Peak District 2016 Raffle **Prize list post #12**
Stutopia replied to MrsNiki's topic in National Events & Shows
In! Great work sorting both the meet and the raffle -
To me, it's the MASSIVELY over the top amount of force that I find astonishing. Anyone can get in an argument and someone gets punched, it happens to even the most peaceful folk. But booting someone when they're down and repeated heavy blows, are just WAY over the top. But then again, there's nobheads everywhere. When I went to South America, people kept saying, "Aren't you worried it's dangerous over there?", "You're mad going to Colombia, you'll get kidnapped!" but when you say, "I'm off to Manchester/Leeds/London this weekend" no one asks if you're worried it's dangerous, despite shocking incidents right here at home The worst thing I've seen over here was someone getting glassed, over there the worst thing that happened was getting ripped off for drinks by a stripper. And even then, she was worth it...

Ohh my. -
They could but then you could argue about the reliability/consistency of a cheapo dash cam with no maintence and no tested performance being used as a speed camera, for which it's not been designed. I guess if you're doing 90 in a 60 and they clock a time between two fixed points, you might have a battle on your hands, but for lower differences I'd be surprised if they could get you like that. PS - I'm not encouraging speeding kids. Drive safe & legal.

Brad's full engine rebuild - Done, in, running MOT passed!

I call custard Glad you're nearly there! -
doesn't prove contact was made, only that he was on my side of the road Sh**ter. In the dash cam stakes, I went for a very basic one, no GPS/speed or G meter. I figure I don't need it showing me 3 mph over the limit getting side swiped and some clown saying it happened because I was speeding, not because they weren't paying attention. There's good info over at https://dashcamtalk.com

The total number of countries in line won't change though, it'll still be 28. There'll just be an extra deal to do. The 1 deal for the 27 and then the 1 for the 1. I don't disagree the US looks out exclusively for itself, but which country doesn't?

That blows. How come your pics from the time don't count for anything?

It's fairly clear that the European Court of Human Rights is more or less the same things as the European Union (it isn't). Forget the Council of Europe, you never hear anything about them these days and it's not like we were member founders (we were) and it existed long before the EU (it did). It's right there in black and white that all these "institutions" have Europe in their name. Which, thanks to Teresa May, we know is bad. It's bad because of Abu Hamza, who the EU loves, and the reason the EU keeps stopping our government from ending terror (which it doesn't). He'd be under enormous pressure to step down. He'd have no mandate if the people rejected his advice on such a crucial matter and voted against him. That said, he's already survived having relations with a dead animal, so it's entirely possible he'd sit tight for a while and hope the news agenda gets bored of pressuring him and moves on to a celebrity-sex-super-injunction story instead.

It's one of the strangest campaigns ever, on both sides. No one has anything positive to say about either option, beyond the intangible placard stuff like "we're better off together" or "we'll be independent again". The only really solid fact that everyone can agree on is there won't be any more "red tape" from Europe. Which is either a good thing, if you believe the money "saved" will be spent on something worthwhile like the NHS, Education, Infrastructure, etc. Or a bad thing if you believe any saved money to be gifted away in tax breaks. So far it's been entirely fought by the two campaigning sides on a "you should be more scared of them than you are of us" basis, which is a shame for something so important

I have no idea why some corners have wet their collective knickers over Obama daring to speak on US Trade deals. WHAT RIGHT HAS HE GOT TO SPEAK OF THE US? - confused of Royal Tunbridge Wells Presumably the other lot would have been outraged if he'd said sorting it out would be a 5 minute job!

Ahhh, this is linked to the whole valeo radiator thing. Thanks

That sounds dead easy to check for

That would be epic, thanks mate

I've mate who fancies a 2003-06 CLK or C class, it would be his first dip into a prestige marque. I've already mentioned that older more expensive cars, though cheap to buy now, can be hit with bills for expensive parts. He's not interested in a BMW or Audi or Lexus. He's not into going fast, so not really that fussed for AMG stuff, just wants a bit of luxury and a classy looking older motor rather than a cheaper, more modern hatch. Would probably be a petrol with a 3ish litre lump. Any views on these very welcome, I did have a spin through the Merc owners forum but found many threads asking for buyers guides, but not much actual info beyond checking arches for rust. Thanks

Courtesy of Zmanalex: From the workshop manual for a N/A car. NOTE IT IS CRITICAL THAT THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE BE FOLLOWED EXACTLY! IT IS TIME CONSUMING, HOWEVER, ESSENTIAL! 3.1 Remove bleader in the stock upper heater hose. 3.2 Fill radiator and coolant recovery reservoir with anti freeze coolant. It should take 10 quarts (11.365 litres), including reservoir. It is important that the coolant is poured through the radiator filler neck at less than 1.5 quarts (1.7 litres) per minute, in order to allow air in the system to escape. 3.3 When the engine coolant overflows the at the bleader, re-install the bleader 3.4 Warm the engine to the normal operating temperature with the radiator cap installed. 3.5 Run the engine at 3,000 RPM for 10 seconds and then allow it to return to idle speed. § Repeat this action three times. 3.6 Stop engine and allow coolant temperature to drop below 120°F. Use a remote electric fan to assist in this process. If necessary, refill the radiator and reservoir up to the filler neck. 3.7 Repeat steps 3.3 to 3.6 at least two more times (it may take more) with the radiator cap installed, until the engine coolant level no longer drops. 3.8 Check the cooling system for leaks with the engine running. 3.9 Fully warm the engine and listen for the sound of coolant flow through the heater unit, inside the car; while running the engine from idle to 3,000 RPM, with the heater control set at several positions between cool and warm. Repeat this action three times. 3.10 If any sound is heard, continue to bleed excess air from the cooling system, by repeating steps 3.3 to 3.6, until the coolant level no longer drops. Thanks Alex for posting this up

You could try Clark Motorsport, Horsham and Cougar Storee, all on here, for new parts. -
Too many near misses to dare flashing one of those torches around...

The reviews on auto trader for reliability aren't as horrific as you might expect for an Alfa. They look gorgeous too.
