  1. really am thinking to try this as an option, anyone know of a trusted/forum garage that would do this ?

Abbey Motorsport replaced the seals on both my rocker covers over a year ago. I assume the kit they use will be pretty similar to this one.

All clean and oil free ever since so if done properly it does work and massively cheaper than replacement RCs.

those back window things look B)

Yeah that looks ace! What is it?

Thanks. I was a bit unsure at first as they're a bit Mustang wannabe, but hell, who doesn't want to be in a Mustang

As Jimboy2 helpfully pointed out  , they're Stillen louvres, painted black, from Tarmac. I really really like them but they've hidden my club sticker :(

Was a "will I? Won't I?" mod for me - but I did and I think they look ace - had mine carbon dipped to match my carbon B post covers.

  3. I was a long time customer of theirs when they were in Tattenhall and that store was wonderful, like an Alladin's cave for petrolheads

I only ever went to the Tattenhall "shop" once and had a job finding it. I bought a pair of rear shock absorbers for my Lotus Europa, 1973 or 74 it must have been, I remember it as being rather quaint

Ahhhh Lotus Europa... I had 2. First a Renault engine job the second the Big Valve Lotus Twin Cam. I recall collecitng the 2nd one from dealer on Friday evening and then took my girl friend out for dinner - strategically chosing a restuarant where I could see my car!

Drive home and in the morning couldn't wait to get down and take my new pride and joy for a run. Sat in, turned ignition key and "click", "click", "click"! Yep brand new car and battery as flat as a flat thing from planet flat. Wait though it gets better!

Back up to apartment, woke GF and asked her to come down and help me push start the car! She dressed and came down. Now what I should have done was the ungentlemanly thing of sitting in car and getting her to push it but no I decided she should get i and I would push it.

No problem thinks I, all she has to do is drop the clutch and stop - easy peasy.

In she gets, I push the car, "Clutch out NOW!", she does as told (that was a first!) engine catches instantly and... shoots off at a fairly rapid rate down the road! Oh - did I mention that GF couldn't actually drive?

I was rooted to the spot seeing my brand new car speed off and started to leg it after her!

Calm as you like though in a few hundred yards (felt like miles to me!) she de-clutched, coasted gently to a halt (luckily there were no other cars parked on the road so she didn't actually have to steer, other than straight) and by the time I got there (somewhat flustered!) she was sat with car in neutral, handbrake on and asking what the fuss was!

Nerves restored I drove to the dealer and nearly rammed the flat battery where the sun didn't shine! New one fitted and some free Lotus race team goodies later I emerged and all was well with my world again.

    Happy days.

  4. How on Earth did it become airborne like that? Lack of downforce or something that happened just before the video starts?

Car had just crested the rise at Flugplatz and would have been very lightly loaded on front as a result. Is not uncommon for cars to get a little "squirrely" there and lose adhesion.

Manfred Winkelhock took off in his F2 March flipping it over.

  5. Brilliant - never knew such a thing existed!

Have just ordered one as my OBD plug is used to drive a separate electronic gauge cluster onto a touch screen in the top cubby and not having the port accessible in the usual place is sometime a pain.

    Problem solved!

  6. The key cutting and immobiliser are two independent systems.

The key cutting is a mechanical item which like any key simply actuates a lock barrel.

The immobiliser is the little chip inside the key case, which you will need to transfer over.

Having a badly cut key will not mess up the immobiliser.

We took our key to a local security / lock smith shop and cut it no worries. Been working great since.

Timpsons cut my blade (and didn't charge me for it) and it was perfect right away. The girl who cut it did state the Company policy that she couldn't gurantee it would work but then added there was no reason why it wouldn't work.

  7. I had a new one supplied and programmed by The Auto Key Squad a couple of weeks ago for £219.

Cutting the key and programming the remote lock/unlock was easy but it took the techie a while to resolve the immobiliser code. He got it eventually by using the bar code details that are on top of the steering column under the plastic shroud.

  8. You know that is a configurable setting on your fob?

If you press and hold both buttons for +5 seconds it flips to "all open on single press". Doing same flips to "driver door only open on 1st press".

    David

Mine doesn't seem to do this. It's an 04 so maybe a facelift thing?

ahhh- could be - mine is a DE Facelift.

  9. Welcome to the forum

With regards to the passenger door just incase you didn't know you have to press the unlock button twice for it to open. I always have problems with my other half, as she's that quick trying to get in the car as soon as I've pressed the button once she's pulling the handle. Once she's done that pressing it again to unlock it doesn't work. I then have to tell her to " step away from the car " ! then have to lock the car and unlock the car again pressing the button twice to open both doors.

  10. Hi. I have just replaced the black panels behind the door windows with carbon fibre look panels from ebay. The results is not good. Anybody had success with changing these and if so do you have any tips?

Visit Tarmac (trader here) and get yourself a proper set of carbon look covers for those B post panels.

  11. Really stuggling with this folks :(

    I've got to this stage:

    IMG_16151.jpg

Now I'm pulling up with some force, maybe not maximum force, but enough that I'm pulling funny faces and it just feels like it's going to snap, any tips?

There is a plastic "post" running from the end of the armrest into the door card, you might need to pull the arm rest horizontally towards you to release that befire then pulling vertically.

  12. ^^ Very nice, ...got to be happy with that look. :kicking:;)

I am indeed, to be honest I was in 2 minds about whether to fit them or not even after having them dipped, but I think they look OK!

I am going to change my B pillar to the ones from TarmacSportz as the CF weave pattern on my current ones is too fine and doesn't match the louvres.(Assuming I can unstick the existing NISMO covers that is!)

    David

They look great, I've got a GM and some louvres waiting to go on. I have been playing around in photoshop trying to decide between going colour coded or gloss black. The dark works really well in your pic, gives a great shape to the area with the door window and that rear quarter area.

    Thanks for posting this

Mine are carbon fibre effect hydrodipped.
