  1. Here is a good summary article on wheel size basics: http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html It covers simple stuff like bolt pattern, then explains offsets and also matching tyres to wheels.
  2. Yes if Adrian does it too - but will have to be later in the year!
  3. Ooo excellent choice, sir! Congratulations!
  4. I'm still considering switching to 18" wheels, but still have much to learn. These are some of the questions I am reading up to find answers on: I'd like to know whether 18x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rear will go straight in or whether it will require messing about with the geometry. I also want to know about the required offsets for the standard car (one that hasn't got any trick suspension parts). I've found a detailed tyre calculator to figure out things like contact area and tyre stiffness: http://bndtechsource.ucoz.com/index/tire_data_calculator/0-20 As for wheels I'd like to keep the weight down and the JDM look. However the OZ Ultraleggera look lovely in my opinion. Enkei PF01 do too, but are only available in silver (my car has the Smoked Chrome wheels). The classic six spoke Rays look is cool, but I don't know which is best! Obviously there's the whole issue of tyre choice on top of this. I am looking to get better traction for all those horses and take advantage of the better ride quality of the 18" vs 19" wheel. Lots to learn. I shall report back.
  5. Well I've asked Taras to do the diffuser as he's spraying up the rear bumper anyway. I've asked him for a quote on the front. Won't do the wing tho. I like it "subtly awesome". Passed a lovely black '60 plate 370z on the M4 this morning, I'd forgotten how damned good they look from the rear 3/4 view.
  6. Taras at R-T performance has suggested making the diffuser area dark. I've nicked an image off the internets and done some photoshoppery. Think it looks quite good.. What do you think? I then got carried away and masked off the spoiler. Probably too much "dirty sanchez' going on there. The front though — I'm in two minds about. Quite like the way a colour change makes it less fang-y. All images stolen from the web.
  7. Nic send me a DM when you are done with them. I'd appreciate the update. I'm on the version just before this one.
  8. I hope so. Have you made any progress with deciding whether to go FI or not?
  9. Random thought alert: What do you folks think of Recaro Pole Position FIA bucket seats? Any experience? Linky
  10. Its one big love-in this! :-/ The Mrs and I sat in the R35 and knew it wasn't going to be today. Either we have grown or the space inside has shrunk or possibly my memory isn't what it used to be we shall think of a new plan (probably sell the golf cab in the spring and find a more practical family car, thereby keeping Reggie!)
  11. Each to their own, that's what I say. I prefer the 'stock' look of my GT Edition, no body kit, no lairy stuff. Even the 'GT edition' stripes are a bit much for my tastes. That said, I have the spendylust for some nice wheels (which are in keeping with the style and tradition).
  12. R35 is nice. Reggie better. Got me thinking I want some nice wheels and seats in mine, having had a look at the interior of the R35.

  14. Oh and apologies for quietness. I've been buried in seemingly endless meetings. Have been lurking!
  15. Morning all. Waiting on parts... Ho hum. I've been enjoying the PDK, and worrying that my 370 box will feel a bit ponderous by comparison. Still: I've put 3k on the Porker's tyres and had it sideways a few times It's my birthday this week, so one of the things we are doing is taking a test drive in a GT-R, just to see what that world is like after I caught the Mrs eyeing it up outside Westway Aldershot. Hoping I'll get Reggie back soon. If we like the GT-R I have to convince her to swap our golf cab for the GT-R so I can keep Reggie, or failing that, swap Reggie for the GT-R. (We could use the extra seats, despite their size.)
  16. All other things aside don't rule out the 370 on reliability grounds. They are a reliable car. Seconded. I've put 39k on mine, 11k supercharged. I drive it like it is meant to be driven too, and hope to again when it's back from the insurance repair! I've got a couple of niggles related to fine tuning the AFR and possibly need to replace the plugs, but everything stock is solid.
  17. Nope. Flat bonnet, no bulge. Single air filter. Bah humbug! It was great in every other respect! Here it is: http://370zgt.tumblr.com/post/68362822932/car-history-7-the-zed-nissan-350z-gt-rev-up
  18. Me too, I would never ever modify a 370z... What he said ^^ Seriously though I had a 2007 350z (VQ35DE) and it was fabulous, but the 370z is worth the extra pennies over its predecessor. I prefer the way it drives, it feels better balanced and the interior is much improved too. If I was going for a 350z I would get a VQ35HR motor.
  19. Look at the animation, if correct it should show that each opposing pair of Pistons reaches top dead centre slightly after each other, so they are not quite three boxer engines but rather phased to provide smoother power to the cranks. It is a truly nutty design but I fear it would kill the power to weight ratio, plus: it's a diesel! :-/ I love a bit of engine geekery. Weberauto on YouTube has some properly in depth descriptions of how transmissions work. If you want to learn about what has happened to Adrian's transmission or why I'm interested in adjusting my torque tables in the TCM, then I definitely recommend them - http://www.youtube.com/user/WeberAuto
  20. The were used on boats and a few trains. They sound freakin' awesome! Three crank shafts and all sorts of crazy mechanical wonders!
