  1. A mate of mine worked for Ascari, apparently Klaus wanted to build a car he couldnt buy, so he founded Ascari, it was more a hobby, he also owns a resort in Spain where he made his own racetrack featuring all his favourite corners from other circuits (featured on top gear), some mad stories from his time there, i.e bmw were being slow with supplying engines at one stage so he sent his manager down to the local dealership, bought 3 brand new M5's, stripped the engines and left the rest outside. Anyway: Toyota Bb
  2. Are you telling me a 458 isnt involving You will wanting cross plys and drum brakes next
  3. Dont get me wrong, i love a decent manual, but it all depends on how you use the car, i really dont see with a car like a 370z and how you will be using it the experience would be diminished by having paddles for the brief moments you would actually think, wish i had bought a manual. Unless you are getting up at 5am for a summer blast, a regular track day attendee, paddles all the way imho. All that said, go drive a manual and auto, see what takes your fancy, we all have our opinions, but at the end of the day, you are the one thats going to have to live with your decision but dont get caught up in the whole its not a drivers car nonsense because its an auto
  4. If you are getting a modern car get a modern gearbox, if you want something to change gear manually in, get a car that warrants the additional input, Elise, M car etc unless of course you will be spending a lot of time at the track where you can enjoy a manual, i will literally be bu**ered if i can get my head around why people want the manual experience in a car that you will spend most of the time crawling around in traffic with brief intervals of manual enjoyment.
  5. Spring is the worst time to buy a car, whatever it is, being a 370z is neither here or nor there, i can really think you need a spreadsheet to get to that "Yet they are currently sat at 30K", maybe there is a reason they are sat at 30k and not selling and why would you buy a 2nd hand one at £30k when you can have new at £32k? I am guessing you are a thoughtful buyer, research, do your homework etc, but really dude, you just need to get out and view some cars and make some offers, you will never know what you can and cant get from your pc screen.
  6. Do not buy a 370z Nismo as an investment or expecting not to loose on it, you will, especially when buyers get up to speed with dealers punting them out new at £32k, you dont need a spreadsheet to tell you that! All car prices fluctuate between winter and spring, especially sports cars, dont just look at advertised prices, go out make some offers, you might be surprised
  7. If suspension is your concern the first thing i would do is get a decent geometry check, find someone in your area who uses hunter alignment for example as a starting point, get the car back in line which if it hasnt been done recently its probably a mile out, this may help. If you find you are still loosing grip, get a bit of negative camber dialled in. However, the above posts are right, if its just grip thats the issue, tyres should be the starting point, no good having all the suspension done if the one thing that transfers that to the road is on the budget side. If there are certain handling traits you dont like, body roll, turn in etc etc, there are various options for you to explore.
  8. Is it really any different to fitting sports cats/de cats which is common practice on here?
  9. Sadly i think anything like that is closer to £40k, the new Supra is rumoured to be £50k plus with a decent engine, i think thats as close as your going to get to the numbers required unless its a hot hatch.
  10. Maybe its your Tein springs
  11. From what i have i read on here its a trait of the car, do a search on bikeracer on here and as any thread re nismo handling, make sure the shipping blocks from the suspension have been removed.
  12. I meant the difference to the std 370z
  13. I had Ar1's on my VX, very impressive tyre for the money, loads and loads of grip and good feedback through the wheel, keep an eye on the triangle markers on the sides (same as Toyos), adjust your tyre pressures to just scrub the top of the marker for optimum performance/pressures.
  14. Seems to be a lot of mention of suspension upgrades, never heard brakes before, can anyone tell exactly what these upgrades comprise of?
  15. A lot of people like modding to make a car their own and individual, some are happy to buy and fettle. Quite often discussed that the reality of a Nismo version is mainly aesthetics, a token gesture of hp increase, so not really a lot of difference to what you want to do, change the looks. A Nismo will always hold more value to the std car, but i dont think its going to be the collectors item some people think, so there will still be depreciation to come, but probably no more than you will loose in modifying a std one So the question to me is, would you prefer to be in something you have made your own or something that others have?
  16. Notice the winks and smilies, said in jest but wasnt that the whole point of this topic, financing a 370z. To be fair a lot of people dont consider the consequences, i found out the hard way after a motorbike accident and off work for 6 months (and no amount of cover protects you from motorbike accidents) or my sister who passed away and the finance company then pursued her children for payments.
