Just a note on this. I just took the car back to Glynn Hopkins under warranty for the exact "fault" . I've just been told it's a known issue and not a fault recognised by Nissan and it's to do with the temperature. There is no fix that they can mechanically do. Their suggestion, try it two or three times , give it a push or ....... wait till it warms up!

Thanks for your congratulations and support. Everyone is doing great. Lee, Dawn & Drew.

Baby Drew has arrived ! All Ok

So we've had the Qasqai packed for what seems like weeks now. This morning things kick off and suddenly she decides she wants to go in the Z with the roof down (it was "fresh) as it'll be a while since she does it again.. Did i get a few strange looks arriving at the maternity ward in the car. So far no-one is having any of it what it was her idea...

I can supply these Drop me a PM with your car details and I will price up for you Alex. Fantastic, i'll jump in on this as the car i just bought has a heavily scratched on...

It's a very snug fit and if i push it in then the unit resets as the power button is held down. I may swap it out for the 4.3" unit TomTom do so i can push it back. I want to see what i can do without cutting holes into the cubby area but i don't think that's going to happen,

In and around me buying the Zed, we are having a baby any time now (due Friday). I bought the car as my 2nd car so Dawn will keep the Qashqi for all things family related. Since i bought it the mother in law has done nothing but moan about how it's not practical, how it's a silly choice and now i'll never be able to take baby out... Well today we tested the pram and baby seat and with a small mod to the boot floor it fits like a glove! ZING and Dawn is very happy too as this means she can take the baby out. In your face MIL ! I know you can't disable the airbag by key but i know the plug to remove, i've got a friend who does the same. This car just get better and better ! Proof the 350Z is a baby friendly car.. by lcaller, on Flickr See it fits ! by lcaller, on Flickr My ride and &l baby's ride.. by lcaller, on Flickr 39 weeks pregnant, a perfect fit! by lcaller, on Flickr and to top it off, i fits a crate of beer in (without the pram of course).

Before i collected the car i bought the new TomTom 1005 , a really nice new unit with all the bells and whistles and a crystal clear 5" screen.. To using it for the 1st time i found problems . 1) It's a perfect size for the console area, it fits under the flap perfectly. Perfect that is without a power cables as it's so snug there is no chance of fitting the power. 2) You just can't hear the bloody thing on 100% volume with the roof down. It doesn't help the speaker is in the back. 3) Glare central ! Now i know today is out of the norm but with the top down you just can't see anything. With that in mind, it's going back to Amazon and i'm once again looking for a SatNav unit. So do i : a) buy the 4.3" TomTom giving me hopefully enough room for a power cable without cutting into the area , and seating it back for glare protection. Buy an all in one double din radio / nav system. What external SatNav units are you guys running and do they just live outside of the SatNav area ?

Just a follow up on the first day and drive home.. I LOVE THIS CAR! Coming from a diesel 1.5 this car is so bloody fast and responsive. I spent most of the trip home just trying to get to grips with everything and understanding why i can actually accelerate outside of any gear past 3rd :-) I spent the whole day with the top down and it's clear i don't have anywhere near as much hair as when i last owned a convertible since my head is well and truly burnt (a small price to pay). Reading the economy figures from the other thread i was shocked to get an average of 26mpg considering i was up and down the range enjoying what the car can do. Let's see how it does on the long 600 mile run to France. Finally my father who's 65 also LOVES THIS CAR! I let him drive it for a time coming back and he now wants one. No idea how he's going to finance that on a pension but if an OAP starts knocking off banks then you know who's father it is. I've got questions about the car and where to get some bits i want to replace so expect a chunk of new threads from me and pictures shortly. Lee

Also bloody typical... An early start today , time to head into London to get the train back out to pick up the car . Today after what seems like a very long week I take delivery at 9am this morning. A few good omens, I've been passed by a lovely bronze 350 and then a silver one.. So the day I get mine I spot another 2 after only having seen the bronze one a few times in Colchester. Bloody typical :-) The good news is it appears to be sunny today after a wet week so I plan to drop the top and enjoy the sound of the engine through the Hatfield tunnel this morning.. Picture no doubt over the weekend.

Just an update on this to close the thread more than anything.. I've decided to go for a double din Alpine head unit with blue tooth, iphone, ipod compatibility and then get a TomTom. Far easier . Why oh why does this lovely car come with such a horrible stereo step up ?

That really doesn't resize itself to 100x100 very well in fact in it's proportions it's 100 x 81. See attached but it's not ideal.

Good weather still waiting It was overcast today and drizzly .. However that didn't stop me dropping the top.. To test it worked of course

Well, thanks to everyone that answered my questions. Today i bought my 350 from Glynn Hopkins and i'm over the moon. We've currently got a Qashqai and have always been happy with the service we've got from Glynn Hopkins so after trawling auto trader, piston heads and eBay i gave them a call to see if they had any 350's and they did. Given we bought the Qashqai from them they did me a deal on the sticker price and i'm well and truly happy. I pick it up next weekend and can't wait. In the end i decided that main dealer was for me as i've got to say that GH has always been excellent for us. I've read peoples reviews on warranties etc and we've never had a problem getting something done under warranty (aircon pump just went at £1k) so to buy it from a source i trust with a warranty i've seen work i decided to no doubt pay over the private market for peace of mind. The real irony is i thought i wanted a bronze 350 but after driving the car with the wife for 30 minutes i really didn't care what colour it was i just wanted it Now i'm just waiting for it to be serviced, MOT'd etc and come 9am next Saturday morning i'll be banging down their door for the keys ... Thank you all for your help over the past week.

Looking at the units on eBay , i "should" just be able to pop the one out of the Quashai with not too much trouble, so i may test it with the unit we have. Just wanted to try and avoid that

Thank you i'll have a look. I did try the search but "computer said no".

Gents, i'm looking to get a sat nav sorted in the 350. We've also got a Qashqai and the radio satnav unit isn't too bad. It's double din looks like it should fit, does anyone know if they are compatible ? The Z is a 2008 and the Qashqai is a 2009 so they aren't a million miles away from each other. Thanks in advance.

Sunset, or Le Mans Sunset if you're not in the UK. Oh i'm not getting into that. I had this with both Mitsubishi's .. One was burgundy or "imperial pearl red' and the other Champagne or "symphonic silver" .. I'm good with copper or burnt orange

Agreed the plan isn't to put down any cash until i go to drive and possibly buy the car. The guy seems very genuine , private seller and the communication and willingness to accept an inspection has been excellent. The only real problem is Newcastle is a bloody long way and i either buy 2 return tickets or if i can be as sure as possible then i can save on the train ticket and that'll be the petrol home
-
Thank you so much for all the info. Where would be the best forum to post to see if there is someone local that would do a look over for petrol and beer money?

Afternoon all, Has anyone used either the RAC or the AA to do a pre purchase check on a 2nd hand 350? The RAC is £100 cheaper then the AA and i can't seem to find a list of comprehensive differences in the service but the AA do charge on engine size. Both services drive the car for at least 10 miles, put it in ramps etc. Ideally i want to get this done as the car is 250 miles from me and the train fair alone is the same as the RAC fee. Any pointers would be most appreciated. Lee
