  1. I was still having a few issues with the BOV looks like the small vacuum hose connecting it to the intake was collapsing under vacuum have now changed it for a thicker walled pipe all okay now, still a few rattles from some of the new pipework also need to sort out a usable all weather air filter setup as I wouldn't want to drive through any deep puddles so will have a play tomorrow.
  2. You only joined yesterday did you read it all ? That would take a while I looked at all the important bits/looked through all the pics lol.No it's some great Diy skills bud.Have you redirected the exhaust gas flow to the turbo first fan in some way. I made a quick spool setup on the first version using a wastegate to control the gas flow but the turbo sizing was way off on the third turbo now it's like Goldilocks and the three bears but Andy and the three turbo'sthe first one was too big, the second one was too small the third one was just right
  3. Had a few annoying problems with the latest version of my rear mount setup the BOV wasn't opening causing compressor surge sounded cool the first couple of times but became embarrassing and annoying very quickly there were metal filings between the piston and the bore of the BOV my own fault must have been while it was sitting in my garage during the rebuild I should of covered it it was too loud anyway Luckily I had one laying around I believe off a skyline So I made an adapter up from some ally plate And we're back in business The new compressor I went for on this turbo is excellent feels less restrictive at lower revs and makes more boost than I know what to do with

  5. 95% finished just need to set the Wastegates and adjust the scavenge pump controller as it's running too slow on idle except when cold and it runs at 100% due to the viscosity so I may add a temperature sensor to offset this, also the valve in the silencer is not connected electrically yet it's just wide open will get a couple of hours to play tomorrow morning while the missus has her piano lesson then I need to finish the conservatory roof before I play anymore or the missus will beat me
  6. So all of the oil pipework is now fitted I've decided to try to control the scavenge pump based on the engine oil pressure obviously when the oil is cold the pump will be running faster than necessary but nothings perfect (well except me ) I've made a new scavenge pump controller basically a Darlington driver driven from a PWM signal from an Arduino NANO which will be looking at the engine oil pressure and controlling pump speed based on my dodgy maths to keep the wiring simple the driver is going to be next to the pump so this is now sealed in potting compound which when it's cured should protect it from the elements yea I know it looks like a mess right now but it'll look fine when it's done hopefully when i get home tomorrow
  7. Do it You'll look really cool and get all the girls (or boys I'm not judging) and maybe wear lots of lynx deodorant it works in the adverts Sorry I haven't been mean to anyone today I needed my fix
  8. Don't think you'll get much interest unless it's cheap it would be an easy diy install for someone but everyone seems to want a supercharger now
  9. speed sensor would be cool to have but wont really tell me how much oil I need to scavenge I think oil feed pressure based control is going to be the best bet
  10. So I was going to show you the oil supply and scavenge pipework that I've installed from the turbo up to the engine bay but I did such a good job you cant even see it The only bit visible is where it connects to the turbo just need to turn the car around and get the front end in the air so I can finish Just got to decide how I'm going to control the scavenge pump it needs to be controlled as I don't want it running full speed all of the time it will just shorten it's life and be noisy could have it speed up with engine oil pressure what do you think ?
  11. Yea I thought so STS mounted theirs onto the upper ally part of the sump but I'm trying to keep it cool for reliability so I prefer my location
  12. this is the bare plate mounted Pump mounting and plate fixing holes drilled and painted in a fetching Hammerite black And fitted just need to run the pipework and the electrics
  13. I spent £1500 ish can't remember exactly got an engine with 40,000 Km on it even came with most ancillaries from Nippon Auto Spares in derby then it's just fitting well that and the obvious while it's out clutch/release bearing and service items still be less than going to global
  14. Again not much of an update all of the charge pipework is now welded instead of brazed and all fitted still waiting for a couple of -an4 fittings for the oil line to the turbo so while I'm waiting thought I'd get on with mounting the scavenge pump after much poking around I've decided to fit it on the passenger side at the front next to the bottom corner of the radiator I've removed this piece of the arch liner ? and fabricated a new one in quite thick ally plate to mount the pump on Obviously this will be attached with additional fixings not just the plastic clips that the standard piece uses
  15. So this arrived Friday my new ac/dc tig have just been waiting for the Ally welding rods which arrived today So I obviously ignored my wife when I got home and went straight into the garage to play managed to get the longest piece of the pipework I brazed up last week cut apart and welded back together before I was menaced and had to stop play for the day. other than the fact that the picture is really crap the pipework is the same as before the only difference being that I won't be worried that it will come apart while i'm doing 70 +/- 10% will get the rest of the pipework re-made this week then I'm just waiting on some fittings for the oil pipework.
  16. lots of people running superchargers with cats on here it's the way to go even if it's only for the mot
  17. Yea as Dan said Aircon rad
  18. Had all of the pipework finished and was refitting it after cleaning it up when one of the joints cracked not the end of the world I could have repaired it but I'm no longer convinced that another joint won't go so I'm gonna do what i should have done in the beginning and weld it instead you may notice the flaw in my plan the reason I brazed it in the first place was that I only have a DC TIG welder so can't weld Ally So my new AC TIG welder should be here Monday the missus didn't even lift an eyebrow when I told her then again she has just knackered one of her 19" BBS split rims on her car that will probably cost as much as my welder.
  19. Sorry for an uninteresting update but I like to keep it up to date. At the very least I would have had to modify the charge pipework between the turbo and the intercooler but decided to change it as even though it was thin wall stainless it was still quite heavy so I decided to make it in ally the only problem with that was I only have a dc Tig welder so can't weld ally so decided to braze it with low temp ally brazing rods it's not an ideal solution but "it's what I've got" as they say the pipework is complete to the back of the Engine just the fiddly bit past the front suspension to do should get it finished this week This is the piece that goes from the turbo around the diff and right up to the Flexi coupling on the Y pipe The next piece goes from there over the gearbox cross member to just before the front suspension this is visable running alongside the gearbox The last piece will be the tricky bit past the front suspension to the intercooler
  20. What you mean never ending you should see Wassos V8 project that's been going on for years I have seen it I even considered the v8 swap when i killed my first engine but seeing how long Wasso's is taking i'm glad i didn't bother but he'll get there and it'll sound fantastic
  21. What you mean never ending
  22. Yea I think a lot of people silently view my ramblings (Probably shaking their heads saying "What is he on ?") 400 odd posts on this thread half of which are me but 18000+views ? I recon 18000 views is enough incentive to get your idea to work. No pressure mate! .... Lol Damn now I have performance anxiety usually only get that in bed.

  24. Does a bit doesn't it. Great job Andy. Would love to hear how it sounds when it's all sorted. yea I can't wait to hear it I want to see what difference the valve makes in the tailpipe but will have to wait until I get the oil supply to the turbo don't want to ruin the bearings
