Listen you oldies, get with it, my Sony MiniDisc Walkman was where it's at. With full Digital MEGA BASS.

I saw a documentary about this. Is this you SMD? I've seen some well rude ghettoblaster style ipod docks. Christmas present sorted I reckon.

Nice one fellas, I just filled up so I'll add in and brim. Ta.

Picked up some octane booster for the trip up north, just in case like. Halfords were throwing in the STP Petrol Injector Cleaner with it for a small discount, I like a deal, so got some. Before I chuck a load of this into a full tank, just wanted to check it was safe for Zeds? I'm not that keen on the idea of putting anything other than super in the tank so wanted to be extra safe before the lump falls out into the road or some such disaster. Also is this going to fire loads of white smoke out the exhaust like I've seen red-ex do? I need to drive to work first thing and don't need a white cloud following me onto site. Whilst I'm asking, anyone else used it? Snake oil? Any good? Search didn't reveal too many threads.

After a hard day working on the Zed, how do you relax?

As long as you're not smacking it, or feeding it, only the filthiest minds would consider that a double entendre! -
Interesting. I bet those pipes are bigger than on your zed! It's defo a true dual system too.

Good shout, ta. I've got some spare Kevlar knocking about which I could probably use. Thanks for the tip.

I think the mystery machine at the bottom is for burning holes into polo mints. I continue to be enthrawled by this thread. The old metal has a fascinating history locked up in it.

Looks great. Love the tiny aerial!

I guess I'm still in the honeymoon period! Also I only drink to be social, like, right now, I'm being social with the TV. Doesn't have to be booze! -
Since I was lucky enough to get a bottle for my birthday, I now like to relax with a wee (large) dram. I like the fact that the Zed is Japanese, I like the fact that my whisky is Japanese and, what I like most, is that this whisky is one of the best I've ever drank. Smoother than a clay-barred bottom. Gotta hand it to the Japs, they know how to make stuff properly and have oodles of patience. (It's rated at 105 RON, safe for Zeds.) What do you do? "For relaxing times, make it Suntory time." FYI - Drinking and driving isn't cool kids.

At least I feel better about not knowing it's name now. If you pros don't, I had no chance. It can't be Samuel BBK, because all the parts of my car have girls names, otherwise I wouldn't be totally comfortable getting inside her twice a day and driving her wild.

I was changing the boot struts, took off the bracket on the body with the ball which it connects to and the little "double washer" underneath has perished. Any idea what the proper name is so I can google? It sits under this little guy. And is this shape, but it's not metal, it's sort of a stiff paper.

Clarkson is a professional bellend. By that I mean he's paid to be the Clarkson character. It's how he earns his crust. Fair play to him he's made a mint out of it. I'm sure he'd be alright to have a pint with and shoot the breeze but all the nutcasery and "offensive" remarks he ejaculates from his mouth in public are simply geared around pushing the Clarkson character, and it works for him and his no doubt massive country pile and fleet of nice motors. He'll be spunking off about the noise of another car in another clip or another episode.

If you go for a case, I can recommend tech21. They can take knocks very well and do one in pink. http://shop.tech21.uk.com/store/tablets/ipad-2-3-4-cases I do have a vested interest, a mate of mine works there, but it's good stuff, saved my iphone a few times. There's also a cool video of the secret goop they put inside the case. http://m.popsci.com/gadgets/article/2013-01/ces-2013-wrap-goop-around-your-fingers-then-smash-them-hammer

Is that the shadow of a giant wicker man on the reflection of your garage door? Nice job. You've inspired me to get out there!

I loathed iTunes on Windows, so unreliable and slow, but it runs like a dream on my iMac (the 520GB SSD probably helps!). Can't decide if apple make it deliberately rubs on windows or if they simply don't put in enough effort on the transfer. I've got Windows VM, for those odd applications I want. It's the best running windows machine I've ever had!

Office as standard is a massive win. I got pages and numbers (apple equivalent) they fill the gap but aren't as good as office. When I was at school, the whole school's IT suite was Macintosh (this is early 90s) that's when they got their hooks into me! I'm in Blackpool, seemingly local to no one...

Sounds logical. Fine for tablet/touch, but on desktop why not let you disable metro and have proper start menu? I'm not convinced by touchscreen desktops, too far to reach! I'll no doubt be adding this to my old man's PC at Christmas, so better learn to live with it by then!

Yeah each to there own. I always play it safe and buy the next best thing then hardly use 99% of it's feature's! I know what you mean, when I was looking at the windows surface tabs, I was going to hold out for the full windows version, but had to sit down and think, what would I actually need from it. And it made sense to get just the RT version. Which I'm on now. And I can't fault it. But then I love it because it isn't apple. Not because apple aren't good, its just I'm not an apple fan. My wife has apple everything, and she loves it. I've tried it and its not for me. But I won't slag one thing off over another just because I don't like it. How you finding the windows "app store"? Decent selection and reasonable price? I really quite like the look of the surface on TV but not handled one yet. There's rumours their making a compact size tablet soon too. I'm not a windows fan, but I certainly wouldn't write their stuff off without trying it. Windows 8 does make me rage a bit though!

I have an iPad 3 and a Nexus 7 (which I bought mainly for my folks). The iPad is simply brilliant, especially as it synchs beautifully with my iPhone and iMac. As stated before, it's not the budget choice, although the iPad Mini is well priced (for apple) but I'd really want a retina display. However, I was really impressed by the Nexus 7. It is a straight google tablet so you get all the updates straight through, no waiting for your manufacturer to catch up, or stupid skins getting in the way (my main bug about android). The screen is beautiful, size is great, it's light, fast, decent battery time and it's ridiculously cheap. My folks don't have any problems using it either. For me, if I ever strayed from apple I'd go Nexus 7 or possibly (if budget fits) Nexus 10 for the extra inches. Not used one but reviewed well and if the Nexus 7 is anything to go by, it'll be a great device. In short, go iPad if budget permits, Nexus 7 if it doesn't. IMHO.

What, with them one inch thick, solid plastic, front grills?

I know this is an old thread but I found it really useful, so I've created the PDF attached. I found this thread hugely informative and thought someone else might also want to have a printer friendly hard copy. Detailing Starter Guide.pdf I dropped images to save on ink and also size, to squeeze it in as an attachment. I knocked up this PDF purely as I wanted something handy printed out when I got down to the job at the car, and I didn’t think leaving my iPad lying around as I splashed water and products all over the place was such a swell idea. Thanks to the OPs for the useful info, hope you don't mind me roughly pulling it together like this. I'll remove if anyone has any serious objections.

I'm happy to report that I am lucky enough to have both!
