electric window still broken after motor replace.
dunc1n1101 replied to dunc1n1101's topic in 350Z Technical
ok, so i checked all the fuses in the footwell also. All the fuses in there are fine BUT there might be a few missing. I dont know which "holes" are supposed to have fuses in them and which ones link up to the windows as the diagram on the cover of the fuse box is in japanese!!! ha Im really getting frustrated with this. I would love to be able to try out what Zugara said but I dont want to start pulling out wires out of the loom without a clear diagram. Can anyone help? Has anyone experienced this? Pleasse help me out folks, Im at my wits end!!! Cheers Dunc1n -

What do you mean by link out the motor wires? Sorry, Im a total noob. Do you really think stripping down the switch would work? Its worth a try I suppose. The passenger side window doesnt work either. It has exctly the same problem. cheers -
hey folks, just replaced my electric window motor and the window still isnt working!!! Its still just exactly te same. There is no noise, no click, nothing at all when you push the button to activate the window. I have checked the fuses under my bonnet but they all seem fine, so i think i need a new window swithch thing (see photo attached). It could also be that there is something wrong in the loom. I have one of that scredrivers that light up when you press it against something live. I could check the loom with this but I dont know which holes in the loom should make the screwdriver ight up!? Can anyone help me with this? If I do need a new switch, does anyone know where I can get one? Please bear in mind that my car is a JDM import. Cheers

Anybody got a guide for removong the counter weight in the boot??? My boot doesnt stay up due to my spoiler being to heavy for the struts and I dont know where to get the struts re-gassed to a higher pressure. Cheers

Jeezo, just been looking and getting quotes for BBKs!!!! Think I might even have to just sell the wheels and shrink down to 18s or something!!! Seems to be cheaper than getting BBKs Whats your thoughts guys??? Cheers
-
no need for new brakes for now, just clean the bell housings on the discs and paint them. personally the easiest way to fix the overall look would be to change the wheels to ones that aren't so open and a 2nd hand set of brembo's. I was kinda hoping you guys wouldnt say to change the wheels, as I do really like them!! lol Would you not even reccommend buying new larger discs (just standard ones)?? As I do agree that the discs look a bit small. Cheers
-
haha, ok after those comments I reckon I need a whole new set of brakes!!!! Unfortunately I cant afford to spend too much on brakes right now! Can anyone advise on what to do here??? Maybe just buy larger "standard" discs??? Dunno how that would look?!?! Bearing in mind that the set up will just be for a few months until I can afford the full upgrade to a decent kit. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks folks

Yeah the car is a JDM import. Thee wheels are 19s..... or 20s, I cant remember, they were on the car when I bought it. I have attached another photo. As you can see I am needing new centre caps caps too as mine are gone!!! Im really struggling to find decent centre caps on the net, AND I have no idea what size centre caps to get!!! haha!! As you guys can guess, Im a total noob when it comes to this modding business! ha!! Cheers

Hi folks, After searching around online for a decent gear stck (automatic with button) I have decided to try and go another route since the options are very limited. Have a look at the photo attached and you will see that the leather is worn and the paint has came off the button a bit. I was going to take it off and give it a refurb. BUT the only thing is, I dont really know how to do it!! haha! I can get the knob off no problem but does anyone have any tips on restoring the leather? Decent products etc? ALSO, I would love for the stitching to be red. Is there any way to die the stitching without dying or damaging the leather??? Thanks guys

Sorry folks, forgot to add the pic..... Here it is now... Cheers

Hey guys, Checks out the photo attached. Its my Zed's back wheel. As you can see its mega rusted!!! Most of the wheels are like this!!! Is there any way that I can scrub the rust off and make the look good again??? Any special equipment I can buy?..... Anything??? Or am I just going to have to buy new discs??? Any help with this wheels situation would be amazing!! Thanks in advance guys Dunc1n

Yeah i know powder coating is deffo the way forward but that will have to wait until a later date Im afraid. In the mean time I'll just have to do it myself. They are looking pretty bad a the moment so even a DIY job on them will make a big difference. Can anyone advise on the best paint to use?? I seen a few on?? There are some options here: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/paint Cheers guys

Hey guys, If any of you have seen any of my last posts, you will notice that I am new to the modding scene but wanting to get right into it with my new Zed. One of the first things I want to get done is to paint my calipers. I am going to buy red caliper paint BUT I dont really know what Im doing!!! lol. Is there a guide at all on painting your calipers?? Everything from how to remove your calipers to what to paint and what to avoid painting etc. Any help would be great. Thanks guys Dunc1n

I did see this book, but I wasnt sure if this is just the same as the service manual or no. I'll probably nip down to my local autosave and have a look for it. Cheers
-
hey folks, Ok so i downloaded the service/workshop manual and its great!!! BUT the guide I am after is one for TOTAL noobs, as Iam a total noob myself. The type of guide/manual that I would like is one that has diagrams of the engine and explains what part does what i.e. This is component X, it is link to Component Y via componant Z, this controls the air intake so... etc etc etc. Does such a guide exist??? Or something similar. The workshop guide I find is more for people who have quite a bit of experience with engines. You are all probably laughing your asses off right now and I dont blame you haha, but I am really wanting to get into this modding caper but I dont want to be stripping things and not have a clue what Im strippin g down haha. PLEASE let there be such a guide out there... Thanks guys Dunc1n

Hey folks, Just newly got my 350z. I got it at a great price because it needs some work done to it (visually). One of the areas that needs work is the front bumper. It is a N1 bumper that is on there already (I think) but there are a few chips n cracks. I took it to a local specialist and they quoted me 350 to get the bumper fixed and sprayed! I thought this was a bit much but to be honest I have no idea?!?!? What do you guys think? I have attached a couple of photos which show the areas which have the chips n cracks. I am in Aberdeen by the way if anybody knows of any bodyshops near me that would be cheaper. Thanks guys

It needs a button though. Nismo doesnt do any knobs that have a button for auto transmissions Finding a nice one with a button is proving quite difficult!!!

I never actually dismantled the door to find this, it was already in the little pocket on the driver door. Its almost as if the guy has taken the motors out of the windows and put them in another car or something and just left the parts he doesnt need sitting in the Z (in the pocket)?!?!? Would that make sense?? Im going to strip the doors down anyway and have a look to see what I can find...... Im kinda nervous about this! I hope its as easy as everyone says. Bearing in mind that I am a total noob when it comes to cars, but I am really wanting to learn, so I suppose I have to start somewhere........ Cheers folks

Wow that looks sweet!!! I think Im deffo going to get that done!!! Will have to get the more inportant things done first. ill settle for scrubbing first! haha. What kind of brush would be best to use to scrub off the oxidization? Just a regular nail brush (soft) or a wire brush (hard)?? Cheers

Hi Folks Just newly bought a 350z. I got it for a great price because it needs work done (visually). Along with a few other things that I want to get working on straight away, is scrubbing up the engine bay. I want everything in there clean and shiny! Can anyone reccommend any good cleaning products and cleaning methods/tips??? My engine cover (the steel part) is looking a bit oxidized (see attached pic), whats the best way to get this back to looking nice and sparkly....... or at least half decent. Cheers

hi folks just newly got my zed and im wanting to spruce it up a bit then go into some serious modding. The car needs a little work done to it (visually), first off being the gear stick is looking a little tired and needs replacing (see attached photo). Now I have searched and searched for replacement sticks for an automatic but with no joy. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to buy replacemnet sticks for auto transmission, also a guide on HOW to replace the stick would be awesome. Thanks folks

I took the car down to my local halfords tonight and one of their electrical guys had a look at it. At first he thought the fuse was blown because when he tried the window swithch there was no "click" or anything there was absolutely no noise at all. BUT after having a look at the fuse box he said all the fuses were fine!?!?!? Im totally stumped. If it was the motor that was faulty then I would at least hear a click when the button is pressed!!! I did find this in the drivers door compartment (see attached) Is this the housing for the window motor??? If it is, then what coul ths mean??? Cheers
-
No, there is no click noise when i push the button. There is no noise at all, its almost as if its not connected at all!?!? Will i need to diconnect the battery before i take out any of the fuses? Cheers
-
Oh that would be amazing if you could do that for me mate!!!!! There is no noise at all whenyou push the window button, I would ususally expect to hear the motor TRYING to roll the window, which makes me think its the fuse thats blown. I had a look at the BCM fuse within the fuse box but I have no idea how to tell if the fuse is gone or no. How the hell do I tell this?!?!? Than ks again
-
Perfect thanks!!!! Although it looks a bit more complicated than I hoped!!! EEK!!!! Hopefully is just the fuse that is blown....
