  1. Why not just get a normal loan that isn't actually secured against the car?
  2. What makes you want to mod your car? Is it fuelled by being on here and seeing people with super chargers, rare rims, new exhaust systems, shiny engine bays, custom paint, big brake kits, etc... and you want to join in because that's what everybody else is doing to make their cars "better"? The sad reality is that for most of us, you included by the looks, this is never going to happen while maintaining any kind of financial stability. Seeing people spend all sorts of money on their cars is one thing, but they never say what they're earning and how much of a stretch it is for them to afford what they're buying. Going a bit O/T, but this seems related to the general culture of seeing that the older generation have nice things and wanting the same, but without any consideration for how long they've been working to get where they are or how much they earn. Nobody educates people about money and its a very British thing to not talk about how much we earn... We need a Thread for "How much do you earn and what mods have you been able to afford?" Perhaps then people can put their own situations in to context instead of just thinking if everybody else has it, then I must too.

  4. I pretty well agree with most of these comments... You need to get your spending under control first and foremost. Stop wasting money on mods (and I don't care who says what, all mods are a waste of money in financial terms), get your debts cleared, save up so you've got a rainy day fund, then you can start modding with your spare cash. If you've no spending restraint, I'd stay away from getting a higher limit on your Credit Card. Use the limit you have to build up your credit history and then pay it off in full every month, but nothing more.
  5. How wide is the tyre, and is it with or without a wheel? If without a wheel and not silly wide, I reckon it'd fit... haven't checked though..
  6. Hi mate, I'd take an interior set + number plate lights. Assume the kits fit all 350s? Looks like there's a variety of models signing up... Just so long as they fit a HR please!

  10. Wait, what? Are you saying you have a 309bhp car, but that the engine only has one air filter? If so, then I don't think you have a 309bhp car... In that case,I had better ask for a Road Tax refund and get the V5 altered I can't work out if you're taking the pi** or not?! lol ALL 313 engines have two air intakes, two MAF Sensors and the oil dipstick located at the front centre of the block. Got a photo? It's not unheard of for V5s to be incorrect.

  12. +1 My previous owner's garage looks like they were taking the split pins out without much consideration for the paint work Also, can you get a service kit for them with new seals, springs, nipples, etc? Might as well do the lot while they're off... (Soz for hi-jacking a bit, you just reminded me of it!)
  13. I was talking about engine mods HFCs cost more on the HR than the DE and you have two air filters and two MAF Sensors on the HR instead of one... Only little things, but they start to add up!
  14. I've never had a DE, only a HR, but a general impression is that there's a smaller range of mods available, and they tend to cost more.
  15. Took the g/f to the airport yesterday at 4am (Eugh!) and she won't be back for a week! Freeeedom!! However. The house is clean enough, car got washed yesterday (even did the door sills and got the bits under the bonnet and boot) and finished with two layers of wax, got more cleaning things from CleanYourCar and bought a magnetic "350z" tax disk holder from fleabay... Now I'm bored, too hungover to go for a drive, and looking all over the internet for various Zed mods I don't really need to be wasting my money on invest in... Zeditis and boredom seems an expensive illness... Help!

    Yeah, the profile will stay the same if you buy 245/40/18 or 245/40/19 because the profile is proportional to the width, which is staying the same. If you bought the 19s on those dimensions though, the rolling circumference is about 3.8% bigger than the 18s, which will impact your speedo, odometer (and possibly TCS too if the fronts aren't also bigger?). The "correct" thing to do if upgrading to 19s from 245/40/18 would be to go for 245/35/19, which is only about 0.2% out on the rolling circumference. We're going off topic here though... Back to the OP, yes, you will feel a difference when you change the tyres and rubber - whether you like it or loath it, is down to you.
  18. If you're lucky they will be different colours, failing that, buy too much and just make sure you bleed lots through on each corner, obviously remembering the fronts take less bleeding than the rears. No!

    Bigger rims = lower profile tyre = less damping from the tyre so you feel the road (and it's various bumps and holes) more. Probably find you have a smaller choice of tyres on 19s as well. And often more expensive too.

  21. ...but how do you turn the cab light on without opening the door? Can't fathom it for the life of me... It's a 2007 HR with the facelift interior if it matters?
  22. 400 Miles / Tank around town? I doubt I'd get that even if I got out and pushed!
