Year on year it's getting harder to pull together the full Desk Calendar, the problem isn't just about getting a variety of cars to fill it, but getting enough images of sufficient resolution and correct exposure to stand up to printing. Simply pulling images off the forum isn't enough, they are compressed as they are uploaded to reduce the bandwidth required to host our own images. This is why the very good people who actually make it all happen by submitting their photos end up having to email them to me. More importantly, for anyone who takes the time to submit images, I really don't mind them having several in the Desk Calendar, because we simply wouldn't have one without their generous input. What would be really good is if we can get more photos from meets where at least one member takes shots either with a DSLR or a decent phone and sends them to us, uncompressed. This way we'll have good shots of a wide variety of cars. All that said, I'm not a total dinosaur, I recognise that sharing images on Faceballz and Instagram is where it's at in the long term.

Hi Everybody We're considering setting up a forum email newsletter, perhaps once a quarter or maybe even monthly, potentially containing some, all or none of the following: Member submitted articles A member build project or two Trader News Upcoming Events/Drives Any Nissan News Something else you'd like to see We're just spitballing this for now, but we'd love to hear from you on if you'd be into receiving and reading it, contributing to it, anything in particular you might like to see in there. Thanks for your input

Anyone using the Sony XAV-AX100 Head Unit?
Stutopia replied to ZedAndy's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
I know it’s not a Zed but I had this exact same problem mounting it in my BRZ. In the end I just modified the brackets by elongating the holes, shifting the whole unit up about 5-10mm. -
Can’t believe we don’t have someone V8 curious, I’d have snapped this up before I bought the BRZ and gone all lightweight.

The desk calendars arrived today and have been posted out.
-
Excellent, glad they are landing with you I got a notification of shipping for the desk calendars today, so I hope to have them all out with everyone early next week.

Good choice, I got lured into the PIAA world, weren't as good as your classic Bosch. Not to mention, not even half as manly to say.
-
What does it transform into? If you're going balls out on a hot hatch, why not make it mental? Hope you enjoy it.
-
Sadly, I’m afraid it is.

First batch of Wall Calendars dispatched to members today. I'm still waiting on the delivery of the Desk calendars, so if you have ordered one of those, or one of each, I'm afraid you still have a wait. Everyone who's getting a wall calendar in this first shipment, please do try and keep it a surprise for the others. Thanks

You can't blow the whistle without posting the answer! I did think the key to this is weighing two groups of 5 and leaving 2 to one side, but I can't quite figure out how you then root out the individual from there, if you don't know if it's lighter or heavier. GODDAMMIT
-
Just one more thing... Say the odd one is A1 and heavier, then... You weighed Group A & Group B = A was heavier. You weighed Group A & Group C = A was heavier. Disregard Groups B & C. You split into A1 + A2 and weigh against A3 + A4 = A1 + A2 are heavier. Disregard A3 + A4. You now know it’s A1 or A2, haven’t you used up all three of your weighs?

Not sure we're adding value with this one.

Jesus what a horrible day, so sorry to hear it mate. Great that you and Jo are able to support, I’m sure it’s very much appreciated. I lost a friend of a similar age, passenger when the prick driver of the car he was in decided to do a blind overtake to show off. Him and his fiancée just gone. I was texting him about something and just no reply for a day, seemed weird, until a mutual friend got in touch. Nothing is as jarring as being reminded of how fragile and quickly extinguished life can be. Thinking of you mate. Get in touch if you ever need to chat.

They can go in the new theatres.

I’d use it to recruit more staff.

Welcome to 2018! Last year the club got together with CAT Driver Training and put forward some options for Driver Training at the superb Millbrook facility. Having attended each of the three days on offer last year, I can honestly say they were all great learning opportunities and tremendous fun. In the unlikely event you don’t believe me, spend a few minutes reading some of the glowing feedback from customers at Trustpilot here and I bet one or two of the other attendees might even chime in with some praise too. Happily, CAT are on-board for 2018 to offer us the same cracking days, as well as something new. For the uninitiated, here’s some background on CAT and the days that are on offer to our club members. CAT Driver Training is run by Colin and Jo Hoad. Colin used to work for a leading motor manufacturer in the UK as a Vehicle Evaluator and Driver Trainer and has gained extensive experience and qualifications in driver instruction (not to mention development work on our very own 350Z for Europe). Colin is also certificated to instruct at Millbrook, his life has been spent working with his passion; motor cars - from racing Minis to the race preparation of performance cars. He has much experience of vehicles on both road and track and brings a very different approach to driver enjoyment. If you don’t know the scale and beauty of the Millbrook site, here's just a part of it, inside the high speed circuit. And the view you will be faced with when lining up the mile straight. Driver Training Days 1) Performance Driver Track Day An action-packed day run by CAT Driver Training Ltd at Millbrook Proving Ground. The day is a fast-moving experience for 6 owners and their cars to introduce the secrets of performance driving. It is designed to be informative, exciting and fun. The group size is purposefully kept small so that the maximum can be obtained from the day in a highly-personalised environment. There is access to the 5 unique circuits at the renowned Millbrook Proving Ground, a venue that is not normally accessible for 'track days' and the general public. Activities designed for the different circuits are: Learn threshold braking from high speed on the Mile Straight High speed driving, potentially to the maximum of your car, on the banked circuit of the High-Speed Circuit Drive the demanding Alpine Route circuit with its hills, and variety of corners from hairpins to long and sweeping Take on the tight, twisty and challenging Handling Circuit Put a car through its paces on the open spaces of the Steering Pad/Mile Straight Apron An instructor will accompany you on all the circuits, and the objective is to teach you how to get the best from your car and develop your performance driving skills in a controlled environment and at a pace you are comfortable with. Short presentations in vehicle dynamics will help you to understand the relationship between driver input and vehicle balance and control. From this comes the appreciation of how to safely drive your vehicle at grip limit within the controlled confines of a track environment. At the end of the day, your new-found skills can be put to the test in a timed shoot out around a gymkhana-style course laid out on the Steering Pad/Mile Straight Apron. Though this is 'Track Day' in name the skills learned and developed during the session will stand you in good stead on the road as well. Drivers looking to improve their all-round ability will benefit as much as those want to shave seconds off lap times. Included in the day are: Professional in car tuition Access to 5 unique circuits at Millbrook Proving Ground Lunch and refreshments during the day Timed end of day shoot-out Full emergency services on hand all day 1 hour 40 minutes driving time with your personal instructor Link to the CAT site here Performance Driver 'Track' Day Schedule 08:30-09:15 Coffee, Introduction, Licence Check, Scrutineering, Safety Briefing & Objectives of the Day 09:30-09:35 Drive to Circuits 09:30-11:00 Mile Straight 11:00-11:50 High Speed Circuit 11:50-13:15 Handling Circuit 13:15-14:00 Lunch 14:00-15:00 Alpine Route 15:00-15:45 Understeer/Oversteer 15:45-16:45 Gymkhana timed Shoot Out on the Steering Pad/Mile Straight Apron 16:55 Presentation & Debrief and any questions Timings & Circuit order may be subject to change on the day depending on circuit activity.
