  2. is that your pictures with the brakes jon Jon it looks amazing! Those brakes are huge once they're bedded in you'll be stopping like you hit a wall! As I arrived at 7:00 am they were just finishing up so I saw the suspension too. All looking good.
  3. ARB Mike working Filling the gap nicely, but a sod to install (needs adjustment-will look at next week) I see faces

  5. The exhaust is on. The cats are not (will sell them). Drove the car quite gingerly on the way home as its wet and not tuned in but the new sound is awesomeosaurus on wheels! SPL end links for the front are on, the backs had the wrong size bolts so will have to be exchanged. The Eibach ARBs are on and the car is already more lively in the wet. Todo: Quaife ATB Differential Mishimoto oil cooler Oil pan spacer thing I got from Adrian today New spark plugs (40,000 on the clock already) Retune by Jez and the map for the gearbox. Replacement SPL end links for the rear (omg the stock ones are most flimsy) Massive thanks to Adrian, Darren and Mike (gosh I hope I got the names right-I'm so slow with names).
  6. Got one myself. Hadn't appreciated quite how big it is compared to the standard item! Mahoooooosive!

I'm of course asking myself if there is no difference in the measurements on the diagram between the 11 & 13 why'd they make a separate model for the VLSD fitment?

11 is for manual with open diff 13 is for manual with vlsd

The great "will it fit?" debate rages on (in my head). Here's some data from R T Quaife Engineering Ltd. I am reassured by this. Looks like it might actually fit (the spigot lengths are the same in all circumstances).

How easy is it to access down there? Sub looks like you just unscrew the knob in the middle, but what about the plastics? (There's probably a guide I guess.)

BTW I'm unsure of the etiquette around whether to link to my own blog, or just copy and paste my note in verbatim (they contain quotes and snippets from other forums, which could hurt SEO as duplicate content, if the admins are concerned about this) — anyone care to advise?

The fitment of the diff is occupying a lot of my thoughts right now. Does anyone have detailed measurements of the OEM VLSD on the 370z? Dave at Quaife have been helpful on the phone, and it may come down to measurements and discussion between Jez, Dave and me. Here's some detail: My car is the 7AT with a VLSD. I have bought a QDF10L, which is designed for the 350z 5AT, and has been successfully installed in 370z 7ATs with the open diff. The auto vs. manual have different final drives / crown sizes. The open vs. VLSD have different shaft lengths on each side (the VLSD is offset). There isn't a direct replacement for the auto with VLSD, so this means I'm in that annoying unknown quadrant: 350z Manual, OEM diff is Open — Use a QDF11L 350z Manual, OEM diff is VLSD — Use a QDF13L 350z Auto, OEM diff is Open — Use a QDF10L (this also fits the 370z just fine) 350z Auto, OEM diff is VLSD — Err, no idea till we measure it. 16. Thanks for the updates. I have spoken with Vortech and they agree on the Torx route, so I will attempt this when the replacement part arrives. They advised using a 3/16" t-handle hex wrench, so as to apply an even torque to the nut. The damaged part is a 0 degree dipstick Vortech p/n V2A154-001. They don't ship internationally, but superchargers online.com do, who are nearby. It was USD 44.00 plus 30.00 shipping. Ouch. Anyway, lesson learned. Do my own supercharger oil changes in future. The thing that put me off was removal and reinstallation of the front fascia. Now I realised it is a handful of pop rivets and some nuts I feel a bit silly for not attempting it myself!

I've updated my car blog with links to various other forums and resources on the Quaife installation. I'm not sure on the etiquette of quoting other forums, so I've left it to tumblr (but include references to all quotes). http://370zgt.tumblr.com/post/113334955446/quaife-qdf10l-automatic-torque-biasing

That's cool - and the more I learn about working on cars the more logical most of it seems to be "just a bunch of bolts" but my understanding is mostly theoretical - I need to practice getting my hands dirty! Having the correct tools… that's the other area I'm lacking! Ho hum!

However I'll be the first to say: if there's an offer of experienced help to get the thing fitted and save me a pile of money then I'll jump at the chance - you can take the man out of Yorkshire but you can't take the Yorkshire out of the man! Obviously generous beer money would be given.

A week Tuesday - the car is in at H-Dev for the work amongst other bits and pieces. Have you done one before Rob? I've no idea how to go about it myself, nor do I have the tools!
