Pretty much any 4WD turbo is going to set a searing pace, it's not like scoobies and evos weren't doing the same 20 years ago, albeit burning a lot more petrol in the process...

Used to have a miltek and hfc on my 350, now running a cobra on the 370 and it sounds pretty good. Nice rumble at low revs and half decent over run. Little bit boomy at 3000rpm / 80mph but not excessive. Miltek was quieter by comparison but I miss the hfc. Not paying 600 quid for a new set though!

Nice to see full trackdays there and thanks for posting. Not quite sure I agree with your description of Spa as "fairly easy to learn" or "ideally suited to the zed" though ;-)

Good exhaust choice ;-)

Am I Asking To Much For My 2006 Z
Dynamic Turtle replied to keithvmx1200's topic in Spotted on Ebay or Other
Unusual to see such a low mileage example but if it's the high tax year that might put people off somewhat. Maybe list it where people are actually buying cars, like this forum, autotrader, or pistonheads? £7,995? -
OK thanks for the explanation guys, much appreciated as always. I didn't realise this was relatively similar to gap insurance and yes I guess it does make sense given the high probability that I will have a serious accident at some point in the next three years. I'm also guessing any shortfall is relatively limited in the first few months but then accelerates as time goes on (currently £26.3k vs £29k invoice)? £450 appears to be more than double most of the other provviders out there but I appreciate that there will be certain administrative efficiencies choosing the nissan deal.

Just had a call from Nissan Finance re the my new Nismo, trying to sell me some sort of additional insurance policy to cover the risk of having a CatD write off. I have no idea what this kind of policy covers, or whether it’s necessary on top of the general car insurance. They quoted me £430 for three years of cover (basically the life of the PCP deal). What the hell is this stuff and why do I need it? Has anyone here ever used it? Is it worthwhile? Can it be found cheaper elsewhere? Thanks, DT

Ok so I've managed to crack out another 500 odd miles this weekend and also bolted the cobra zorst to her rear end (thanks to gumpy!). Also had a 60 mile drive in the 350 for old times sake and to have a fresh opinion. The cobra is good. Immediately noticeable increase in performance, whether from lower weight or more bhp, defo felt quicker. Much nicer sound at lower revs, throatier and less harsh at higher revs. Fits nicely under the rear balance and doesn't stick out at all, slash cuts actually look pretty good. On the downside it is quite boomy in the cabin at 3000rpm/80mph, unlike the miltek. Not that you can hear anything over the bridgestones anyway :-) Biggest benefit has been synchro rev, which was good before but is frikkin awesome now, you can really hear the double-braap in neutral and it's very addictive. Not sure if I'll bother with hfc but the engine still has a slightly annoying whine that sounds like an electric blender. Not sure how to tackle that one. stepping back into the 350 later was nice. Feels lighter and perkier than the Nismo, the way the engine revs and the zorst grumbles is just lovely. The ride made me think that its actually the better car and whether I'll regret selling it for five grand.

Curing 370z Ultra Lazy Throttle Response

Don't get me wrong sipar I'm not spoilt or unhappy with it, just annoyed that Nissan has choked so much of its potential. Theyre far from the only manufacturer to do so. Anyway I'm sure once the aforementioned areas of weakness have been adressed it'll go from being a good car, to a very good one. Just need patience and a bit of money... -

£235 is a bit too much - think I'd rather pay another 165 and have a proper uprev at Abbey, they can sort about a dozen other jobs on the car at the same time too. £150 is a more sensible price for a cable and £3 box of of pcb to be honest... -
Clutch seems fine to me. Actually prefer a lighter touch, less DOMS pain the day after squatting :-)

Curing 370z Ultra Lazy Throttle Response
Dynamic Turtle replied to Dynamic Turtle's topic in Performance
Octet were all big boys here and know what the 370 concept is capable of and we also know that corporate envirosocial retard-yank bull often gets in the way of an amazing thing (fuse 22 anyone?). So it is with the 370N. So let's not pretend it came from the factory all perfect because it simply didn't. £2k remedies all that. Anyway, would be very grateful if you could source one I just hope it's as effective as you claim... -

Should also say that we know exactly what Nissan are capable of producing - just look at the gtr. So when they release a vehicle with a Nismo badge of course it's disappointing when it sounds like an asthmatic hairdryer and revs like your mums diesel. Clearly if spend a literally more on some choice mods it becomes the car it should've been. Sadly a Nissan warranty and pcp is restricting my options somewhat... -
Curing 370z Ultra Lazy Throttle Response
Dynamic Turtle replied to Dynamic Turtle's topic in Performance
Don't regret it quite yet (let's see just how fast it depreciates though). It just needs the usual suite of powertrain mods to really make it sing, not really any different to the 350, which is a lot more fun with a zorst and hfc mods. The nismos chassis is sublime, it is faster and more stable at speeds but it has some serious issues with rev laziness, tyre roar and silent exhaust that needs addressing, imho. -

Manual. Where di you source yours from? Looking at around £150? -

Well I have been stamping the pedal pretty hard and it's nothing like my (admittedly, Uprevved) 350z. The Apexi controller appears to have several "modes" - maybe on of them is smoother than the D1 effect you describe? -

Really? Seems to be some positive press on the forums from Apexi / D1 users? -
As per the title are there any methods of improvement the snail’s pace throttle response on the 370ZN without spending £400 on a remap and even more on a lightweight flywheel? Is that D1Spec widget the answer? How does it work, is it worth the hassle and is it a viable long term solution? Absolutely hate the fact that the engine basically won’t rev in neutral! It feels like a diesel VW.

While I'd hesistate to call that cheap (mums Ford 200 squid all round) but yep for rubber of that qualitaaay you got a bargain there. Can't wait to change the s001 on the nismo, loudest tyres ever :-(

Looks like my mates following through with his build slot after seeing the the recent vids wohoo I may actually get to ride in one of these :-)

If you haven’t watched the Evo interview with the head of development you need to. This is basically a mid-engine manual GT3 for £64k (rather than the £128k it should be) and is probably the “cheapest†Porsche ever made. They’ve thrown serious amount of R&D at this thing – I mean mega money. The only thing it’s missing is a dry sump and Perspex windows. Nice to hear a Clubsport version is coming soon… I mean, just listen to the thing. Would love the opportunity to drive one and hopefully one of my friends who actually has a build slot will actually shop his Exige and buy it.

Thanks Sipar, having it installed on friday and very much looking forward to drowning out the white noise of the Bridgestones with something more tuneful :-)
