1. Cheers Matt, that does help - should tie in well with side steps. Just need to get the time to fit them all (including springs).
2. I've got gloss sideskirts waiting to go on, so hopefully the gloss finish on RTs lip matches up well. Think I'll try "shiney" first
3. Mines are chrome black - which is slightly darker than shadow chrome (i think?) Means less cleaning Hopefully give you some idea on different tones. "]http://[/url]
4. Previous cars WRX scobby JDM - cheaper to buy than the UK equivalent that I later traded it for even though better specced. Skyline GTR JDM - just couldn't afford one of the few official imported UK cars. Evo8 UK - rather than buy a cheaper import, wanted a slightly higher costing UK car as come resale, easier to sell on. Pajero or Shogun. Went for the more expensive Shogun as come resale time it was still worth more than an import. So much so that many prospective buyers actual asked was it a rebadged Pajero or a UK Shogun. Insurance for imports was more expensive, and most times required phoning around. Unfortunately (and wrongly) - pencil pushers assume as the car is an import , then parts are harder to get. Example 1 - The Evo8?? First question from insurers was is it a UK car. Example 2 - WRX had major damage due to other party (a digger , dont ask!!!). The insurance assessor want to right it off until I stated that it was basically a UK wagon. After some ringing around - the agreed that an independent could repair it. Example 3 - GTR had minor damage (my fault this time). Written off as assessor quoted cost / time involved in repairs, even though many items could have been sourced in UK. As others have said, imports generally are cheaper to buy in UK (not by much though) and in general they are more to insure. But each to their own I guess.
5. Errr, yeah. It is the same car but was cheaper. /justification Surely you only need to justify spending more money, rather than less? so to round up....your actually saying that JDMs are cheaper. only winding you up....as long as each of us is happy, who cares
6. I would say it was the exact opposite actually, whenever the uk vs jdm car question is asked most people are in a position to buy either and its usually the UK owners trying to justify they spent more, or should i say, try and maintain their cars are worth a premium But they are worth a premium.... , fact. That premium might not be as much as people think, but its still there. Two cars, same year, condition and color. One is JDM and one is UK. Which one will joe public buy?
7. To the best if my knowledge and what I've read here a few times, it only states that if you have washers, they must work Yep...my Evo had HIDS but no washers. Asked MOT guy and he said not a problem. If they had washers though - they need to work / as does self leveling (the disco dance thingy that lights do on start up).
8. why would the seller not just MOT it and sell it on for more???? Would make me cautious.....
9. I'm no expert, but I'd say it looks like something like a crosswind got under the car. At those speeds a small bit of lift can be a huge issue. Whatever happened, that car is toast! It'll polish out.

...

To say the engine "will last for ever" is a bit optimistic. As Dblock says - good oil / petrol will make a huge difference. But wear n tear will happen to rings and bore...nature of the beast. Get a compression test done - that'll tell you what kind of condition rings / bores are in.
11. You reckon? They were when I was looking, a couple of times I'd come across an Azure Roadster and an Azure hardtop and the price Difference was £1-3k http://www.autotrade.....

Had that been a hardtop, you're talking at least 7k for it. Your example is an Import with cloth seats? which prob drops its value a bit.....as does being winter! http://www.autotrade...miles?logcode=p UK car, coupe, for less money than the red roadster???
12. JDM - tend to be cheaper to buy, and cheaper to sell on. Just Joe Public general feeling on imports. Cant see it changing.\ Pre March 23rd 2006 for cheaper tax for UK cars. a lot of the JDM cars had tiny shitty brakes (as they were limited on top speed). By the time you delimit them, mess around with other bits n bobs - may as well by a UK one. Although all the "JDM owners" will disagree - a UK car will be easier to sell on (like for like).
13. have you not seen the signs on motorways?? Don't drink and drive. Obviously that means pull over to the hard shoulder for a brooskie.
14. So it passed the MOT like that? Pete I spoke to a mot tester number plates are not in the mot test very odd really tho :/ Your wrong - they are. Size font color are all (officially) part of MOT. So much so that I take along a full size plate for my bike every time I MOT it. MOTers up our may tend to be more switched on with dinky bike plates - as that is what the police home in on. My local MOT station says this - have the plate on me when bike is getting MOTd. That way if plod appears in MOT station, everything is ok. What I then do when bike is MOTs, is my problem, and MOT station stays on the right side of law. My front plate is 13x5 I think - technically small, but as with bikes, think if you verge towards the normal letter size, and spacing, you tend not to attract attention.
15. I just looked on the AAM Competition website and it says the HKS is Full Dual Polished SUS304 Stainless Steel Piping w/Dual Titanium Tips. http://aamcompetitio...ust-system.html i Maybe newer versions are full SS....wasn't sure, as I've had two HKS systems on previous cars, and both didn't have SS piping. Worth checkiing though before the OP spends his wonga. Below from HKS website: Hi-Power 409 mufflers offer a cost effective solution for your sports muffler needs. The rear section is made from SUS304 grade stainless steel for a high lustre finish and the piping section which is not visible once fitted is made from coated SUH 409, reducing the cost. SUH409 has other benefits such as being more resistant to thermal expansion and improved acoustic properties. SUH409 has the ability to absorb more sound than SUS304 which allows Hi-Power 409 mufflers to have a straight through design without fear of excessive noise.
16. I maybe wrong (probably) but isn't the pipework on HKS just steel? where as the milltek is stainless.
17. just like the new M5!!!! Bose prob isn't load enough / or broken
18. Wanted to keep the engine bay of my old Evo standard....but the standard airbox is restrictive in the inlet if running a bigger turbo (which I was). Cheap mod was to cut a section out of side of airbox. Didn't notice any sound increase but hard to tell in an Evo with 400hp  Got to be worth a try on the 350z - cant see it causing any probs providing you cut holes on the right side of filter, and ensure water cant flow in. Suppose to get a rough idea - remove airbox lid, tape up your panel filter to intake and go for a spin!!! Obviously a short term fix...but will give you some idea before you start hacking away with the dremel..

Test pipes

Even with extenders....it still might throw up fault. Some do, some dont' . Mine does Can easily be reset /checked with OBD thingy. I'll probably change back to cats at next MOT. Oh and they are loud...but how loud depends on rest of exhaust. mines mated to Milltek so probably on the "quieter" side.
20. Yep - screwed in and also some stick sh*t holding it on. There will be two holes.....although depending on what others have used in the past to attach the plate - there could be a few more! Are you refit a plate in some position - if so just get the plate made to size wise to cover the holes. My plate is a bit smaller - but the tiny holes aren't really noticeable due car colour. Would stand out on a lighter coloured car though.
