  1. Interesting! I've got what I've always thougth is a 'decat smell' with mine too, ever since running the Stillen SC (I had test pipes done at the same time). Smells a bit fruity, particularly at idle/cold start and of course if reversing, so I have put it to just fumes from the back.
  2. I was looking out for a space to park near the Red Funnel terminal / Dancing Man, when a grey 350 convertible rolled past and blipped the throttle a few times... Got my attention in the end!
  3. I have a Makita 24v drill... Could use a drill polisher
  4. Does that need a machine polisher? My side windows could use a tickle.
  5. 49k miles and the original windscreen is scratched with wiper arcs so bad that I have to lean over sometimes to avoid glare from lights. It has taken a while to get hold of OEM (dealership) glass, everyone wants to flog you their "like for like", but without seeing both side by side I've erred on the side of what I know works. It took about a month to source the screen. It is being fitted now, and I've also picked up a set of new OEM wipers from Westway Nissan Aldershot, as they're nearby to where the screen is being installed. Yay for being able to see out! I've been holding off applying my Gtechniq coatings until this goes on. Let my neighbour apply them to his Merc and he's reporting superb performance!
  6. I've got the Stillen bumper fitted to my supercharged 370 and it has definitely improved airflow with the huge opening and intake above the number plate No issues with cooling so far Suits your car, looks great for it but it's not the look I'm going for,: I want to keep close to stock. I must admit the cooling is a ball-ache, but tbh there's little that can be done with regards airflow IMO, I'll look at a switch to ECUTEK and more active control, and potentially some other way of managing charge air temp such as that water injection system. For now... Enjoying the winter and cold air!
  7. I didn't just read that Ya phoned quaife direct and mishimoto and they cant match what their distibutors can .... Just seems crazy to me ! That's crazy!
  8. That's a nice front end, but would it work with the rest of the car? I think the 2015 look works as the package with the arch line, skirt and rear all tweaked. Can't be having a frankenmotor - mines a GT Edition so it must look like a GT Edition
  9. That's surely the wrong way round — who values a TT over a 'z? I must admit bias here for two reasons 1. I have a 370, and have had a 350. 2. About a year into my first job out of university, at a creative agency in London. The technical director resigned then re-joined as a woman. We shortly thereafter found his/her website which featured him in skimpy ladies' pants, spread-eagled across the bonnet of an Audi TT under the headline "Chicks with d*cks". If only there was mind bleach. It does rather taint the car once you've seen that.
  10. Tonight I got a bit of a scuff to the front nearside fascia. A lady reversed into my car. I had reversed, the car behind had also reversed etc. because the Range Rover driver coming the other way had decided he must press on through the traffic, despite the obstruction being on his side. TP is insured, so it will get sorted.
  11. Love my Ark. Sounds so naughty! :->
  12. Cheers James, it does help. I'll look into those. Rob, budget is not set. Once I know, I'll figure out how to pay (assuming they're not in the astronomical realm).
  13. Water only in the BMW M4 - That vid is a bit hackneyed (cutaways, dubstep track) but is pretty much what I want. At the very least it suggests that I may need to consider more than I thought because that implies that the water isn't injected until the air is above a certain temp. And how much to inject? How do you even dial that in?
  14. An engine is an air pump, a thermodynamic 'heat engine'. I've no doubt there's lots of losses and real world variables that detract from the ideal law. I was always more interested in quantum & laser physics than classical thermodynamics at uni. The simple fact is, a Vortech V-3 can push something like 1100 CFM if I recall correctly. Squashing air requires (a lot of) work, work done on a gas in a constant volume raises the temperature (in the compressor, and of course in the combustion chamber). The Stillen charge cooler is a bit weak on the first part and I have nothing on the second, so water/meth seems like a sensible approach. I must admit to being puzzled by the largely ambivalent response from most. I'm encouraged by some of the responses on here about safety not power. This is why this forum is great!
  15. Oh that's very interesting! (The water part). The NOS is silly! :-p
  16. Again, I'd love to see this! My car is running well at the moment, but I have plans for increasing its safety/longevity next year.
  17. I actually spoke with Jez about water/meth as a way to manage charge temperatures on my Stillen kit. He also advised against for low cost/benefit. The theory makes good sense to me — the latent heat of vaporisation of water and the change in octane rating should in theory only help the situation. I worry about the reliability of the kits, for a start I wouldn't want to run dry or worse, have a steam explosion in a cylinder if it went too far the other way (is this even possible?). My current thought is to install a better closed loop monitoring system next year and a switch to Ecutek (assuming they can support the automatic transmission tuning).
  18. All I can say is: WHOHOOOOOOOOOOO! You know when your car just feels just right? Cold dense air is good for engines, especially for force fed ones!
  19. This is good reading! I hadn't expected that coilovers would help compliance without that increase in firmness... I think the next steps are to have a ride in some cars that have changed the springs and dampers.
  20. My hairdresser days are behind me
  21. The 19" rays that came with the car, MPSS 245/40 R19 front, MPSS 275/35 R19 rear, 35psi all round.
  22. Yes I know I am want the impossible but it is worth sharing, because I may actually get somewhere! My car is a daily driver, fast road use only. It cannot be lowered, and must retain good suspension travel (and approach/departure angles for slopes in car parks etc.). My car is set up with stock suspension, save for the SPL end links and adjustable Eibach stabiliser bars. I don't agree with sporty = harsh ride approach in suspension. The 370z has a fairly aggressive fast road setup from stock, and the ride is a firm. I drove a 2015 Porsche Boxster 2.7 PDK (on 19" wheels) earlier this year, and I was totally impressed with how it rode: Completely planted, good on my rough country roads, good at speed, cornered very impressively. Of course it is a very different car (weight, distribution etc.). I need all the traction I can get with the extra power in my car, so I'm thinking that a more compliant ride will help. Don't get me wrong, I don't want a soft ride (I'd get a Jaaaaaaaaag for that). I just spoke with (the always helpful) Wheels in Motion. I was advised that the KW v3 is an excellent coilover, but it will give a firmer ride than stock. For a chance of getting toward the goal I have, they suggested I look at a setup where the pre-load is independently adjustable of the ride height, such as those offered by BC Racing. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
