Reckon Mark should take a holiday in Scotland...and bring his laptop. Keep all us Jocks happy. I'm sure we could find a dyno somewhere.
-
a best of 19? Jeez, are your local roads one way and have pits? Even I can manage mid twenties? although recent was sitting around the 24 for around town / b roads.
-
160 round trip he said, so 480 miles a week. On that run should ekk out 28mpg (boring motorway)...so 17 gallon a week....so 110/120 quid a week. Not that bad and beats getting the train.
-
Evening. 400hp and fwd?? That sounds interesting. Unfortunately the 350/370zs take mucho money to get near that HP.

Never bothered me really. I leave bikes n cars for three months at a time (due nature of job). Give them a good clean before storing them, disconnect batteries and actually fill them with petrol. Stops corrosion on the inside of tanks. Fresh fuel won't go of in a few months.

Sounds like a clutch on its way out... As for over reving....surely thats what the rev limiter is for....to prevent this? If you mean over reving when changing down...you'd have to be really hamfisted to do so. Don't reckon there is any way to check.....although general condition (and clutch) might give you some idea. Good luck bro, make sure the garage do fixes rather than short term repairs. Oh and as Whackwill has reminded me below - welcome.

Fine when carpark is empty but a total wind up when its full!!!

Nope....very unlikely. Some even fail with HFCs. Fitting is a bit of a pain, but once you do it once , no big deal. Takes about an hour (with coffee) to change them over. When I sell I'll offer the new owner either having the decats fitted or cats back on. Its not that difficult.

Hi I have a ZXR750K1 race bike, a ZX7R and a SP1 All give me lots of pleasure in a different way Rob Nice collection Rob. Admit have a bit of a soft spot for Kawas - 3 zx6s, 1 zx7 (briefly - long story) and zx10r over the last 18 years. All good in their own ways.

You cant compare cars to bikes. I also have a few mates that have bikes and they do tend to rip the **** with regards my "hairdresser" shed. However put that down to jealousy. Would you rather have a 350z or a Vectra??? Yes the Roadster ain't that fast, but its nice to use when the suns out. I also have a younger kid that is just too small yet to ride pillion on the bike. My wife uses our other car so no choice but to be a two car / one bike family. The bike on the other hand is just for me....helps get me away from wife / kids when the needs arise. I'm lucky enough to have both, and get a different buzz from each one. Welcome Rob. What bikes have you got? Assume with OP name its a Kawa?

And a few FRs had the Cupra kit...which made them stand out a bit more. Few and far between though.
-
FRs are good cars.....esp after relative cheap remap and DPF removal. So go on, give us an idea of the bits n bobs you've got left from the Z?? Megan racing springs by chance? Good luck with the new motor (when you get it)
-
Same here....super unleaded (tesco stuff cause its local) out of habit with previous cars. However as the Zs engine is in quite a lowly state of tune (75/85 odd bhp per litre), not sure if its as critical as higher hp/ltr engines.
-
Could be wrong but silenced decats (or HFC) rasp more than straight through decats - the rasping to do with the slight flow restriction. And obviously decats are louder.

yep...im over the 40 mark now so hence the surprises. Probably get more discount if I start wearing tweed and buy a tartan shawl for parcel shelf.

Well the thoughts are turning to other vehicles....so started checking out rough qutoes on a few likely candidates especially if I flog the 350z and my bike (which lets face it.....only done 300 miles last year). Now come due date - the 350z will be around the 220 mark, which I think is good (high NCB and an old fart helps). So always like the Maser grandturismo, and prices are getting realistic. 425 quid per year which isn't bad. Since my previous 33GTR, always said I'd like the R35GTR. 469 quid per year which again, isn't really that bad for the power. But the total surprise was 911 C4 269 quid!!!! Thats only 49 quid more than the 350z.

polo is g40 no? Nice if you like that sort of stuff but me personally I'd never touch anything with those g-larder chargers. Enjoy! Without the g engines....would never had the latest Supercharger/turbocharger engines that VW have now. The 1.4TSI is very good....but even though its a 1.4, insurance is still a bugger to get for my kid. Shame really.

Didn't think they made a G60 Jetta....so must be a G60 Passat (B3) ?? ( which is a rare beast in UK). OR the even rarer Golf Syncro (which was technically a five door).......would have thought these would have all rusted away by now!!!!

At a guess (and per ebay prices) - 100/120 for both. Probably not what you where hoping for. But you could always look for a used set 265/40s (esp if cash is tight at mo) - but its a gamble as you never know what you get unless you can view the used tyres in question. Another option might be to visit a used tyre dealer (if theres one near you). No doubt he'd do you a deal and PX the 245s for 265s....might work out the cheapest (easiest) options. OR Sell the 4 yu have and stump up the cash for a new set tyres in specific size...and bung it all on the credit card till next month. Worry about it then. Good luck.

Standard tyres are 225/45/18 and 245 45/18 The 45 is tyre sidewall % compared to width. So the 225s have a side wall of 101mm The 245s have a side wall of 110mm Bigger sidewall, large circumfrance!! The TC is set up to work on these sizes. Now a 245/40/18 has a sidewall off 98, and if you use them front and back, the TC will detect that the rears are spinning and cut power. Thats why if you use the 245/40s on front, you need an equivalent tyre on the back of roughly a 106 side wall. The nearest tyre will be a 265/40/18. The stretch between a 9.5 and 10 inch rim wont really have a noticable effect on tyre wall size. There are a few online calculators - and above is only a rough calculations. ***See Mcgoo beat me too it***

Good question..... Not 100% sure but when you set up the D1 unit it calibrates the throttle body to the span of pedal travel, so would assume the answer is yes. BUT That sounds too easy for removing the mild limiters in first 3 gears. I'm sure a Z junkie will be along to answer the question in full. I'm also interested in answer, as I thought tyo get rid of limiters you needed an uprev???
-
Amps the signal so instead of opening slow (er) when you step on throtle, it adjusts the speed that throttle opens (fully) - if that makes sense???. Does make a diffence - noticable when set in lowest / then set in highest. To be fair its too abrupt on the highest setting - think mine is set at 6. Oh and if its a version 3 it fits perfectly in ashtray in centre console.
-
I have 245/18s with a 9.75 rim and stretch isn't noticable (to me anyway). Think you'd get away with it on a 10 rim, although might need lowering However, wheel widths vary from maker to maker - one 9.5"rim might be slightly wider than another manufactures 9.5" rim. Also tyres vary in same way from different manufactures - one listed as 245 might sit wider than another.

Just about to test a 350 couple of questions

No the valuation was based on make model etc. Autotrader valuation is way off. Providing the car is good, and the dealer is legit - dealer price seems about right. Obviously you'll be able to haggle it down a bit, but being a dealer, car is prob 1200 above a private price. But at least you'll get some comeback if it falls to bits after a week.
