The original fans are remarkably silent but a noisy fan is somehow very reassuring ! The Lexus one we fitted is loud but not intrusive.

Just had a look on their website and they look good. Why are Nissan charging £861 !!!!!!! If my Lexus conversion does not last I will be ordering these for sure.

Thought some of you may find this helpful or interesting. When my 350Z was M.O.T.'d recently, it overheated. For a while after, the temperature was going up at idle and almost overheated a couple more times. Into my mates workshop and after reading about slow and dud cooling fans we discovered the fans were not starting on their own, I had to flick them with my fingers to get them spinning and when they did, they were slow, one more so than the other. This I think is probably the reason behind some head gasket problems. I phoned Nissan Dartford who quoted me £861.60 for two fan motors. Yes I know. My mate does things differently sometimes and wanted to fix it without the ridiculous expense so we have fitted a fan from a Lexus iS200. Similar in size but only two of the holes which secure it to the cowling actually fit so a new hole needs drilling. The plug in bit does not line up with the recess for the Nissan plug so some of the plastic has to be cut or ground out to accommodate it. The actual fan blades are the exact same size as the Nissan part so once centralised it fits like a glove. The main body of the fan has to be cut down as its too deep and rubs. That's it, done. We have kept the right hand fan ( passenger side/air-con cooling ) after putting an air pipe in it and some lubrication. The Lexus fan is at least twice as powerful as the Nissans and although is noisier it does a fantastic job. No specialist tools required and just a used 2004 Lexus fan. Took Nissan Dartford 2 weeks to get the quote. Does ANYONE ever order a new roof through Nissan ? Surely they can do it for less ! £1500 maybe and still a good profit in it !!!!

Welcome from a fellow Roadster owner. If you are anything like me, you will just love your car more and more the longer you own it.........

I recently asked my local Nissan dealer to quote for a supply and fit new roof for my roadster. I also asked a guy who re-trims classic cars to quote for the same thing. Classic car guy £760 supply and fit all in for a mohair hood. Nissan quote, see below. I understand the part is a genuine Nissan one but they wont even fit it and the after-market hood from other guy is a quality mohair product. He is charging me £320 labour out of the £760. Difference = £2729. I will post the results of the job in late November once done. I have looked up the part now thanks to the registration number you sent through. The cost for the part alone is £2889.00 inc VAT We are unable to fit this item as it is a specialist job and would subcontract out to a professional trimming company to carry this out. Until the roof has been accessed after the covering is removed they are unable to give me a complete costing on this repair. We estimate around £5-600 to fit. Correct Commander, in my first post I was just asking the question, never actually said I was going to do it, just seeing if it could be done and if it was possible . I have after much chat and views about it including on here, decided it is a stupid idea and will firstly change the oil and add Moly etc If that does not help, I will get it looked at by the gearbox specialist.

I'm not mad, I have a 350Z.......I'm keeping the manual, just not happy with 2nd gear so he's going to have a drive and tell me what he thinks. If the syncro is knackered I will get it rebuilt.

Good luck with the Clio. As you can see from my name on here, I own a Clio Rs200 as well as my 350Z. Have had a major problem with the Clio, bought it new in 2010 but have to say it runs rings round the Z. Make sure you do some track days and you will be amazed. Mine is the FF with Cup chassis. If I had to keep just one car out of the two it would be the Z. Clio is a fantastic but flawed car.

Refurbed my headlights this afternoon and they look amazing. Fine sandpaper with lots of water. Cutting compound on a circular polishing pad on my drill then a T-Cut on pad followed by a resin polish also on the pad. I'm a very happy chappie.

Just found out about a gearbox specialist 2 miles from me who is going to have a look.

Recommendations please. Been on eBay but everything seems to be for LHD cars as do a number of other sites. Prices for UK lights are crazy.
