  1. I have seen that but never actually known anyone to have done it successfully. Bit full on for such an awful HU. Totally, I wouldn't go for another Bose one if it was free. By the time you buy one then get stealer/specialist to sort out, you could have a good unit.
  2. I believe the headunit is married to the ECU, but it can be divorced and married to a new one. http://www.350z-uk.com/index.php?showtopic=19459 I'd go aftermarket though, it'll be so much better whatever your budget, especially if you are prepared to shell out a few quid.
  3. So you're a highly talented automotive engineer with a perfected Zed, a budget and the urge to work on something? If it was me, I'd leave the Zed as it is and if I had your skills there's literally only one thing I'd be doing. I'd buy this: and turn it into this: and then I'd let me come round of a weekend and touch it.
  4. I love this, it's brilliant, great purchase.
  5. Someone recently recommended fatmat to me, which I believe is from the maker of dynamat, but is a cheaper alternative. Not tried it yet myself though. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-sq-ft-FATMAT-XTREME-Sound-Deadening-UK-Seller-Dynamat-Roller-Available-/290643812702
  6. It's on a logarithmic scale so it's a PITA to work with. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logarithmic_unit#Logarithmic_units If anyone's interested the scale in the table on the right hand side of this page shows how it works. Note the entry for 3db and it's power ratio of 2, as per Jetpilot's post. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decibel#Acoustics
  7. Snow foam is the most fun part of washing the car, other than standing back at the end a taking a pic to whore on here Other things that can* be snow foamed: - neighbours gardens/walls/cars within about 15 feet - yourself if it's windy - yours or someone else pets that think it's acceptable to walk over your paintwork - gulls which thinks it's acceptable to sh!t on a Zed *can should say MUST NOT
  8. If you keep the tip well away from the paint and also use it at an angle (not straight on) it should push most big stuff off, without doing any damage. Not for engine bays for me, unless you know exactly what electrics you're covering up and have some brave pants. I've got a K2, it's ace. I use it on the Zed mostly, but also on the patio (without attachment, just blasting away with the jet) does a great job, even done the windows with it. Only negatives for me, the supplied hose (from unit to lance) is a bit short, so I bought an extension. The karcher foam thing was rubbs, unless it's thrown in for free, get a proper one from polished bliss or similar for snow foaming. Quite tempted to try the underbody attachment and see if it will a) go underneath my sidesteps and 2) help keep corrosion at bay.
  9. Yeah, defo keep it subtle! I want to say it's a beautiful car, but it's simply too aggressive to be beautiful, it's just so goddam mean looking. I love it.
  10. New slave fixed the no-resistance-for-inches-then-low-bite issue. But as above, if it's just been done, isn't the most likely culprit some air in there?
  11. Guilty, 30 minute speed clean at 8am. Well I had to, I was seeing other Zeds today
  12. How close is that lip to the kerb? Cool pic.
  13. Loves these test, thanks for sharing. Not much in it to my eye. I can't decide whether I prefer the aesthetics of a nice bead, or better sheeting which leaves fewer beads and fewer watermarks after the beads evaporate.
  14. Both shell and BP have an app, also tells you if they have a jet wash for emergency rinses or if they only got the paint stripper style car wash. If you venture north of Fort William, email Gleaner with your route and they'll tell you their stations with super along the way. Very friendly customer service. Edit: as per Dan above a couple of octane booster bottles fit nicely in the little cubbies in the rear.
  15. Ooooh I do like the moody, desaturated vibe of your pics. Really works with the GM. Feels like it should have a soundtrack of Vienna by Ultravox. Nice work.
  16. I'd like to wake up to the sound of Grimshaw, drowning in his own blood. He represents the precise point in time where indie stopped being a music and started being a 'look' that you 'rocked'.
  17. ^^^^^^ that looks sweet! and good you can keep the lid and hide it away. Nice job.
  18. So my Richbrook anti-theft valve caps have picked up some oxidisation and look rubbish, replaced with a new set. However this time I have given the new set two coats of lacquer, hopefully this will keep them shiny for longer!
  19. Been in dialogue with Ewen on a couple of things of late. A truly top service, couldn't be more helpful and I can't recommend them enough. I'll be back for more, no doubt.
  20. Christ on a bike, that noise is pantwettingly epic. I want one now! It's crazy how tall it looks compared to the other runners, the one I saw was ridiculously low.
