  1. Have just accumulated a mass of bits and pieces to modify my zed and at last i think i have lost the inclination to buy more, but i think that is due more to the bank balance than the will..... After getting abuse from the missus at the lack of space in the garage due to all the delivery boxes of all the bits, decided to tidy it up and started thinking up a plan on where the hell to start with this lot.... My brand new shiny Invidia exhaust with rolled titanium tips and a set of berks HFC's thanks to Chris(Tarmac) for the speedy delivery of these.. A selection of suspension and upgrade parts courtesy of the ever useful (Alex) Zmanalex, the usual speedy service and knowledgeable service received http://i1298.photobu...449F3775115.jpg And these http://i1298.photobu...449B6E16CEC.jpg The Tein bonnet dampers i bought from ebay and after reading another post am rather unhappy at having to butcher the car to fit parts supposedly meant to be for the Zed....especially when there are others out there you dont have to.....Again ...my 'buy it now' and dont wait finger got the better of me when a supposed deal was to be had...lol The garage is now a bit neater http://i1298.photobu...449C0655C64.jpg http://i1298.photobu...4499FC609D2.jpg and i always have the jeep to fall back on should transpotation become a problem... Where the hell am i going to start with this lot has been the major question in my head so far....... It seemed so clear when i bought the stuff...but now....mmmmmmmmmmm Anyway, i may have some stuff to sell after this lot is fitted, so get in touch if you want first dibs.... Will be looking into the new year by the time i am finished as i am away for 3 weeks from Thursday and with xmas just as i get back, i dont think the wife and the kids will be very happy with the ' just popping into the garage to do a little something ' idea...... Must admit, i am looking forward to getting stuck into it and arrangeing my remap and full alignment afterwards to get it ready for the track next year.... Almost forgot, just waiting excitedly for the plenum spacer from WASSO as well......
  2. I have got these on strictly as winter/ cold weather and will go onto my 19's come the better weather so expect them to last a good while. I work away so don't run them all the time, maybe someone else could give you a better idea of how long to expect them to last, but like all tyres, driving style has the biggest effect on them.
  3. The end result is down to the customer if they go to the trouble of getting them elsewhere to save a few quid. You can only advise against it and offer no guarantee other than the fitting at that time...... Once it leaves....that's it. I have had a brand new vreidestein £200 tyre bubble and degrade on the inside wall down to threads after only 200 mile.... Only found out cause I had to get a puncture repaired...... Got a new tyre for free from it...... But what if I hadn't had the puncture...... Even buying new you are totally reliant on the manufacturing process anyway..... And the quality control I am sure others have had experiences with new tyres as well that we're fitted at authorised stockists.... Obviously buying second hand from salvage / ebay / local papers you really are taking a risk.....
  4. Ok....sorry.....just realised this was about the Obd software......oooooops
  5. I have been using my iPhone 4 with the car Bluetooth with no problems at all. Connects perfectly for both receiving and making calls. The in car hands free voice recognition is good and the set up for stored numbers makes it a lot easier than voice dial with only 5 numbers at a time, but it still works fine. It does eat the phone battery though but really can't complain.....automatically picks up and connects to phone, just throw it in the centre console.....
  6. I do miss living back down south as up here a lot of businesses know that it will take a lot of travelling to get a competitive price and so shaft the general public. I can get items delivered from London to my door for a cheaper price than somebody 50 miles away , as I have just done with my new boiler. You would think that though in this so called recession and with Xmas upon us that just putting on a few tyres and making some straight forward cash would be beneficial rather than having to go through the pricing and ordering of them as well, and having to maybe have a cancelation and excess stock. Maybe it's just me, but if it was my business I would take it every time.... A ponds a pound after all......
  7. Have now done around 500 miles on my new set of ultra grips and am very happy with them. With the roads being really wet/ greasy and covered with the leaves with even a slight touch of morning frost they cope very well. Ok....I am not pushing them but compared to what I did have on it is like being on rails.... The look of the tyre even compliments the car in a weird rugged kind of way.. Certainly not seeing that orange flickering on the dash anywhere near half as much.... The car feels very drive able now. Was going to go with Falkens like others suggested but living up north with the average temp now down to about 8 decided after reading reviews that they don't like the cold. Managed to get four fitted on 18's for £750 which I thought was excellent. A lot of tyre fitters and garages around here refusing to fit tyres not supplied by them.... Is this the same elsewhere?..
  8. Like all things that are used to jack up a vehicle at a single point, a back up is recommended. The metal framework is far more substantial than normal ramps and the only way I can see of a collapse ( other than the snapping of the frame itself ) is if the threaded Rod either snaps or all the threads strip thus allowing the movement to slide back.... I have made a rod to chock up the slide rail which is easy to drop in and remove as a back up, as well as the axle stands if needed They are quite expensive for only to be used a couple of times, but I have 3 cars to look after so they will get used and last a good length of time. I would love to see someone try and drive onto 4 of these at the same time, in fact I think you could get £250 from the tv for that video...
  9. I only got a set of 2..... Don't think I would need to get all four off at that height. Just use the jacks at the other end if I ever need all four off. These take upto 2 tonne.... http://www.cjautosheywood.co.uk/adjramp.shtml They advertise on ebay and have a best offer..... I got them for £ 280 delivered... They have a reserve at £250 . The auctions have been going for anything between £230 and £270 with £30 for delivery added on. You can buy them outright for £329 delivered from their ate as well. These are pretty damn heavy and will last a long time...
  10. Just got a set of adjustable car ramps which are really heavy duty. Can highly reccomend these to anybody. Built to last and raise the car up almost double the height of normal ramps. Height can be held at any point throughout the range. Here is one at full height... http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag41/pitlanewanderer/72E1C515-2790-4EE5-B67F-B32E45D6F66E-125-00000009C9F2AD03.jpg It is 42 cms at full height... http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag41/pitlanewanderer/61A6C6A3-DB31-4BBC-B604-E6F86DB7FA99-125-0000000994859FAC.jpg And about 18 cms fully lowered http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag41/pitlanewanderer/E074AC2B-7A69-4B1E-8DF9-DD5443C6C032-125-000000098171F155.jpg http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag41/pitlanewanderer/4DCD4C56-25A7-483E-BA90-E62134175D87-125-000000098BFD06C5.jpg These are adjusted up by a 22mm socket on a ratchet or attached to an extension bar onto a power drill for a speedier ascent/descent They are still a bit high to drive straight onto, but a piece of wood is enough to get on without scraping the bottom.
  11. Decided to fit my New shiny undertray that I got from Tarmac today as well. Excellent bit of metalwork, really looks good.... Out of the box and plastic sticky stuff removed.... http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag41/pitlanewanderer/8D755D34-D0FD-45EC-9992-1175C8AFF506-125-00000009F9955BDC.jpg Went on easily and fixings and instructions are good as well. Will have to do some modification to the attachments to the plastic side trims as they were broken when I took off the old cover due to the fixings being rusted solid together, even the mighty plusgas wouldnt touch it...and the clips don't go on anymore. Here is it attached.... http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag41/pitlanewanderer/F973D74C-D4AB-45CF-BAE5-934DA36C0E1B-125-00000009F0411562.jpg Really looks good........ Still have the old undertray if anybody interested, showing signs of abuse around the side fixing holes and a split about an inch long at the middle fixing ,but still useful I am sure to someone.
  12. Decided to change those orange/yellow glowing useless articles for some nice bright LED's.... Bought these from ebay which had the circuit so no errors came up and indicators worked as normal.. http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag41/pitlanewanderer/0B7B73AD-7DA8-4CF9-8E35-7FE039448516-125-0000000218EC1C7E.jpg Decided to try and replace with wheels on full lock, which I did eventually manage to do, but would reccomend taking the wheels off for anybody else, which would actually save time in the end. Had to shorten the plastic shroud a little for the terminals to get a good depth in as well as close the terminals together with a small screwdriver as the new led card was thinner than the bulb connections. This is what you see through the lens.... http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag41/pitlanewanderer/12BAAFD3-C9C1-47D8-A7A6-557A7C109F05-125-00000009AC1E90FC.jpg And this is what the new improved side lights are like in the dark.... http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag41/pitlanewanderer/FE171DF1-C359-4B28-9E7C-1341D8E1E0DE-125-0000000CDD734A89.jpg Yes, it is just the side lights..... Have a fantastic brightness to them in the day, the camera doesn't pick it up that well Well worth the scraped knuckles......
  13. Have just sent them off to someone on Friday..... Sorry
  14. Its perfectly practicle to have loads of fun with this beast within the speed limits of the roads if you just choose routes that offer a range of twists and turns to suit, which are usually off the beaten track. There are roads around me where the limit is ( in my opinion) too much , but allow you to have loads of fun and stay legal. As mentioned before, due care and attention as well as getting to know the roads help alot.... as well as a good understanding and experience with the car. I am planning on going on the ride drive sessions in the new year once i get all my mods done, and then track days to get the most out of it. A lot of the thrill and the buzz for me is knowing what i have got under the pedal should i choose to use it in a given situation, not to try and put the foot down every where i go.....Anyone can put there foot down in a straight line.......not everyone can control a slide around bends.... This time of year (where i am anyway) is certainly not the conditions for fun....but i am inexperienced with this car...and admittedly have a lot of learning in it to do......Roll on the better weather....
  15. Hi Guy’s, I have just got an IPHONE 5 as an upgrade but don’t need it. It is the latest model 16gb white - Sim Free. This has no carrier software pre installed, but it will lock to the first network sim put into it , so buyer has the choice of what to put in. I am looking to sell it or do a deal with a trader for a Miltek Exhaust system. Amazon currently has these at £750 delivered. Ebay has these on auction and selling between £530 and £680 with still time to go on them. Will take £550. http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag41/pitlanewanderer/IMG_0326.jpg
  16. Yeah..... got a garage..... 11 months.....Bit longer than what i am hoping for...lol.... Will give me an excuse to get those extra tools before santa time as well.... As for the bank.....havnae stripped her yet...... I am waiting to hear back about the Crawford headers..... I did hear nasty rumours about them not fitting, but thought i would enquire on the offchance anyway....
  17. I was thinking about some Crawford headers / Crawford HFC's. The way the weather is just now, it may be the best time to start stripping, dont mind spending the time as that was one of the reasons for getting the car in the first place. Will have 3 weeks off next time home to get stuck in.....if i can get the stuff delivered... Will probably go with Eibach for the camber kit and the sway bars.... but will be asking the Zman for some advice as to what would best suit the HKS coilovers i got from him. Looking to get her set up for some track fun next year..... Want to do majority of the work myself and then take her to somewhere to get her set up and aligned properly for the wheels and then maybe a remap/dyno run.......who knows....all dependant on how the bank robbery pans out....

    Z Badges

I got mine from Ebay for £19 from k2hks0 ....... Very good quality and an identical moulding matching the NISSAN with the 2 locator prongs on the back to go in the bonnet holes. Came with 3m automotive adhesive on the back, which so far has not budged. Would advise to make sure you get the area completely clean and degreased. Heat panel with hairdryer as well as backing adhesive before fitting.....created a fantastic bond.
  19. Hi everyone, looking for some wisdom with some upcoming work i am planning on doing. Wanting to replace my exhaust system including the headers and was wondering the best way to do it. I am also going to be putting on coilovers, sway bars, camber kit , droplinks as well as a plenum spacer from Wasso very soon. Heard it is a bit of a bitch replaceing the header pipes with lack of space. Would it be better / easier doing all the jobs at once and whilst the rest is stripped out do the headers then....or is the header replacement easy enough to do on its own. Just trying to plan the schedule. If it's easy enough will do all the above one at a time, but if not can plan it in to do all at once. Any advice on the above or links to wiki info much appreciated....
  20. Hi everyone, I have the front and rear Nissan Badges available for anyone who wants them..... Have changed mine out for some Z'ssss Come off a 55 plate uk spec...... Free to whoever wants them.... Will post 2nd class Uk
  21. For all that is in it after the res it seems pointless...... There is a filter in the bottom of my res which was gunked up a bit.... Didn't take much to clean it .....
  22. I had planned in sucking all the fluid out the reservoir.... Clamp the feed tube...Then remove it to give it a clean out, I assume there is a filter in there somewhere...... Refill it with new stuff...... Run it for a week or so and see if it stays the same colour.... If not... Just do the same....... I think it would be too much hassle to try and eek out every last drop..... Don't think they hold much anyway..... Any better ideas welcomed Thanks Alex...... I knew you would have had the parts ready to go....... Think that might be an after Santa job that one.....
  23. Hi guys, I have noticed that the leather seats have zips at the back.... My drivers seat door side support is showing signs of wear, and was wondering if there is a decent leather restorer or can you replace the covers..?
  24. Hey guys, Whilst changing out the plugs I found oil in number (6)........ The one nearest the cab on the air intake side...... The coil pack sleeve was coated quite thickly with old sludgy oil..... Nothing inside tip cover though.... There was fresher oil on the plug threads and on the tip..... But I think that got there when it was unthreaded and pulled out as inside the plug hole was dry with no signs of oil. Will run it for few hundred miles and check again.....Any idea's what it could be.... Is it a problem....? Must admit, found lots of fixing bolts missing from the loom retainers as well as the coil pack for plug 6.... This was signed off by a Nissan garage.... Have replaced them and all is good now.... Another little thing is, that whilst I was u serenata changing the belts I found a small leak running down a pipe Where i cannot see where it ends..... It is the metal pipe attached to the rubber pipe going to the oil filter housing.... It bends up and heads towards the eng block.... Any info much appreciated
