thirdly Hers how it goes, all we need is a brief ice breaker about you (if you want to give all that info out) and a history of what cars you have owned, then let the good and bad comments roll.

  4. Has anyone changed plugs on an HR themselves? How easy it is? From what ive just read, apparently you have to remove the intake manifold in order to get to them?!!! :scare:

now arnt you just the bearer of good news! :)

  5. where do we get the single belt for the later HR engines?

    Alex has them.

If you need any advice on fitting one, let me know as I fitted one on my HR last weekend. It really is a 10minute job. You just need a 1/2 drive breaker bar, a 10mm socket (or spanner) and an allen key (to lock the tensioner back).

    awesome!

thanks for the offer, keep your eyes pealed for saturday thats when its being done!

Theres a picture of how the belt goes around the pulleys in your owners manual - page 8-17 probably.

Basically you need to undo the water overflow catch tank at the front of the engine bay - two 10mm bolts hold it on. Undo the 2 pipes which go into it and remove it from the car. Then you stick the 1/2 drive breaker bar (i just used my torque wrench as its pretty long), pull the auto tensioner off the belt and stick an allen key or somethin through the holes to lock it back. Then, the belt will come off easily. Stick new one one and put the tensioner back on the belt. Then refit the catch tank and thats it.

Thank you for the help!! i hope to be able to pass the knowledge on someday.

  6. where do we get the single belt for the later HR engines?

  9. What mileage is your car on? From memory the 313 only needs new plugs every 54k miles.

I've got 20,000 miles on the car, but the guy before me hasnt had it serviced in nearly 18 months and 12,000 miles!!!!:rant:

so i'm planning an overhaul, change and renew everything while the garage have got the car

    Or every five years.

Early HR's will be due this summer. All servicing is mileage or time dependant. Items degrade with time as well as use.

Also good practise to lubricate the threads (i.e. Copperslip) on modern long life plugs. In the past when they were junked every six/twelve months, and only cost a fiver, this wasn't a problem, but when they could spend five years and thousand's of miles between changes, there have been instances of seizure.

    Thanks for that! :)

  10. HR engines have iridium plugs fitted as standard mate  The plugs are also slightly smaller than the DE ones.

I wrote guide for the change a while back (in the guides section).

awesome news thank you very much mate!

  11. so my ZED is in for a major service on saturday as the guy before me left it for 18 months and 12k miles so its up to me to overhaul it.

Im buying my oils from opie oils, filters from ebay as part of a K&N air and oil filter pack,

BUT i cant work out what plugs i need? i would like some iridium's but ive had 2 different conclusions to wether or not -07 engines (DE) are different to 07+ engines (HR)

could someone please give me the CORRECT conclusion or recommendations on this please?
