I don't work for Norton, slag away It's all a balance between security and performance at the end of the day
-
But what happens when you visit sites like bbc.co.uk, or nfl.com, or any of the other perfectly valid sites infected with drive by malware over the past 12 months. Ill not preach, my day job is just that, but I spend numerous days a week training staff on best practice, and life without AV is a whole heap of trouble.
-
As someone who works for a major AV company, this makes me cringe. They DO have an impact on performance, of course, but to disable it completely is just asking for a whole lot of trouble.

Gutted for you. It's happened a mate of mine before, but they were home at the time. They found the keys by the door, took his golf and the other halves Yaris purely because it was parked in front. I'm down that way for work next week, I'll keep an eye out for it. If its been taken to order, I doubt it looks the same anymore. Hope I'm wrong though

Out of interest, how do these fit into the Zed? Do they just slot in somewhere or do you need to hack something to get them to work?
-
Turned up today at the office for the first time since getting my Zed, only to pull into the shared carpark and be confronted with a black 370 with amazing black / grey alloys on it. Very nice

Mine came with a private plate and while I did make sure I also got the old plates thrown in, I'm tempted to keep it as doesn't look too bad. As has been said above, if they try to say something and you've got a cheap one they look stupid, but usually initials or something don't look too bad. I've actually seen one which suits me and the Mrs perfectly, but it's whether to justify the £499 it'll cost me when I can use that money elsewhere on the Zed

Well. My drive from Halifax to Cambridge via M1/A14 was 170 odd miles. My trip computer said 30.1mpg

How much data are we talking? few Gb's or up to a TB or more? I'm assuming this is business related data, so would you need it being encrypted or are you just making sure it's backed up in case you need it? You can look at large external hard drives, or even SAN's (Storage Area Networks) depending on how much you want to keep and for what purpose. Alternatively, you can look at online storage, again depending on your requirements

Thanks guys, really good to hear what other people are getting rather than just me checking corporate websites. Seeing people get up into the 30's is awesome; Just been told I'm doing a 300 mile trip to Cambridge and back today so I'll see what I can get to on that run and judge from there. Thanks for the replies

As a few of you may have seen last week, I've just picked up my Zed and loving it, but have a dilemma. I travel a lot for work and while work pay for my fuel, it does mean sticking milage on the old girl and she's only got 47k on the clock. I've being looking into hiring a car instead for a long trip I have next week and put a few figures together. I get 34p per mile from work and my trip next week Mon-Fri is around 920 miles 920 x 0.34 = £312 - This is the amount I will get from work for my trip 920 / 20 (Assuming 20mpg combined in the Zed) = 46 Gallons of fuel used on the trip 46 Gallons = 209 litres 209 x £1.44 = Total fuel cost for the trip will be roughly £300 depending on price of fuel on my travels (Assumed £1.44pl Super Unleaded) So while my costs are paid for, I'm putting nearly 1000 miles on the car together with the general wear and tear on tyres, brakes etc. OR, I could hire a chug chug from the local hire place which does around 40mpg combined. 23 Gallons of fuel = 104 litres 104 x £1.40 (Again, assuming diesel price here) = £145 £145 + Car hire of £120 = £265 Saving money on the fuel as well as milage on the car.. Have I done my maths right? Because writing it out seems to suggest that hiring car would be the best, but boring, option

How much for the car cover, out of interest?
-
Some teenager in his punto laughing as he over took me today doing well over 40 in the 40 zone. Like you say, nothing to prove and never an excuse to speed. Glad I waited until my mid 30s to get a car with some oomph as a younger me might have reacted!

I've notice this morning my CD's skipping in the Zed, which I was expecting after reading numerous posts on here. I'm looking at buying a new stereo and wondered if there was anywhere (or any traders on here) to recommend going to see? I will need it fitting too. I've seen a few on http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk and really like the DD ones with a screen and BT built in so I can stream from my iPhone. Being in Manchester they are only an hour or so away from me.. Cheers in advance. M

Front wheel sorted, local garage did it FOC
-
I've just been outside and double checked. Both Front tyres have the rotation arrows facing the rear... The garage will be getting an earfull on the phone very shortly Found a place under a mile away who will swap them over for a tenner. The bill will be going to the garage i bought it from though

So, picked up my Zed yesterday.. :D :D Seems the previous owner didn't take his private plate with him, so the garage had to put it back on. I've got the old plates just in case I want to sell the PP, not sure I'd get much for it though. One question regarding the tyres. They were put on brand new by the garage before I picked it up, but as you (might) be able to see I have Nexen N6000 here on the front and N8000 on the rear. I know very little about tyres tbh. Are these ok for the winter months of my mainly Motorway driving or would you recommend something else? If so, what's the easiest way to cash in on these new tyres when getting anything else? (I also noticed the "Rotation" arrows on the tyres are facing backwards so it looks like they may have put them on the wrong sides, is that a problem?) Few paint chips on the bonnet which I'll try and sort out as best I can and I need to get the little stubby radio antennae, but very happy with my purchase. So much so I walked out of the Petrol station expecting to see my Saab and saw this, thought "That's nice" then realised it was mine!

Really like these. Picked up my Zed today, picture and a thread will follow. Taking stock of it for a week or so before I look at changing anything, but these do like really nice....

If you had £35,000 to spend on a car, what would you choose?

DB9 - I just love the way they look -
Just happened to be flicking through E-bay and came across these.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-350Z-03-DIRECT-FIT-LAMBO-DOOR-KIT-/150646582958?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item23133c6eae Can't figure out if I like it or not. Does anyone have this done, or know of anyone who has it done? more curiosity thank anything else Also, £600 seem a little steep for just the brackets....

Maybe what to do on a brake failure? Handbrake and stick it in 1st or 2nd gear I was always told, thankfully never had to try it though know someone who has and it saved his life.

Fantastic pictures, very envious!
-
Loving those tints. How much did it cost you out of interest?
-
I doubt anyone here would advocate speeding on public roads. Keep to the limit, easiest way to avoid points.
