Shame it's not waterproof because when I swim I really go for it! Interesting to discover that you are so much less active when you're working. I am quite 'busy' when I'm at home too although living in a flat with no stairs is probably not giving me as much exercise as being at home in Yorkshire. I think it will be interesting to find out how I sleep and compare it with my moods because sometimes I feel exhausted when I wake up and I'm sure that makes me lethargic and moody for the entire morning sometimes. I went to the gym this morning and had quite a good workout (well for me it was good) but then spoilt it all by ordering myself a dish of fat chips with mayo. Damn. I must NOT do that again. p.s. should add that I have gone for the Jawbone Up24 as well and got £25 off it at Boots.Have ordered a medium although my wrists are pretty small so I'm hoping it won't be too big.

Who? Me? I thought I'd be a chap today if that's ok with you Andy?

... what will happen in the end? We are trying to get a mortgage at the moment and, because we haven't decided whereabouts in the country we want to live, we've scoured RightMove over several counties so have a fair idea of current house prices in various regions. What I can't work out in my admittedly small brain is what will happen if house prices keep on increasing? In several places that we've looked, houses cost so much that I honestly don't know how ordinary people can possible afford them and it seems bonkers. If I look at average earnings then virtually no-one should be able to afford anything but a tiny flat in some of the more expensive areas and yet all the houses look lived in. I. Don't. Understand Are the only people who are able to buy houses today those who are older/have made a killing at some point in the past on the property market/children of the aforementioned/rich foreigners? For my part I have to admit that despite being almost (not quite, ha ha) a so-called Baby Boomer, I have never made money from property because I always seem to sell cheap and buy expensive. Doh

Have a safe journey and happy Christmas KK

That's ok. Most fun exercise you can do though. Erm, I can't really argue with that, especially if I compare it with the boredom that is the gym

Mr Two Bears finished on Friday and we have been out every day since then, just enjoying ourselves. He had only taken about 6 days holiday since last Christmas so now he's lost them all. I am hoping he will be a bit less dedicated to work next year

GMBallistic, I've only just seen your link Don't think I want to discuss that particular form of exercise on here but thanks for the link anyway

That sounds good too but I love my Folli Follie watch because it's ever so pretty with 'diamonds' and I suspect the Nike watch isn't quite like that
-
rabbitstew, that sounds positive and exactly what I need Mudman, the first two gadgets sound a bit complicated for my tiny brain and, I'm guessing, I really don't need anything that 'in depth' since I'll only be riding/swimming/walking/playing badminton rather than running? Will investigate the last one though so thanks

Bullet Magnet, I don't quite look like the last picture but I am keen to avoid going down that particular route!!

Thanks Kraziekatz I've tried using my iphone but I never seem to have anything with pockets in to carry the thing around with me so I gave up on that. The wristband sounds much easier to just put on and forget about and I like the idea of it monitoring how much sleep I am getting. My sleeping habits have gone really weird lately and I can't remember when I actually slept all night. I always end up wide awake and grabbing my Kindle to read or listen to the radio. I do quite a lot of swimming but our club pool is closed now until the middle of January for refurbishment so I must, must, must go in the gym more and I think (hope!!) the wristband thingy will make me compete against myself to do a bit more each day because I can be a bit unfocused if I'm honest.

Unfortunately, Ive been told not to run by my consultant. Apparently, it would do as much harm as good Exercise is sooooo much easier when you are young and don't have to think about all your damaged and worn out bits

Thanks jumping350 I was looking at the Jawbone one and I still like the look of that but will research some more before committing myself. BulletMagnet, I know I don't need the thing but if it helps my motivation then I am happy to buy one. Not sure how old you are but I'm an elderly lady and although I play badminton, swim and do aqua aerobics as well as walking whenever I can, I still need to do more and it's not as easy as looking in the mirror at the gym to admire my muscles to spur me on I've just started back at the gym and am quite happy there but I find it boring after a while so something that encourages me to do more will be great I never used to worry about my fitness when I had my horse because riding kept me ticking over, along with my other exercise but currently I live down south and my horse is in Yorkshire so I have lost the largest bit of my exercise routine and I am starting to feel unfit and it's making me unhappy.

Whacky, I'm not 100% sure what they do, even after reading the blurb I don't know how much to spend on one. You can get very cheap ones but maybe these are no good, like most cheap things? I've got an iPhone but I'm not very technical so I want something easy to understand

Does anyone here use a fitness wristband thingy? I've only just heard about them and wondered if buying one would help encourage me to move around more and eat less? Assuming they are worth the money, I need recommendations because there seem to be a few to choose from. Any advice welcome. Thanks

Wendy, I daren't tell you because they will chuck me out if any Zedders invade their forum. They are fond of chasing off invaders with pitchforks Craig, you must point me in the direction of the 'ladies who lunch' forum. I take it you are a member? No double entendre intended

Thanks. I'll go and look now. I've never seen anything like that before

She'd like it even better with these wheels we dipped ;-) Is that real? I don't understand how you did it?

Wasso, my daughter would just love that SmartCar Kitty Mobile!!! For me the worst car I've ever driven was the Ssang Yong Rectum. Or at least that's what I called it. It was more like a boat than a car. I had to plan corners well in advance because wallowy doesn't do justice to the revolting thing. Driving it actually made me feel ill because it rolled so much. Never again

That's lovely

Step away from the loin cloth Grundy

Bet they didn't Mind you the royalties from their book probably only just covered the amount they needed for the loom to make their hair shirts

Fight Club, anyone? I love that film. I always end up thinking that it would be so nice to just live with the basics rather than struggle every day just to acquire wealth to spend on things. But there's nothing actually stopping us all renouncing our worldly wealth and going off to live in a yurt that we knitted ourselves out of tofu is there? I'll wait and see how you get on with it before I join you

Time on my hands? Ha ha, I guess so. I've been very good and been to the gym and I'm off to the Barbican in a couple of hours so it was either play on the forums or do the ironing and erm, the ironing lost!! It's a bit materialistic .. Showing off that you have an ironing board I know. Sorry. It's a really sporty ironing board too. I can iron ever so fast on it
