  1. Just read this article, it's interesting (I think ) to read how soft the paint was and what products could be used on such a beautiful old car, might be handy with the Zed's thin paint. I'd love to have those bonnet vents and wing vents on my Zed, they look AMAZEBALLZ! http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/car-care-blog/detailing/aston-martin-db4-refining-a-classic/?utm_source=UF+Newsletter+Subscribers&utm_campaign=d4e2f46dd9-August_Newsletter_Two&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_1b3f443310-d4e2f46dd9-60214529 More pics: http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/513-Aston-Martin-DB4-Refining-A-Classic
  2. It's just noticeable how quickly he takes charge when the Thames bursts, IIRC there were floods elsewhere back at Christmas that didn't get his 'money no object' pledge. The red lot are just as bad, and the yellows too.
  3. Don't worry (call me Dave) Cameron is "going to take personal charge" of the flood relief effort. Apparently he's got the kind of experience you need to take charge of a flood relief effort as his moat once got really, really close to being full once, when some of his servants were thrown in for feeding his peacocks the wrong food. He has also said "money is no object" when it comes to flood relief. Clearly it was an object when it came to spending it on sea defences, river dredging, the environment agency budget, and before the floods hit residents of the banks of the River Thames. I wonder who they vote for typically...
  4. I was auto renewed by elephant (admiral subsidiary) they called me a few times, wrote to me and emailed me to check I had reviewed my new documents. They also beat every other quote (including specialists) with a massive stick. I've been really impressed. Did you ask them how they notified you? Might be worth updating all your contact details with them.
  5. I used my halfords breathalysers after a big night out, no intention of driving just wanted to see how far gone I was, rubbish. Couldn't tell the difference between "safe enough" and "put your keys down". Thinking back, it could have been I was too pi55ed to use it properly, but they don't write that on the box!!!
  6. Is it a single high viz vest or is it one per passenger? It's supposed to be at hand as well, not in the boot or some such. Used these headlamp deflectors recently, seemed ok on a 308, not tried on a 350. I'd suspect it's more about having them than them actually being any good! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B001P5SPJW/ref=redir_mdp_mobile?ref_=pe_385721_37038051_pe_217191_31005151_M3T1_dp_1 Checklist here: http://shop.theaa.com/content/driving-in-europe PS - my advice does not come with any legal guarantee
  7. Cool update. It's interesting to see these bits of a car I wouldn't normally ever know about.
  8. I'd go easy on the hard braking tests until it's been looked at!
  9. Looks fun, nice challenge. Is it no mods AT ALL, including brake balance?
  10. Nice car mate, you must be delighted. Your mates are interested in it, they just won't let on for whatever reason. If you can't get interested in 911, even from an engineering POV, but you can in an A4 or a Mini, then there's something funny going on. I wouldn't let it bother you one but, she's a beaut. Can you de-red those lights?
  11. That's a mighty nice Zed you've got there Scootg
  12. She was up for an exahust rattle a fortnight or so ago, looks totally solid underneath. The scorpion hasn't been on all that long.
  13. By rears I'm assuming you mean on the cats? Where are the front ones?
  14. Thread revival! On the way to work got another pesky EML, plugged in my trusty IOBD and returned the following: P0139 - O2 sensor, slow response, bank 1 sensor 2 P0159 - O2 sensor, slow response, bank 2 sensor 2 P1146 - Heated O2 sensor 2 P1166 - Heated O2 sensor 2 P1147 - Heated O2 sensor 2 P1167 - Heated O2 sensor 2 I've seen the Heated O2 Sensor twice in the past about 1k miles apart, cleared, no problem. She runs perfect and sounds amazeballz. I'm running Berks HFC with a scorpion cat back, she's been uprevd. Question is, I have some spacers to go on but not fitted yet, but this time the P0139 and P0159 codes are new entries. I think I know the answer, but does this mean I actually need to replace the O2 sensors this time? If so, would you add the O2 spacers at the same time? PS - it was unusually cold this morning if that makes any difference to your thinking. Thanks!
  15. Fire up google and search for "black on black rim action", probably best no to at work.
  16. Can we all chip in and get a forum timeshare P1? I'd like it on the 1st weekend of the month please as it's my idea. It looked like a future car fell out of a time hole.
  17. Formula silver would look fit on a black zed. They're really nice wheels, draw people's eyes to them to admire them, not to search if they're actually there Black door handles would be cool as though. All just IMO though. Do a few photoshop runs and see what gets your engine revving.
  18. It's like it's sending an emergency morse code message after being locked up in a Austrian basement for 15 years. Hope you get a cheap and easy fix.

    BMW M6 V10

Nice write up, as usual I'm sure the M6 could restart the earth if it ever stopped spinning and for sheer practicality it'll win by a mile, but it just doesn't look as flat out sexy as the Porsche. If you showed the first pic to 100 people and offered them the keys to either, which do you think would require a trip to a locksmith to get most keys cut? No one's ever got a sideways glance from a dusky French maiden on the streets of Paris in a saloon BMW, but the 911 would get said Mademoiselle wetter than Jamie Oliver's chin. It has that certain je ne sais pas, which numbers can't conjure. Just my 2p. They're both awesome machines.
  20. That's a bit of high brow gag for you isn't it?
  21. They look great, nice work in the end.
  22. Shame, you'd started with some really quite tasteful mods. Still, time for something exciting and new! Maserati for the distinguished gentleman around town...
  23. I don't feel so bad about the side window louvres that I like now.
