For anyone wondering about tyre wear, perhaps tempted to book on but worried you'll need to buy two new rears by lunch time? I used less than 1mm on this day out on my Cup 2s.

Almost certainly, had a great time.

No instruction this time, it was booked up. So I was just making it up as I was going along - which is definitely what was wrong In retrospect, and in my uneducated opinion, I was being way too aggressive to start off with. Too much throttle, too much angle, slow hands. When I calmed down it started to make more sense. Also the surface was EXTREMELY slick. Even when it was dry, in a car as powerless as an MX5, you could easily break traction - so as soon as they wet it, it was very hard to catch the car (for a novice at least) if you went OTT. What I would say is that for someone like me, who is not in the least bit interested in drifting as a sport, it was incredible fun and a nice alternative to the usual track day of just trying to go as fast as possible. it's nice to be able to get it wrong and not worry too much (my mates in the GTR and Gran Truismo were a bit more careful than me!). As you can hear from the footage, we had a laugh all day and I used about a quarter of a tank of petrol (normally track day involves a top up at lunch time) and because they soak the track, I don't think my tyres even got that much abuse - I will measure when I wash the mud off the car at the weekend.

Me and a few lads I know through 350z ownership went to Oulton Park this weekend to try out their drift day. As an absolute novice and owner of a non-drift built MX5 I was bricking it - mainly about embarrassing myself but also about bending it off something sold. I need not have worried, I span SO MANY times it no longer embarrasses me and the car (despite some off-road adventures) stood up all day long. The amount of track abuse this MX5 has had from me and taken it all, is astonishing! Anyway, here's how you don't drift

**DEAD CAR BATTERY, CAR WILL NOT UNLOCK EVEN USING KEY IN DOOR**
Stutopia replied to 350zAl's topic in 350Z General
You sure the key in the lock is not just the barrel lock being uncooperative because it's probably not been used in 20 years? I'd get some lube in there and be persuasive with the key. -

The nostrils aren't to my taste, but I can easily look past them (can't see them in the driver's seat!) as the rest is absolutely awesome. What a fantastic "sensible" daily! Congrats!

Defo what Dan said, watch for the gotchas on remote power to the stock amp (will manifest as no volume after installation). You need an power on ignition feed to it, if memory serves EDIT - hang on, is that just the 350?

Prospective 350z owner looking for quick crosscheck
Stutopia replied to gyaku_zuki's topic in 350Z General
Arch bubbling is common and neither proof the rest of the underneath is a rusty mess or absolutely fine - you really need to see underneath it to make that kind of assessment. I'd take a rusty arch one with FSH over a clean one with no history. It's been a some years since I owned a 350z now, but if I was buying one again, I'd arrange for it to be up on hoist before buying. Good luck, they are awesome cars if you're patient and pick wisely. -
I believe they're quite fussy when they're cold. What's the ambient temp when you're trying to open it?
-
Quite often, if people don't know the answer to a question - rather than just guess, they don't put anything at all. Apologies this didn't live up to your expectations, but there's no need for a temper tantrum.

Teenagers and other people involved in anti social behaviour, like warming up their car engine in a morning

I have one of these, it works, so long as the cats stick to the area that triggers it - or you have multiple for total coverage. Also annoys teenagers who can hear those frequencies.

Get some lion poo from your local garden centre, scares off foxes too.

You can disregard most of the above @Savage GT, I just spotted a page setting that might have blocked you, should be working now - if you can try again and let me know, that would be great.

Hi @Savage GT The quickest way to get to flag a problem and hopefully get an answer, is to PM a Mod or Admin with your query. Which thread specifically (please copy the link to this page) are you trying to reply to? If it's a locked or sold thread, you will not be able to reply - e.g. this one below However, if it is not locked/sold - e.g. this one below You should be able to reply. If you could please try and post on the second link, just any message will do, if it works, I will tidy it up. I have checked your profile and there is no reason there that you should not be able to reply. I have also checked the permissions on the forum sub section and cannot see an issue there. It's not impossible there is a browser or caching issue. If you are still unable to post in the second thread, then suggest trying an alternate browser briefly - so we can rule that in or out. Thanks.

These are useful, I have a 'blow r buddy' which is decent and also warms the air slightly, but it is overpriced for what it is and I would buy an alternative product with no "detailing" tax, if it needs replacing. But I only use it to dry the car if I need to apply a product after the wash and need a dry surface quickly. Otherwise, if you're just doing a wash, and you use an inline water filter, there is no need to dry it - blow or otherwise. An inline filter will pay for itself compared to using a blower each time and eliminates a job.
-
+1 for an inline water filter and open hose rinse - game changer in the effort and carefulness required in the drying phase, but it won't get rid of more dirt I you can't touch. To assist with that problem, I like Bill Hamber Surfex HD as a prewash, but it requires a bit of care in application (don't let it dry in sunshine or on hot panels!) and correct dilution - https://bilthamber.com/product/surfex-hd/ I know it upsets some people but I also put a splash in my snow foam lance, apparently you need to be careful if your snowfoam is already alkaline.
