  1. Its nothing to panic about, just a thing to consider. That cooler is pretty damned large, so let's see what needs to be done to make it fit. If the answer is that it is possible to make it fit without altering the safety and look of the car, I'll do it. If it isn't, I'll find an alternative cooler. Adrian's on the case now too.
  2. Nah it gets worse. Here's the news from Jez: "It will weaken the crash bar and you won’t be able to tow the car as the tow eye mount is removed." and "Looks like theres a lot of hacking to be done to the crash bar and the inside of the bumper. Your options here are fit the cooler as shown or stick with the original cooler." — it is also hard to price, just hourly rate stuff so I've decided to hold on this for the time being. The Quaife diff: the output shafts from my old diff won't fit, so we are to find out how much a new set of shafts from Nissan from the 350z AT are, and alternatively to see if we can get hold of a used 350z AT diff and use the shafts from that. Its not plug and play stuff, this. I genuinely had no idea the Frozenboost was so huge. I might sell it and get a smaller one. I'm really not keen on affecting the crash bar's ability to do its job.
  3. I asked the question on the370z forum in the US, where more people have installed this massive cooler: http://www.the370z.com/forced-induction/102490-stillen-sc-frozenboost-how-make-fit.html Here is what I learned so far: Its chuffing huge, and doesn't fit, so to make it fit you must be inventive. Either trim out the bumper and have the thing visible (uurrrrghly) Or mount it underneath the crash bar (better). Apparently when in place, some people have had issues with idling / coasting as depending on where it is mounted, there may not be a place for the Stillen intake shroud to be mounted. Without the shroud, some people report idling issues. I shall report back once Jez has been in touch.
  4. I just got a VM saying this thing is huge - I think he was wondering if there was any particular guide to follow.
  5. Why? Have you the same from Lichfield?
  6. Just had a call from Jez — apparently the frozenboost charge cooler is massive! Does anyone know how to make it fit?!
  7. This is astonishingly light. I had the pleasure of inspecting Adrian's pipes last weekend!
  8. The additive packs are where it's at. A friend that works at the Fawley refinery told me that you're essentially filling up a petrol tanker with fuel plus additives plus slops. Cheaper fuels have more slops, and fewer additive packs. It sounds plausible that within the standard for composition of fuels that there's allowance for getting rid of petrochemical by products in the consumer distribution network. Anyway. In short, I've used V-Power in every car except my old RX-8 where there was no point. Apologies for the "a friend" hearsay-ness but I thought it worth the prompt to learn more about the world of petrochemical distribution, which I found to be quite interesting.
  9. I saw these brakes in the flesh, so to speak and oh my goodness they look fantastic! Keen to hear how much stoppier they are than the standard anchors!
  10. I like the idea of those Motordyne ART pipes. Looks good, sounds good. I wonder if they clear the auto tranny?
  11. Now that I've ditched the HFC idea, I'm with my non-resonated test pipes. 2.5" (I think) straight through. Noisy things. Does anyone have an opinion on the "best" resonated test pipes out there? I want to minimise drone and back pressure (and overall decibels, for the sake of my poor neighbours!)
  12. For the diff, doesn't it take a wee while before you can give it hell ? Not for a Quaife. The gears work as gears work! There's nothing to run in. Part of the brilliance of the ATB design.
  13. I already know you need one Nic. That supercharged power just totally overwhelms the standard diff and the VLSD.
  14. Run in? That's the first I've heard of it. What do you mean Rob?
  15. Yup-all the bits going on: frozenboost; Mishimoto oil cooler; oil pan spacer; spark plugs; Quaife diff…
  16. Reggie is now with Jez at Horsham Developments. Lots to do!
  17. I have nothing but praise for Adrian/Torqen! The prices are excellent, the service is outstanding (he's been subject to all of my questions) and his communication brilliant. I got an Ark GRiP exhaust, Eibach sway bars front and rear, SPL endlinks front and rear and a Frozenboost heat exchanger to upgrade my Stillen item. I also had a Berk HFC, but decided against and Adrian found another buyer for them for me. I have also bought a few bits personally — his 7AT built transmission, and an oil pan spacer. Every time he's gone above and beyond. Most recently we discovered that the SPL end links for the rear were the wrong size for my car, and he's sorting that out too. I thoroughly recommend Torqen as a trustworthy and reputable supplier.
  18. I made a little sound recording of what the Ark GRiP exhaust sounds like with test pipes inside my cabin. It looks like it is still touching the diff at the jack point so there is a lot of sound transferred into the cabin. That said, the sound is awesome! Recording made with phone on dashboard, windows down, from a cold start. I just move off the driveway and drive down the road. I'm keeping the revs low whilst the car warms up and also because the transmission needs tuning. Have a listen here:
  19. You'll be wanting to sell the drop in filters, as the Stillen pipe work has the K&N cones on the end of that Y pipe. Welcome for the crazy world of supercharged Zs!
  20. I've been doing 1,600 a month in mine consistently for two years, (it was the same for my 350z before that). These beasts are meant for driving! Let's go!
  21. need! Can provide Any pics of the airlift on Mark's car?
  22. The car already had test pipes (decats) on. Just some 2.5" tube with brackets and a sensor port. What I didn't put on is the Berk HFCs (High Flow Cats) because everyone there said the supercharger would destroy them in about 2,000 miles of use. Plus-it would sound better as decat. I have to say I do like the sound! It is a bit loud but not overly so. Let's call it "purposefully loud" it has a decent burble at idle, it settles down to a "quite a bit louder than stock" in the cabin at cruise speeds (I mean here like maintaining 50mph through the M3 roadworks) and as soon as you add any power (even a bit) we are back to "purposefully loud". I got some awesome pops and crackles on overrun and downshift too (the car still runs rich). I noticed a much louder supercharge whistle under load than before. I'll report back when I've seen Jez on all of it. The exhaust system needs adjusting for position, and has to come off for the diff work anyway - perhaps the mounts are bad or touching to transfer the sound into the cabin (it is awfully close to the diff: one of the join flanges is 1-2mm from the diff jack point)
