  1. Cheers Colin, I read the link and also the one from Glen too (thanks also). Seems like it's just a thing that is really not that well defined, I have interpreted this There is no prescribed method for measuring the height of walls where the land is uneven. The general practice is to measure this from the adjacent natural ground level. to mean that Option 1 - the blue wall - is the correct approach (I intend to photograph the lot extensively, in case of any dispute). However, having got going on the detail in the links you guys supplied, I noted this lot further down. The definition at paragraph 3, article 1 of the General Permitted Development Order 1995, which provides that measurement should be made from the highest adjacent ground level, applies only to buildings and plant and machinery and does not extend to walls and fences. There is no prescribed method for measuring the height of walls where the land is uneven. The general practice is to measure this from the adjacent natural ground level. This is normally taken from the median point between ground levels on the high side and the low side. Cases where this issue has been considered are examined in Development Control Practice 4.3447. Now this reads to me like Option 2 - the pink wall - is actually viable (which is what I would prefer) as it is based on the 'highest adjacent ground level". as it says this... "applies only to buildings and plant and machinery and does not extend to walls and fences." ...which suggests otherwise. The wall in situ, is joined to the house at one end and the other end, is the existing outbuildings. So I think I could argue for the pink wall but it's more of technical argument than a common sense one. How do you read it @Ebized you think Option 1 is the appropriate view, based on the guidance and examples laid out? Also, you mention contacting the Local Planning Authority for a certificate, do you know, if I go down this route, are they likely to want to speak to the neighbour and/or view the wall from his side - I don't want to provoke him.
  2. Planning a little redevelopment of my back yard and I've a got question I can't find an easy answer on the google. Video to explain. Any help or relevant experience is appreciated.
  3. I don’t think you get what above the law means mate.
  4. I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. I’d watch 2049 after. Id love to do a massive screen projection of Das Boot, turn off all the lights and REALLY get into it.
  5. WOW I feel like I should notify at least one of the emergency services about this, but I just don't know which one! At least there is now something more dangerous than Covid-19 to worry about out there 11 out of 10 for ambition and 10 out of 10 for realisation. #staysafe
  6. I’ve removed your number, this is an open forum so it’s best not to publish it, but if you want to, please feel free to add it again.
  7. What do they say, "Measure twice, bake once?".
  8. Was it runny or gloopy? I’ve had a bottle of Megs for 240 years and it’s still only half empty. Can’t bring myself to try anything else until it’s gone?
  9. Love it when a plan comes together. Thanks for sharing it mate, still really enjoying these lockdown updates. You know, if there was a little positive air pressure inside the dust housing for the motor and vibrator, it might push dust and media gently out the gaps, instead of letting it in. Just sayin'...
  10. I purge my software and hardware logs regularly, can't be too careful
  11. The solution is clear for anyone to see. You shouldn’t be going out now, unless it concerns you and your family’s survival. The fact that the “right thing” contradicts the advice, is potentially criminal. Though being able to demonstrate you caught it at/because of work, might be legal barrier that’s difficult to clear. I’m lucky enough to not have to go in the office, but for anyone who is compelled to be in work in the next months, to pay the bills or to keep vital services running. It’s a travesty that non-essential workers are being added into the mix and increasing their risk of exposure.
  12. This is EASILY the most elaborate and heavily engineered vibrator I have seen on the internet and I've don't a LOT of 'research' during lockdown.
  13. Are you ok @Keyser? Not had a fall getting out the bath?
  14. Out for a drive, I get that. Out for a picnic, I don't. If he's in his 50s and she's in her 20s and he's got a Ferrari - you can do the maths on this one mate
  15. I've just been out for exercise detail and combined it with my big shop, to try and minimise contact. What is the point? The whole world is out, sitting on every bench, ignoring the yellow boxes in Tesco, picnics on the green, you name it. It's not even youngsters being stupid, they're all 40+ and should know better. I've had two mates bedridden with this, barely able to breathe and one spent 4 days in intensive care - all three are now on the mend, thankfully. Yet this lot of ******* **** can't say indoors or in their own garden because the sun is out.
  16. I’ve often pondered the ethics of how to collectively increase the intelligence of the population, finally nature has gone up with a solution. Not specifically KFC reopening, but that’s on the list, did anyone else have to drive through groups of flag waving lunatics licking each other’s mucus membranes yesterday? The irony of celebrating 6 years of determination, ingenuity, cooperation and discipline, by running outside after not being able to handle 6 weeks of watching Netflix and relaxing...
  17. The T-bar storage is a really nice touch, so often this kind of thing is forgotten and then the bit goes missing - niiiiiiiiiiicee.
  18. Is it going to get an engine in this torture contraption soon? If not, I think this might explain the down swing in likes. Still enjoying
  19. That’s really rather nice. Great choices.
  20. Nice progress, this project seems almost done. I saw this and thought you might need a new one @Keyser ... https://www.motorsportauctions.com/category/305/Formula-One/listings/43877/2002-Toyota-TF102-Formula-1-car-with-V10-engine.html?fbclid=IwAR0sMNKnjvQdhM6afZyMsmTRzP3aAR0bryJmqqjjO4oOVis4sKTqsFAb3r4
  21. Thank you. I agonised over the wheel colour for ages, vey nearly went cobalt blue. In the end, when I went to the refurb place, they had a dozen or so on the display. The guy suggested "Shadow Chrome" which sounded awful in my head but when he showed me the wheel, I was smitten. I wanted them to still be quite striking and visible, albeit not too shiny. Best thing was it hid the brake dust beautifully (not like the gold wheels on the BRZ!).
  22. There's a little workaround in place for now, should keep us ticking over. Nice utensil holder BTW!
  23. I'm only 3 years divorced from the Z. I do miss her big torque sometimes...
  24. You win the internet today mate, really useful.
