Saxo's are built from tinfoil, so the damage may exaggerate the impact somewhat. Glad you're okay though Paddy. Whilst it's an absolute ballache for you, at least the damage to the Z doesn't appear to be to extensive. True. They've managed to shunt three cars into one another though. Bloody idiotic driver.

That meriva was going a reasonable pace looking at the back of that saxo and then the knock on effect. Glad you and everyone else are alright dude. Insurance wise it will all come from the meriva I would expect. Had a friend a few years back was in the same kind of collision in Cardiff. Car at the back took all the blame as it rightfully should. Thing is leaving space you should do and it's all well and good but it means nothing if someone comes barrelling up behind you with even a moderate amount of pace. Hope you get it all sorted easily mate. Gutted for you.

Congratulations! Really like that engine cover.

You pay for the course which I think may be more than the fine. But then no points. My gf didn't one less than 12 months ago so I'll check with her -
Because it looked soooo awful in Wales, not lol. Looks great mate.

Couldn't have put it better

For the tight gaps remove pieces if you can otherwise need something plastic and thin I found to help get the rag in there. Didn't think it was that hard to get all the stuff off with the carb cleaner thinking about it I guess it took a few hours. As for the strut brace the feet need torqueing correctly. Technically the locking nuts do as well but I've not had problems with mine

Had similar reactions around here as well while at supermarkets/petrol stations. Even though i see more around my area these days they still stand out compared to the usual stuff you see. Enjoy it

will be other way around for me. Credit card then balance transfer to interest free. Well thats the plan anyway once i decide on what i'm doing Do it Grundy lol

I will be getting back fairly soon on this group buy. Just adding things up since also looking at another option as well but have to get some advice on engine builds first
-
I've asked them on their site, the response should be a laugh :-)

It's the best when the old gunk disappears and the engine bay starts to look shiny :-) Good job Stu, will be done in no time. Don't remember it taking that long but then maybe the fumes helped lol

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_202903_langId_-1_categoryId_255221#tab1 Thats the stuff i used. I dare say any cheap carb cleaner would do the job though. Tried to check with Wynn's site to see if it is technically safe for paint but couldn't see anything on there, but then i've done the entire bay with a rag and no problems. Could always test it with a hard brush on a hidden part just to see if there is any issues with paint work in the bay i suppose if you wanted to.

I'd bounce -
Looks great mate. The perspex slam panel in red is tasty! As for the bonnet catch, well no words needed
-
i didn't find i needed that. ive got one of those trim removal kits that has a few long thin plastic parts. just wrapped the cloth in that and used it to get back down into trickier places or to run the rag into seems.
-
Haha I'd def recommend it, makes a big difference getting all the crud off i thought. Would still make a difference in the black engine bay as well mate
-
Cheers mate Not quite on your level but getting there. Mikeyazure like MopedMark said once you've got it all clean use a touchup kit to get the paint back on there. I used the one from paints 4 u. While cleaning found a few rust spots so treated them and then undercoat, colour and clear coat. I only used the paint sticks to put the paint on but it did the job.

Once i got the strut brace off it looked shocking. Spent a while with the usual products you can get and thought how the hell am i gonna get this clean like you see other peoples bay's. Got the same advice on carb cleaner (might have got that from MopedMark as well as others) and was amazed how easy it was. Takes some time but not that long really. Probably took me an hour or two to get it all clean like that, around the back of the engine as well and also inside the brake and battery compartments. Thats the only problem, once all the gunk starts coming off you'll just want to keep going and going lol
-
Ok my go lol before pics After Couldn't get it anywhere near this with all those specialist cleaning products. Carb cleaner and lots of rags, done. Didn't actually take that long either.
-
Did my bay and had great results. Tried all the usual products and no good. Then used carb cleaner! Brilliant. Just cut straight through all the gunk with ease. Just a little amount on a rag. I wouldn't go to hard just in case but I found it cut through everything without need for brushes. Just rags.
