  1. I also use those wipes but the Zano stuff is better (imho)
  2. Video the sound, it's simple to do and easier than us stabbing in the dark at it. Could be timing chain tensioner, and if it is - and you're around 100k miles, do the whole thing not just the tensioners. If the chain snaps - you'll be crying.
  3. Well the only thing you can do is one they are off, remove the spring and compress the piston, it should return fairly quickly (I'd guess around 10-20 seconds). My ones didn't return half way after 30 mins, no signs of leaking.
  4. It wasn't terrible terrible but the black didn't quite match the original black and it was clearly a job he wasn't bothered about. I'd only ever take it to a place that isn't doing me a favour, I'd rather it was done properly and if not I'm a paying customer rather than a friends friend.
  5. I paid around £400 for a front end respray, it took twice as long and was crap So yeah, pay more for a reputable place.
  6. Ok well with the DW front arms you don't really want them to be set at factory spec, there won't be much thread holding it in the arm, so do ask him to feel how much there is. I'd advise more negative camber up the front end (I'm at -2.4ish), somewhere close to -2 would probably be advised for that reason.
  7. You've done your research, which is nice and refreshing, so I think you'll be fine. As to what settings you want, well that's completely up to you as it's all adjustable now.
  8. And keep some front to rear rake. However I reckon he'd know this already
  9. You can buy a set of square washers the same thickness but they need cutting usually. I can't remember the size but I have it written at home. You don't really need those bolts as it's for toe on the spring bucket - but it depends on your set-up of course, which you aren't quite going to know until you've had some kind of alignment done. I have the front DW camber arms, now I will warn you, these aren't the easiest arms to set. So you'll need a patient or experience alignment chap. I've used Wheels In Motion for that, they have an great machine for it and very skilled alignment guys working there. (where it differs to the usual places is that they can raise the car on the ramp, and the machine compensates for the raised car, so they align it in the air, drop it and check again - very nice) You should have alignment checked out a few times a year anyway, just go to somewhere that offers free checking after it's set.
  10. I like: Zano Z-9 & Z-10 + a soft bristle brush, and a MF cloth. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/zaino/z-9-leather-soft-spray-cleaner/prod_472.html http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/zaino/zaino-z-10-leather-in-a-bottle/prod_473.html http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/interior/leather-care/valet-pro-leather-cleaning-brush/prod_1344.html Although I've often wondered if it really is real leather ?
  11. My suggestions were going to be 1 & 2, possibly 3 as well. So you're on the right path. BTW - don't get a cheap ebay sensor, I got one to test out, returned it for a refund. (my car just stopped at a junction, wouldn't fire up for 5 mins )
  12. I don't really like the look of the 'eye sockets' as they've called them. Will get my arse in one when it arrives (I will try to fart in it), I keep being told it's prettier in person but er, not sure about that. (not my own of course)
  13. YEY ! I bought a new lid from infinity_warehouse on ebay, they were incredibly helpful and since they were nearby to my mum's, they said I could return it if the size wasn't right. I new the size for my head would be fine as I tried one on the weekend from the same brand but not the same model. I ordered yesterday morning and it arrived this morning Scorpion EXO 410 - was the specific model I bought, and I now fit in the car with a lid Of course in the future new seats, harness and bar and a 'proper' track lid but for now I can chill.
  14. Note: My comment was just so he could see what's involved - not to try it out himself GodISmE - check out this channel, loads of videos getting technical but easy to follow if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKaREq3sxDXcdeRtq4Fbukw

Yeah I've been in a few RS's too, and yeah they are fast with PDK but for the rest of the time when you want to drive on the road.. I'd rather have manual. And on track, I'd rather have manual. I just want manual ok.

I'm waiting to see how many mates order the new one with a manual box. If anyone orders one with PDK I'm going to throw poo at them

So you're telling me they don't know their customers then ?
  18. There are videos on youtube of people doing it themselves.

I love it but I don't love how they release these things, why they didn't just have a manual 991 to start with is weird. They are either purposely messing with the market and buyers, or just didn't think that customers wanted a choice.
  20. That's brutal ! I like it in a weird way, although not the triple exhaust. Reminds me of a Subaru though, seems a lot bigger.
  21. I'm beginning to dry my tears up, and there's a brucey bonus of price too. I might take a punt in April on them.
  22. Just checking - it's a frigging ridiculous naming convention. So what makes the PS4 - better than PSS ? EDIT: Found some reviews and what not - plus some apparent info from an employee at Michelin (and even then there's some internet arguing! yey)... http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/Michelin-Pilot-Sport-4-First-Drive.htm http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/91858/michelin-pilot-sport-4-review
