  1. The fit is generally pretty poor, and the illumination different - therefore they look out of place generally IMO. Thanks for the suggestions all.
  2. oh my, thats quite extensive. I'm happy with the standard system, other than the fact it doesn't support an AUX input or music over BT. Looks like I may need to consider replacing the head unit with something aftermarket. Trouble is, I'd want it to look like it's supposed to be there (and still support the standard speakers, sub, phone preparation and steering wheel controls. 99.9% of after market head unit installations look awful unfortunately
  3. Hi All, This morning I noticed that the sound from the passenger side speakers was very faint when using the OEM CD player. When I shifted the balance over to the left, sound was coming out but very faint and distorted. Switching to the right side was fine. Now, I would normally assume a cable has come lose or the speakers are knackered, but when using the radio it's perfectly OK... Anybody experienced anything similar? Car is a 54' UK GT Pack - standard.
  4. RE050A's on mine all round. We live on a small development with no through traffic, and the roads have been an absolute nightmare - I've basically worked from home all week as haven't been able to leave our estate! Traction control off, pulling off in 2nd - utterly useless!
  5. I have a Brodit mount in mine, very subtle - clips in between the centre console and the dash surround to the right of the stereo. No modification required, and more importantly no dodgy thing stuck on your windscreen!
  6. That does look great, any other shots of the car? Are 370Z wheels a direct fit? They do suit the 350, albeit for the red stripe!
  7. Has anyone actually bothered taking their 350z to the dealers to see what they say? Having replaced the struts and the spring lifts, there isn't really much more to it. Shouldn't need to remove any counterweights, or bodge it with pennies. I'm going to swing by my local Nissan place at some point, see what they suggest.
  8. A BRAVE man using it on a black car. I bet the car is covered in spider webbing when the sun hits it. You're effectively just rubbing dirt around the car. Far quicker to just wash it the conventional way surely?
  9. Looks good, fantastic colour! I wouldn't bother tinting the lights again though (if that's what you're planning on doing), the bright red looks much better against the white.
  10. ZZ3's are really hard compound - or at least they used to be. Really disliked them when I tried them a few years back. I'm rockin RE050A's at present on the 350z. Are you comparing against the 50's or the 40's with regards to road noise?
  11. I recently replaced my struts with standard versions from SGS, as the boot also wouldn't stay up - especially when cold. Unfortunately accidentally broke one of the spring lifts, so bought a single replacement from Nissan (horrendously expensive). Although the boot now stays up, it is impossible to open the boot one handed, and the wife struggles with two! Ordered a second replacement spring lift from Alex (ZMAN), which will hopefully improve things. Really don't want to mess around removing counterweights etc.
  12. I was kind of hoping to fix the issue rather than strip weight from the car! I'm presuming the spring lifts are at fault, rather than the catch/release itself?
  13. Hi, I have recently replaced the gas struts on the rear hatch, as they were not holding the weight of the hatch - especially on colder days. Whilst fitting them, I accidentally broke one of the rubber spring lifts which I have subsequently replaced (most expensive bit of rubber with a spring in it known to man). However, I was kind of hoping that the new spring lift would cure my problem with the boot release, e.g. I have to gently lift as I press the button... It would seem this is a fairly common issue. What have people done to cure this issue? Or should I look at replacing the rubber spring lift on the other side too? Cheers.
  14. Looks good, is it just me that thinks they look overly large in 19" though? It must be the design, as the spokes go right to the edge.
  15. I'm in the midlands, previously paid £55 a corner on some 16" 2 piece split rims on my MR2 which was very good as they split them, polished the lips and powder coated the centres before re-assembly. Unfortunately it's a bit of a pain only having one car and one set of wheels, I'd either need to do it in 2 stages and leave it jacked up in between, or find somewhere that will just have the car for a few days and do it in one. Unfortunately last time, although the price was good, the fact that they did the front and the rears in two seperate jobs meant that they powder coated the centres a slightly different shade, so had to take two of the wheels back again - bit of a faff!
  16. Hi guys, I'm thinking of getting my Rays refurbished, unfortunately the previous owners clearly didn't know how to park the car. I've also noticed a bit of surface corrosion under the paint on a few of the spokes, I guess water has just got under the paint over time due to inefficient cleaning perhaps. What do people generally do, get them powder coated, or just sprayed in a booth? I'd want them restored to the original silver colour also. Thanks in advance, Grant
  17. Am I correct in thinking you can get a fairly subtle upper rear spoiler for the Z? Can't seem to see it on the stickied spoiler list thread. Please feel free to share a pic or two if you have one. Cheers!
  18. I have red Alcantera Recaro Speed's in my daily driven MR2 Turbo (which is for sale), and have always found them to be very comfortable. If you're a bit on the tubby side, they won't be overly comfy though DSC_0280 by grantarcher84, on Flickr DSC_0264 by grantarcher84, on Flickr
  19. It seems bizarre that there aren't more viable options, short of replacing the stereo completely.
  20. Phone prep is easy to st up, it's best if you enter all you main comtacts though so you can call the, via "dial name" command.
  21. Just spoke to the chap at Event tyres, and he told me there would be no difference in compound between a KZ or a DZ for example. The only difference being the price. He told me that dependent on the manufacturer in which the specific 2 char code is applied, the price may vary. Often more prestigious manufacturer 'versions' will cost more even though in principle they're the same tyre! Manufacturers use those 2 char codes for their OEM tyres from new. Makes sense, but is that correct?
  22. Thanks for the link. It would seem that KZ is Nissan approved, whereas DZ is Toyota/Honda/Mazda approved.
  23. Hi all, Looking to purchase 4 OEM Bridgestone Potenza RE050a tyres in 225/45/18 and 245/45/18 Looking at numerous tyres sellers, I'm confused which compound to go for as I seem to be seeing conflicting information. Presumably the rears should have a load rating of 96W and the fronts 91W? What's the difference between RZ, JZ, Z, BZ, EZ and DZ? If someone could advise what I should be ordering as per OEM recommendation, that would be appreciated. Thanks!
  24. Hi All, Thought I would say hi! Picked up my 2004 350z GT on Sunday, which I'm loving so far. The zed will be replacing my modified Toyota MR2 Turbo (rev3), which I've been driving for the past 6 and a half years! It will certainly be sad to see it go... it was time for a change though, to something more modern! Untitled by grantarcher84, on Flickr Onwards and upwards Grant
