  1. Thanks Guys! I must admit when I drove her home last Saturday crabbing all over the place after the hunter check I was beginning to wonder if I'd made a huge mistake re building and perhaps I should have bought a donor car. Should have a bit more faith in the old girl,as she obviously doesn't want to go to the scrappy yet!lol
  2. Hi guys. Since my last report I was kinda thinking the home strait was on the horizon. Wrong!! Booked her into X church tyres for a Hunter alignment to make sure the suspension was set up correctly after the various new parts I had fitted, but more importantly to check if there was any other damage I hadn't spotted. Well she drove like a crab all the way there, the sensation was unreal! The report was not good, all the nearside geo was way out and the front nearside wheel was 25mm further back than it should be.eeeek! Once up on the ramp we could clearly see that the front subframe had been bent on impact buy the lower control arm/ banana arm. The rear end even after my efforts in changing the control arm, camber arm, drive shaft, hub bearing and carrier still would not bring the camber into line. Shopping list in hand I limped the old girl home and got on the inter web! At this low point in my life I thought a minor upgrade was in order so Chris at Tarmacsportz supplied in super quick time a set of drift works front camber arms! Next up was a second hand subframe, new banana arm and lower control arm. The rear was a bit of a nightmare as it could have been chassis damage or the rear sub frame so I just bought a £30 second hand top wishbone to see if by some miracle that might be the problem. I fitted the rear wishbone during the week and came to the conclusion that jacking up/supporting the engine/gearbox,dropping the subframe out and replacing was too much for me to do at home on axle stands 12" off the ground in my garage was too dangerous to tackle on my own so I had to concede and get the guys with a ramp to fit the bits for me. Dropped the car off Friday and waited for the call this morning. The Silver lady is now straight!! No chassis damage, camber and castor angles purfect and my hunch about the rear top wish bone was right! Drove her home this afternoon. She might look like a banger but she handles like a race car! A new 3/4 and a lick of paint next!
  3. Any condition as long as it's not buckled like mine! Lol
  4. You don't get closer or better value for money than the Ringhaus. Go for a few laps, swoop back into the car park, have breakfast and go out again!! I will be going back there soon.
  5. So sorry to see this. I know the pain. Good luck with your new chariot mate.
  6. Happy Birthday young man! Have a good weekend mate
  7. Thanks guys! Been at work this morning and have fitted a new drive shaft to the Z this afternoon! Off for a few beers now. Hunter alignment on Saturday eeeek! Fingers crossed. Looking forward to seeing you guys this season.
  8. If I was you I'd see if Its not too late to buy your car back mate! Loads more mods you could do and way under your budget!! Fastest and nicest chariot I've ever seen for 15k! Lol Good luck with your search.
  9. Looks like we may have 4 already! Lol
  10. Japfest has moved to Siverstone so this fills the void at Castle Combe/jap scene for the south west. Only good can come from this as its another show for us all to attend and it has the backing of Banzia. I know It's only 3 weeks after Japfest but If there is enough interest I would be interested in going.
  11. Got mine today thanks! Nice pics and quality of the calender much improved.
  12. Like your thinking Olly. Could reinvent the rear canard/ diffuser/upper ground effects thing. Not sure if could match all those strategically positioned dents again! Lol
  13. Thanks for all the kind comments guys. Hoping to get her into the body shop by the end of Feb so looking at getting the car home, interior boot trim refitted and them some shakedown miles done by Easter. In answer to Jetpilots question re roll cage I already struggle with headroom and I know it's a risk not having one but I still want to keep the car as an all rounder so I can still tour round Europe without my head banging on a 2" tube when I go over a speed hump! Lol As the rear quarter is the only panel I can't mend myself i had the torturous task of taking a 2kg lump hammer and some g cramps to bend it out so that I could fit the rear wheel!!!! Drove her out into the light today for the first time.
  14. Thanks Graham. After nearly 4 months it will seem weird/ exciting to get her back on the road with the new mods. It's cost a few bob and the progress has at times been bloody depressing but one thing I do know is I've missed driving the old girl. There is no cure for Zeditis....
  15. I had a bit of a set back last weekend as I discovered that the rear wheel bearing got crushed in the accident so I had to strip down the the drive shaft/carrier/hub unit! Many thanks to Ewan at Clark Motorsport for shipping super fast a new bearing on Thursday so I could re assemble today. During the week I had a sneaky few hours due to the rain(builders don't work in the rain) to fit the Z speed under tray courtesy of Tarmacsportz which IMO looks amazing, but what a shame it's hidden under the car and will be covered in crud within minutes of driving the car! Lol. Spent all afternoon in the garage today and fitted the new bearing and with the help of the ever patient Katrina we bolted the bonnet back on. Bearing in mind the car has Been on Axle stands since September it was quite a shock seeing how low the car sits when I put the wheels back on an lowered her down! Took this pic in the garage tonite but will take another in the daylight tomorrow. Finnish post in sight!
  16. So sorry to see this. Hope you get her back on the road soon
  17. A bargain IMO! One of the best wheels ever to grace a 350z
  18. What is it with you guys that when you modify your car to perfection you immediately decide to scratch another itch! Lol Sorry to see you go chap and I have to say that the two best sleeper cars on this forum happen to be midnight blue, (Olly the other one. Good luck with the sale and if anyone is thinking of charging their Z? Don't bother just buy this car!
  19. The question of track day insurance is comparable to the lotto/ Russian roulette! I have done probably a 100 + track days, motorsport events over the past 25 years without insurance/incident which if you factor in around £100'per event is a great saving of well in excess of £10,000 if you are lucky. This happened to me last year and I have £10,000 bill to put my car right! I broke even by pure luck, but it could have been her maiden voyage! Will be insuring my car at all events this year.
  20. Not very happy about this sale as I like Grundy and his well developed car and also his enthusiasm towards the 350z community. Please don't buy his car because we will all miss him too much.......
  21. Managed to get an afternoon in the garage today for the first time for a few weeks. Properly bolted on the front wings which will need a final fettling by the body shop. Also drilled the holes ad trial fitted the 370 side repeaters. Also bolted the extension plate, clear reflectors, mesh grill in the front trout mouth onto the V3 bumper before fitting to the front end. Starting to look like a car again!
  22. Merry Christmas to you Zedders!
