Not really dude, no. Last week was a pretty cool day, not once did I have to come in due to oil temps, tyres went off after about 7/8 laps, so it was that that was stopping me really.
That said, I always tend to come in after about 10/15 minutes just to rest up. Larger tracks, like Spa or Bedford I tend to do 3/4 laps and come in for a bit.
It's all about managing the oil temperature on the 370, keeping the revs low and not just shifting down for the sake of it. Notice how I don't get into 2nd at all at Brands, that keeps the temps down considerably. I used to take Druids and Hill in 2nd but keeping it in 3rd is not only quicker but it keeps the car more stable and cooler for longer.
I could just fit an oil cooler but I'm not racing, or really looking to build a track car so I don't see the point. I can still press on, have fun and get what I want from it without. Besides, it would probably only mean I could stay out a little longer as the tyres would go off or my brakes would cook.
Well, now that I have good intakes and exhaust I think I will.
Throttle response picked up no end with the Stillens and an UpRev would do wonders across lots of areas, so yeah, I will eventually. I'm getting married next year though and have to pay for cakes, flowers and @*!# like that, so where I can still manage the odd track day here and there - mods will have to take a step back for a while.
Appreciate the help here. I want to try and keep the car under 130 degrees whilst at Japfest this year. I will keep a note of the 2nd gear thing
Congrats on the marriage!
