  1. I'd also like to go and play some too, actually Andertons is my local store too, so I know there are tons in stock to try out. I know I wouldn't ultimately drop more than £1k on a guitar, I'm just not THAT good, plus my Z will get jealous But I'd like to feel what the difference is like, high end Epiphone, Gibson and both shapes (Ex/LP) too. Try them unplugged first as the pickups will totally colour your opinion too
  2. You know you've asked one of 'those' questions don't you. Go and play them Unless you really want to pay for an overpriced guitar, don't ignore the Epiphone's either you might be quite surprised. A heap of videos here, which I'm sure you're aware of anyway: https://www.youtube.com/user/RobChappers/featured https://www.youtube.com/user/AndertonsMusic/featured For ex:
  3. I know this happened on the other threads - I'm keen to buy one too when I get seats\harnesses - but it should have those tabs welded in place to keep the harness from moving. (should be a quick job for any welder)
  4. Same as my one, it's lovely, very heavy so gives a better throw... Buy it
  5. Agreed about technique but £6 for a grit guard isn't exactly expensive and worth using anyway imho.
  6. Yup, just keep checking frequently and do several dipstick dunks each time. I'm also doing the same to see how much its actually using.
  7. One thing you can try no matter what you use. Sling shampoo in your bucket (hopefully with a grit guard, and another bucket with water and a guard too) Bung warm water in Use pressure washer in the bucket with shampoo, put the nozzle at the bottom or you'll look erm, well you'll see It'll make most of them foam up usually.
  8. You can look at the main tensioner via the inspection cover. See how far out it's pushing into the chain. Just ensure you have some decent rtv (black/grey) and careful cleaning before putting the cover back on. This is why I find it odd that no warning signs emerged before this happened. :/
  9. This absolutely sucks, really sorry to see this man You've made me incredibly paranoid now ! I would have thought some kind of sign to show, like the chain rattling etc I know if it were me, I'd pull the engine get another in there. What exactly does it kill when the chain snaps like this ?
  10. Sounds about right, my one does pretty much the same.
  11. Yep, manual. Easily the tiniest shifter I've ever seen, the throw was minuscule, it wouldn't have been out of place on a rifle. Spotless underneath too. The only slightly disappointing thing was the sound, but I only heard it on tick over, not at 8K. Would I drop £70k on one if I had that lying around, not sure. But a great slice of automotive history. A very good friend of mine has 3 NSX's, all gen 2, manual and one of them is an R It's the only one you'll see spotted around now (the other R over here is white, locked up 90% of the time ) They are awesome to drive, the R is ridiculous - the sound is for the occupants really, except one of his has a Tubi which sounds mega outside too !
  12. Awesome stuff ! Please do take whatever photo's you can - really good to see for future reference I presume you're doing this up in Warwick ? I started pricing bits and pieces up today - crikey it get's scary
  13. I was trying to use Flickr after Imgur, but the frigging app doesn't have BBcode for forums ffs Give up.
  14. That would be absolutely fantastic! Yeah I love reading/learning and applying what I'm picking up. For weekend work, or even a few days more I have a ramp I can use. But I think with this kind of tear down, I'll need a month probably. So I'll look into this too. When do you pull the engine? (or plan to start doing the guts of it)
  15. Many thanks again to Sly and Aston at Kaizer. Aston did some tweaks to my geo which is much better now, and Sly patiently listened to my on-going lopey idle/pops symptoms with a interesting take on what it could be
  16. So just to 100% clarify, your misfire was solved with coilpacks ? (and out of curiosity, what was the misfire like, could you actually feel it?) Onto the rocker/valve covers. I used the repair kit. It takes some patience and isn't super quick but I feel it largely did the job. I still get a little oil on the spark threads but that's it, doesn't go further down. The only thing I need to do this weekend is try putting some around the top of the spark plug tube as that's the only place I can think it weeps in a bit.
  17. Finding a random misfire is a process of elimination, time consuming but not technically hard. I'll post up a list of potentials a bit later today. If you have a trusted mechanic use them but I advise you to use one of the garages that are trusted here as they know 350z's inside out. Or if you're daft like me, start buying tools and do it yourself
  18. Just had Kaizer Motors sort out the geo, I think that looks pretty good I have a track day approaching so I wanted to give them a fair test. I love the suspension, feels soooo much better, even when cranked up towards hard it's not brutal. It's still compliant but not ideal for our rotten roads.
  19. Yup do that first, and if you're in the UK check opieoils.co.uk or one of the other traders here for oil recommendations.
