Sorry alex i thought you sold your biz to clark motorsports? I've been in touch with ewen but if you're still trading independently i'll get in touch when i have a confirmed list of required components from the bodyshop. -
Bollocks. The clutch & fly problems are on the 370z you're looking to trade it in for haha

No CEL after crash - need advice on potential hidden damage
Dynamic Turtle replied to Dynamic Turtle's topic in 350Z General
Yes we had a warning about track and grass damage during the briefing. However they (apparently) only levy fines if it's due to wantonly aggressive driving and sheer stupidity. If you behave yourself all day and come a cropper due to an unfortunate error of judgement, they're fine about it. They were just relieved that I was OK. -

Thanks. The irony is that I just didn't have time to arrange the insurance before going - we bought the tickets the evening before the trackday. However I will obviously be buying some in future and only going on circuits with wide run-off areas (I don't care how boring they are) and plenty of tyre wall protection around the bends. The zed really is a great car on track and can clearly protect its occupants, but stopping 1500 odd kilos of momentum once you touch the grass is always going to be difficult; brakes don't work on the green stuff. I should also say that the Snetterton administration team and paramedics were absolutely first class from start to finish - no blame, anger, accusations or costs faced at my end. Just a super friendly, supportive and efficient attitude. Re damage I will get quotes up as and when I get the final bill. I selected a local bodyshop who recovered it for free and who also has a 350z bumper in stock, both of which have saved a fair bit of cash. I think I'm looking at roughly £1500 cash for all the labour, bodywork and airbag bits at the moment, but this doesn't include potential damage to more serious stuff which has yet to raise its head (like the engine and chassis as you say) The main expense so far has been the hire car. £98 a week for 2014 1 litre fiesta - a very dangerous car with no grip, brakes, torque or steering feel and massive understeer over 20mph. However it runs on a combination of air and magic and is currently returning 4,600mpg. I still hate every minute driving that wet sponge of a car though... DT -

Please PM me with best prices delivered. My car is a UK 2005 GT Coupe (DE engine) in Kuro. (Potentially) an offside headlamp - sadly the whole unit - plastic bracket broke which is integrated into the design rather than sold separately. (potentially) JDM seatbelt anchors if they have a different anchor shape to the UK cars? Front number plate holder (plastic lump that screws to the bonnet) Front bumper air deflectors which channel flow to the radiator Thanks, DT

Hi guys, I took a bit of a knock at Snetterton last week hitting a tyre wall (thankfully) at around 25mph after losing drift control around a corner. I had new ARBs fitted the week before and wanted to give them a workout - maybe they were too rigid! I can't blame the roll bars actually - I simply applied too much throttle and didn't let off as my drift angle increased. I am clearly not Vin Diesel but at least I'm attempting my impersonations in a more appropriate venue than the public roads. Well sometimes... Anyway the impact was bad enough to crack the front bumper, bend the wings and knock the left light out of alignment as you can see in the pics. The airbags also deployed and being punched on the nose by one of these was the most painful bit of the accident. The car is in the bodyshop now for a full refit and I'll be putting out a "wanted" ad for various components in due course as the car was completely uninsured. The weird thing however, is that the engine starts fine and revs great, and there is no CEL warning - which I'm pretty shocked about given the impact. There are no oil or coolant leaks (just the washer bottle!) and the rads/oil cooler and fans appeared to have escaped any damage. Engine temp is stable. A bit of context: The crash happened on lap 2 of a 5 lap session (my 25th lap of the day) I was gunning at full speed after a warm-up lap so the car was running hot Obviously the car stops dead after a crash and does not have time to cool down properly However, even though the CEL is off I've noticed the following things: The clutch pedal feels a fair bit heavier than before the crash The battery voltage is slightly higher upon ignition (hovering around 15.25 rather than 14.8) Oil pressure seems slightly higher than normal on ignition (around 90/100 - I don't it's ever been that high on ignition) Are these signs symptomatic of anything (lack of cool-down after a high-temp impact?) or are they just damaged sensors? Where should I look for hidden engine damage that could raise its ugly head further down the line? Should I do a complete fluid change (brakes/oil/coolant) or would this be unnecessary given that I had a P2 service 500 miles prior to the accident? Many thanks in advance for any help. DT

Yeah, I think I'll take the platinum warranty cover with that. Holy sh*t.

That's a shocker AJR, sorry to hear about this. And £9500 for a gearbox replacement WTF - that's GTR prices surely?! Unbelievable. DT

Write off or not? What do people think? Gutted isn't the word!!!
Dynamic Turtle replied to Easty's topic in 350Z General
Exactly my thoughts. Damage looks basically the same as Wasso's, but his airbags didn't deploy, probably saved his cars life to be honest otherwise on-top of the damage for paint, new door, new 1/4 panel they will need at least 2 new airbags (more if you/the original owner took the optional extra with door & A pillar airbags), new seatbelt pre-tensioners as they would have fired too and I cant remember if they have to reset the ECU that controls them but I believe it may be a replacement one of those too. Hmm, forgot about pre-tensioners. Any way of checking whether they've fired or is it an OBD job? And why would the airbag ECU need resetting or replacement? -
I know - but I was merely saying that something similar could have been designed and exeucted on a PS2, in terms of general mechanics - it's not a huge leap forward is it? And certainly not as *&^%$£ amazing as Halo was on the original xbox when it first came out. Remember the sheer scale of the thing??
-
Have to admit...TF feels like a PS2 game in terms of mechanics. Is it really moving things on? Even the "next gen" graphics are a bit ho-hum.

The CSL wheels are a visual improvement but it's still looks like any other Z4 which is a good or bad thing depending on which way you're inclined... The prices of Z4M has risen a bit over the last 12 months, I guess due to the few of them they sold over here.
-
Just a quick question re the passenger side airbag, are you selling just the metal airbag unit or th unit + the large plastic cover/trim section too? I need both...

Anyone having a massive PITA with BF4 on the 360? It's been a shambolic bug-fest for months now. WTF are Dice doing about it? Is it running smoother on XB1?

If it's any use as a point of reference, the non-turbo 2012 3.0L Z4 (Non-M, folding hard top) I spent a few hours in last weekend suffered from horrendous wind and tyre noise, but the ride was surprisingly subtle for 19" alloys on runflats. It was pretty much neck & neck with my Zed (DE running 285bhp) around Snetterton but had standard clutch/brake/chassis so the M version will probs be considerably quicker than a DE. Nice car but a bit femme - too much tech and not enough engine drama / too businesslike.

I've had a couple of accidents in the past three weeks - enough to warrant calling out the breakdown/recovery insurers but not bad enough to warrant making claims on my main vehicle insurance policy once the excess and premium increase costs are factored in. Do I have to tell my main insurer about these events despite the fact they were relatively minor incidents not involving any 3rd parties (thank god). Furthermore how would anybody (reasonably) know about any past accidents that may have occurred before they bought the car? Could an insurer invalidate cover on that basis? The breakdown policy does not state that it shares my details with any "group companies" or reports details of any callouts or accident recoveries to a national database, but my car insurer's policy says: In order to prevent and detect fraud insurers may, at any time pass details to Insurance Hunter, a central insurance application and claims checking system, whereby it may be checked against information held by Insurance Hunter and shared with other insurers. However it does not state that I need to inform them about any accidents I pay to repair out of my own pocket. Anyone had issues in this area before? Oh and I need a new front bumper in kuro if anyone's selling DT
