  1. STS really tried pushing the Continentals. Anyone got any experiences on those? I'll probably end up going with the Falkens, but if the conti's are a good bet and better on mileage then in the long run they might be worth the extra? This is afterall a long term car purchase!
  2. Nice car Lovely wheels, but wouldn't want to clean them !
  3. Just taken the Z down for a quote on a full set of 4. Went with the information gleaned from you guys on my other posts 'FINALLY' and 'TYRES', but asked the 2 places I visited for their recommendations and quotations. Will list them below, but I'd be interested to know if any of you have tried these or know if I'm being stitched up? Went with quotes from an Independant company and STS. Started with the Falkens that seem to get a lot of recommendations from you guys. Both companies said they wouldn't recommend as only mid range tyres and not ideal for a Z ! My feeling on this is that they would obviously prefer to sell a performance tyre? STS said they would quote me if I insisted, but wouldn't be their first choice (surprise surprise) Independant only came up with one tyre choice. Dunlop SP01 100W XL J. Full set including fitting @ £737.38 STS came up with the same Dunlops for £732.24 STS. Continental SP-CNTC3 XL 100Y (their 1st choice recommendation) £797.52 STS. Bridgestone RE050ADZ £873.84 STS. Pirelli PO Rosso AO 100Y £876.24 Be really interested on your views. The rears on mine are on the bars and the fronts are just bargain jobbies. As I only got the car Monday from an independant dealer is it worth an argument with them? Got the car at a decent price I think so probably not worth the hassle? Also is it worth trying to sell the budgets on ebay? STS want to charge to dispose anyway!!! Appreciate your advice. Paul.
  4. Must be legal, cos the garage fitted them prior to collection ! Getting them all changed ASAP.
  5. Cheers Steve Friendly advice always welcome... Might just hold out till end of month and get some nice black rims at the same time Or maybe not! Guess not much change out of £1500 if I do? Might have to be tyres now then switch them to some new rims in the same size as the originals later. Bl**dy good job I'm single, although daughter getting married in 2 months time... Might have to cancel her wedding dress!
  6. LOL!!! Whats so funny? Are these cheap then? Lots have recommending them? On here for advivce, no need to laugh ! lol
  7. Thanks for all the advice guys Any tips for a new owner will always be welcome. What a great forum by the way !
  8. Won't be buying cheap.. The odd ones on the front are there because I kicked up with the dealer that the ones on the vehicle when I viewed it were illegal. He disagreed but agreed to fit a couple of part worns, hence two odd tyres with better tread! Wasn't entirely happy but wasn't going to get better considering how I'd got the price of the purchase down. General consensus seems to be Falken FK452's ? If anyone thinks others or has ideas where a good place would be to purchase them I'd be pleased to hear from them Wanted to get some nice Black wheels, but that might have to wait, safe tyres more important! Only expect to do about 3000mls a year, which is why I was happy to buy a higher mileage vehicle. Having done 50 miles in her tonight, have to say she sounds lovely and handles well.

    Tyres?

Copied the following from another thread (FINALLY) in my name with pics of my recent purchase 06 350z. Wanted the general forum to throw me up some advice on tyres though please Both the rear tyres are Bridgestone Potenza with about 4mm of tread left. Front offside as shown on the picture above is a 'ACCEIETA' and front nearside is a 'AUTOGRIP RADIAL F107', both of which have about 6 or 7mm but I would guess are cheapo budget jobbies? Any suggestions on the best make to purchase? will be mostly A1 type driving (obviously within the legal limits, in case any member is a cop!), with the odd blip where possible just to allow the exhaust to make a nice sound so I need something good but not race spec..... Was going to wait until I bought some wheels, but might be an idea to purchase soon. What do you all think? Paul.

  12. Cheers for that. Rear tyres were on it when viewed and without going out to check tonight I'm 99% certain they matched and are evenly worn with about 4mm left on... Any other advice always welcome. Especially when it comes to mechanics etc. I'm rubbish.
  13. BTW, is that a standard exhaust? To my untrained ears it sounds lovely
  14. Thanks for the pic edit Damned if I could work out how to do it? Cheers
  15. 350Z mats are fitted. they were in the boot section, just so keen to take a pic I hadn't put them in ! LOL Tyres? Well I'm not sure (and too dark to look now). When I viewed the car in the garage I told him the front tyres were illegal, which they were, so he has had 2 scrubbed tyres fitted, at least 6mm on them now. Don't even think they are a matching pair? And certainly don't match the rear, so that's something I need to sort at some point. I guess a full set will be much better, but will obviously set me back a few quid. Would ideally like to change the wheels at some point, so might see how the tyres go for now. What is the general feeling on that? All advice and assistance gratefully appreciated by this new owner

    FInally

Finally got my Zed. Took these as soon as I got home. Worked out with your help that she is a pre-facelift on an 06 plate. Drove beautifully. £97 to fill her up with super. Not as flash as most of yours, but loving her none the less. Be interested on your thoughts and opinions. http://s1075.photobucket.com/albums/w42 ... Kitchener/

    pics

Trying to put up some pics of my zed, which was finally collected today. Every time I try to upload a pic to attach it the page crashes... Any ideas why, or other ways to get pics into the forum?
  19. Funniest thread I've read yet....... And I'm impressed with the 10 Hours statement.... very optimistic (I'd be pleased with 10 minutes !
  20. When modding leave the sledgehammer in the shed................... Don't use a sledge hammer..... I'm the boss of the company, the labourers get the heavy work
  21. I might have it Dave, but probably will never back it up.... Really have no idea about car mechanics. Always bought new before, but with the wife having left, kids grown up, new Navara on the drive, I thought it was time to treat myself to something good looking and fast.... (bit like the Mrs was when I met her!) If I do anything to the car it will be simple things like cleaning, installing petrol, and maybe nice wheels (although I quite like the standard ones). Just hoping its as nice as it looks when I get it home? Seemed ok to drive, but like I said I'm no expert and the trader might have seen me coming?
  22. Cheers guys.... Yep deffinitely pre-facelift. Either way I'm happy. Don't feel like I've overpaid looking at autotrader pricers generally, but it is a higher mileage one I've bought. reckon I'll only do about 4000 a year in it though as the Navara is my main daily ride, so as I intend keeping the Zed a while I shouldn't be out of pocket??? Excited about picking her up now, then the enjoyment really begins. Thanks for the pictorial help Dave And thanks for the offer of a look over Dr Austin, will deff take you up on your kind offer (Sawston will be a nice drive out), although not sure if I like the modifications on the rear end of your Zed? It is a nice blue, but lost some of the normal roadster lines !!!!!! Any other expert viewers will be gratefully welcomed.... Im a bl**dy good builder, but rubbish with motors, so as I already have MODitus I'm gunna be needing advice and help....... Thanks guys again.
  23. Thanks for the tips re facelift or not. As I don't know the look of a pre facelift or a facelift model then I don't know if it has nicer plastics or not? Will have to shove a load of pics on here to bore you all senseless and to get an opinion from you all. Tax is £400 and something, but not sure exactly how much as I negotiated 6 months tax in the deal... Still not sure if I got a good deal or not, but hey-ho, too late now! (Paid just over £7500 with a 12 month warranty and 6 months tax) Standard wheels, so might look for some Rays as they look nice. Don't know anything about mechanics, so imagined I'd just buy it as a long term purchase to have as a weekend car, but having seen all the posts on this excellent forum I already want upgraded wheels, Black roof lining, clear side reflectors with wired in LED's, stainless exhaust of some description, etc, etc, etc. LOL Looks like I'm either on a quick learning curve, or a load of garage expense paying someone to do it all for me. Ha ha.. If anyone reads this and is local to me with decent knowledge I'll drive it to you at some point for some tips. Paul

    Upgrade

Been upgraded from Z Newbie, to Z hopeful..... What does that mean? lol Pick the car up on Monday afternoon, so will post pics asap. Its a black on black 06 with GT. pretty much everything as standard. 280bhp, so not sure if that means it's pre- facelift but late registered? Uk car registered in April 2006. Will be partnered on my driveway with a 61 (on private plate) Navara Tekna Connect.. One for work, the baby is purely for pleasure.... Can't wait
