A contractor at work today say's to me "you voting today ?" me "for what ?" him "the election." me "is it local ?" him "the general election, are you taking the P*** out of me" Basically he was pretty convinced I was winding him up Apparently there's an election tonight I only found this out today and I'm proud of my friends family and work colleagues for knowing me so well that no one mentioned it to me. if it wasn't for the contractor at work I still wouldn't know or care you see I live in my own little world i don't watch the news, read news papers, listen to the radio, have any dealings with social media every time someone says to me what do you think of ? or did you see ? or did you hear ? it always ends with some sort of catastrophe or bad news. I don't even know who the current prime minister is or what party is in power If I watch tv it's either sci-fi fantasy or comedy the same goes for what I read if I need to know something my wife tells me So am I odd I don't think so I think I'm the sane one who's not depressed due to all the doom and gloom and useless depressing information in my head It's great in my world all fluffy white bunnies and unicorns "ohh look at the baby deer."

Strangely I really like this thread it's like the uk version of man v food (without the fat loud americans)

I've got the servo mount done now Also made a new adapter for the end of the fuel line as the old one was too big and in the way space wasn't an issue at the time and it was designed to mount on the inlet plenum like the factory one. as you can see the new one will be much smaller waiting for some hose fittings before I can do anything else

my wife's got one in her Z4 works really well good picture quality in fact I'm just going outside now to hardwire it in. not actually seen it in the dark to be honest

Hey leave us OCD freaks alone it's bad enough my missus takes the P*** out of me over it

Just the ironing's out for me

no the ecu issues are still issues I'm ignoring it while I sort out the the throttle servo mount which I've literally just finished 10 min ago which is good but it does mean I can't put off the ecu issues any longer but maybe after ignoring it for a week I'll come back to it and spot the problem straight away if not I will have to decide whether or not to spend some cash and go haltec or similar or scrap the project but I'm not there yet Any advice especially when it comes to balancing the throttle bodies always welcome.

Always good to get some confirmation on decisions you make on a project like this from someone who's actually looked into it rather just read stuff on the internet which is notoriously unreliable

looking good but it's nice to see someone else progressing as slow as me makes me feel better thx

It's not that its impossible to do with this ITB setup it's just not worth the added complication at this point in time maybe when I get it all up and running I'll think about it.
-
no the pcv setup won't be used at all just vented to atmosphere through a catch can and a filter

Missus let me play today the sun was out so I decided to make the most of it got the new lower profile rocker cover fitted (from an Elgrande I believe) also trial fitted the throttle body setup minus one of the velocity stacks since the fuel return system is in the way over all clearance is pretty good the tightest point is the new filler cap and the rear breather But for me this was the best part, the bonnett actually shuts woo hoo so now I can make up the mountings for the servo and re-do the fuel return system and I'm pretty much ready to go

it looks like the utec ecu was only ever designed to take a 3 BAR map sensor so the gradient and intercept values it allows you to put in are 0-300 I'm using a 1 bar map sensor which was designed for n/a vehicles and the gradient is much higher due to its range I have managed to frigg the values and have it reading 10 psi with the engine not running and 3 psi at idle with 3 psi being the 10% load site then when you lift off the accelerator while driving the vacuum goes out of normal range and tries to go back to the standard ecu which it doesn't like probably because the MAF sensor is out, I can get it to stay on the load map but then on idle it will be on about the 50% load site. I'm sure I can find a way around it but right now it's being a right PITA

Did some measuring last night the arm on the servo is too short got to make a new one again.. Did wonder about the angle and resulting ratio on that set up, but I'm sure you have it under control, i'm sure all your work will pay off soon, cant wait to hear it running. already made and fitted all ok now if I can just sort out these ECU issues then I can pretty much start fitting it. just got to make the bracket for the servo but want to get it on to check clearances first
-
no updates for a while you may have noticed I've been trying to get the ecu to work with the map sensor with the MAF pulled out and to be honest it's been the nightmare I expected But you may have noticed I'm pretty stubborn (sometimes mistaken for patience) I do have it working and driveable but there are problems for instance utec didn't foresee some one using the map sensor on an na engine for load so the gradient and intercept points the ecu will accept for the map sensor are out of range for the map sensor I'm using just one of many issues but I'm getting there slowly. I really need to get the ecu running with the map sensor first before I fit the throttle bodies or I'll never get it to work if it comes to having to fit a new ECU then I'm afraid I will be abandoning this project but don't worry it hasn't come to that yet

looking fantastic nice work.

Was feeling fed up today in lots of pain so I went out and spent money to cheer myself up I did have two 24" monitors a quite new iiyama which I mostly used in portrait for programming GCODE and C mostly and an older LG so I kept the iiyama and bought these two 24" curved samsung monitors and then I started looking at replacing my desk which has seen better days and found this But surely I wouldn't do that would I (so tempted ) So anyone else got setups the missus thinks is excessive and unnecessary admittedly my missus has good reason I have my main PC an I7 6700k 32GB ram,my another I7 in the gym my cnc machine is an amd a10 my 3d printer machine is an dual core intel then I have 2 laptops and 3 windows 10 tablets Oh and a htpc I think I may have a problem

Yes is the simple answer (if it fits)

Strangely I'm not at all patient unless I'm interested in something and then I'm like a buddhist monk

The correct M5 rose joints arrived today so when I got home I made up a temporary mounting bracket for the throttle controller so I can test fit it to check for clearance before making it properly Might get it test fitted with all of the velocity stacks this weekend if the weather holds off

I had four attempts at this before I got it right so much work far so little progress to actually cut took about 45 min and the initial cad took about 20 min but cutting it four times and redesigning it 3 times well let's just say it wasn't quick Just need to sort out the mounting bracket for the throttle servo and get the right hand rose joints instead of the left hand that I actually ordered and I can have another trial fitting to see what else I forgot about

aren't you about the same age as me ?As for lack of progress the cheek of the man That arm was about an hour in CAD an hour in CAM and three hours on my mill but the part looks good I'm not sure if we are the same age I'm 16 well thats what the wife says my mental age is I think this body has clocked in 48 years now I do envy a man with a mill that can take CAD designs mine is just a good old hand cranked machine, I do design a lot of rectangles to solve problems We only differed with the TV channeI watched the history channel until a little after midnight, up by 7am wife wasn't snoring this morning though (makes a change ) Keep up the good work, you should have come up to Japfest though Really wanted to go to Japfest but my Z looks like someone's be using it as a skip the outside's not too bad just really dirty but the interior's minging and that's me being nice but I really do need to meet some of the people on this forum who I've been taking the P*** out of for the last few years
