Southeast & London Japfest Convoy (2019) - South Mimms
cs2000 replied to cs2000's topic in National Events & Shows
From previous years, i think it was 8:30 or something, either way, the earlier we get there, the less traffic you sit in, hence why we leave south mimms at 6:40 -

Yes, that did happen, cant remember who it was now! We missed the turning off of the M1 so had to double back. Funny thing was, every car in the convoy followed him -
One more of these left guys as mentioned above. Dont really want it laying around, so if someone wants it, its yours for £30. Just drop me a PM to confirm. First PM gets it. After that, i think im out of this game, got some more projects i want to move onto.

Biggest turn out for this little convoy yet! Weathers looking good too for us thankfully! Me and my copilot should be on site by something like 6:15-20 and we will be rolling out by 6:40 The guys at the BP station have never given us any trouble for meeting in there as nobody else meets there, at lest they haven't in the last 3 years we have met there, we don't clog up their site as we usually meet on the left hand side as you drive in, the parking bays there are usually empty at that time of the morning. Worth checking on this forum post if you struggle to find us, il be checking in, trying to find anyone that gets lost, or if we have to change locations on site. Just as a reminder for anyone that hasn't been on this route/to Japfest before. For large sections of the M25 and M1, there are speed cameras on the side, or above the motorway gantry's, so, i mean, drive how you want, but just be aware they're there. Whoever ends up leading (i did for large chunks of last year) needs to remember that too (my sat-nav tells me the locations so if i happen to doing 71mph, its "safe" to do so). Also, once we turn off of the M1, you'll know, it looks like you're turning into a services, just cool it WAY down. There will be a police speed gun in almost every single lay-by in the last few miles to Japfest, there has been every single year Sorry if i sound like your mum i just dont want anyone's day to be ruined by points and a fine! -
Haha no mate, not at all! I just thought your forum post and PM were the same thing so didn't read it, my mistake for assuming! im always open to suggestions. Theirs usually a practical reason for doing things, such as the bullet connector sizes in this case, but i always listen! sure mate, will see you there. If you wanna come track me down during the setup phase in the morning, I’m OO04 MYZ. Silver with Nismo stripes, black sidesteps, front lip etc.

Sorry! I saw you had posted in here asking for help the other week so admit I didn’t read the pm. Im more than happy to bring you another switch, think I have a spare unit laying around. Il bring one to Japfest for you. as for the wires. I have actually gone thinner with this module batch, I used to use 20awg, this is 18. The issue isn’t as such the wire, but the fact that red crimps are the smallest one you can easily get, they only do red, blue and yellow (which are both larger) anyway, come find me at Japfest, or il find you, and I can give you the switch

Good little turnout, thanks guys. just as a reminder with 1 week to go (!) Remember we will be leaving at 6:40 to allow for time to get Into the circuit before the cutoff period for club cars. looking forward to seeing you all next weekend! -
Hey all, bought some of these "Universal" arch extensions a couple of weeks ago, simply hoping to cover up the rust on the rear arches. Turns out it was too far gone for these so i went a different way and so they're surplus to requirements. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-4pcs-JDM-Fender-Wheel-Arches-Flare-extension-flares-wide-Polyurethane/264127785146?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 They fit the 350 reasonably well, but will need trimming and some love from a heat gun to fit properly. Theyre brand new, not drilled or anything. and are free to a good home. Im based in Harlow, Essex but im happy to give them to someone coming to Japfest too. If you want them, post in here please so everyone else knows if they stand a chance of getting them. Ive not added a photo with my name infront of them, photos are on eBay and im not asking for any money either.

Correct 350z is old school. Multiplexed signal wires, but runs on the basis the voltage levels mean different things. 370z is full CanBus so the network is more like a computer, all digital messages that tell other modules what to do.

JAPFEST SILVERSTONE SUNDAY 5TH MAY 2019
cs2000 replied to andy james's topic in National Events & Shows
Amazing spot this year! We had a pretty good one last year to be fair too. guess that’s what we get for turning out a solid display of cars every year! -
Thanks, just @iammatute left. Still got one module remaining from this run too.

Same. Can’t find this years club map though. Fingers crossed we have a tarmac stand again. -
Thanks for the two payments, waiting on @iammatute and @Umster currently, but either way, those two at the very least are going out tomorrow.

Ahh ok, yeah that gear knob can be a pain in the ass to remove, If I remember, keyser's broke, but he just machined a new one (the benefits of having a fully stocked workshop I guess!) Yeah, seems like they re-worded it, as I say, traditionally, they were two separate (but interlinked) systems.
-
Thanks for the update. You have wired it in correctly, so no worries there. If you get the grounds swapped, it will kinda work, but weird things happen, but that isn't the case here. It could be that they simply updated how this works in the 2017 version I guess, meaning you would only see one light. I guess unplugging the Yaw sensor totally would confirm this (if you get the same result, its just how it works now). Cant remember what year Keyser's one was, but other members have also installed in a 370. Traditionally, TCS and VDC were two different systems. TCS would cut power to the wheels, VDC would selectively apply the brakes to arrest a spin and is a last resort to keep you going straight. Another way to try, go find somewhere and try to do a doughnut! if you can, its all working anyway (and is much more fun to test!
-
One easy way to test would be totally unplug the yaw sensor, start the car and see if you have two, or one light. not sure if it’s important, but I’d suggest disconnecting either power or ground from my module so it doesn’t power up when you do this test. also worth checking that you have the ground leads wired right, it is important which one goes to the yaw sensor plug side of the wire that you snip in half, and which one goes back towards the wiring harness.

Correct, OEM spoiler.

@Keyser Are you able to lend any sage advice mate?

As soon as those buttons come into stock. They tend to be one of the slowest things to arrive sadly. ordered them on the 5th, so id expect them here late this week, but with Easter, may be early next I guess. I have 5 complete built modules, so the hard work is done! just missing the 5 buttons!
-
Thanks mate got all the parts in yesterday apart from the damn buttons! As soon as they come through, the next batch will be ready to go. anyone from this batch installed theirs yet? I have ordered bits to have another 1-2 modules in stock for any future orders too. Ready to go 1. Robphobos (350z) - PAID 2. Stormwhite (370z) - PAID 3. Harrison140 (350z) - PAID 4. BazzardBMX (350z) - PAID 5. Flashback (350z) - PAID Waiting for Parts 6. PabloVC (350z) 7. KevT (370) 8. Iammatute 9. 10.

Glad you like it mate! Thanks for the comments As you may have picked up from the revision number of the PCB at the top right, ive been through a few iterations. The first 2 were a complete fail right from the start, after that its just been gradual improvements. Everything apart from the damn buttons arrived today for the remaining 5 modules. Il build those tonight and then just wait for the buttons i guess! hoping they will be in this week. Now, whos gonna be the first from this batch to get it installed If anybody wants to save on £4.95, im happy to take these to Japfest for collection by the way. Il take any spares with me in the car, so let me know if anybody wants one on the day. Im easy enough to spot, silver car, Nismo side striped with black Tarmac sidesteps and front lip .

Seeing as this post is from 2016, im sure theyve been sold or binned!
-
Glad to see them arriving guys!

Just set a day aside for it, knowing its a job you've spent good money on parts for, and you'll be saving a ton of cash by not going to a garage You'll get it done in a day with plenty of breaks and looking for spanners you just put down right there, you swear!
