Another idea is to remove the roof and side pillars, and have an almost roll cage like support for the car, but obviously concealled. Or just fabricated to look more than some big silver poles.
-
SOmething like that could work tbh. Maybe not a full targa style, but having support bar through the middle of the roof and removing either side. So basically, targa but having 8inches or so of the roof remaining in the centre?
-
Searching through forums, seems most companies believe the rear windshield wouldnt hold structure properly so there would need to be a way of reinforcing that
-
DId you find that via a link? Would like to see the process, could potentially look at getting a bodyshop to do this at a lower cost for advertisement on car.
-
If your planning of changing seats, bose unit and wont use cruise, could be ideal. But id always buy gt if I were to rebuy a zed
-
If I were to do it, I wouldnt want fancy electronic gizmos and it looking like a convertable. Just simply a roof, I can unclip and remove. The guys who get these electric conversions for a hardtop have deep pockets. Not something I have, but if a removable roof was potentially possible with little foreseeable problems, we may have our first hardtop convertable-ish zed
-
Still looks good, but the supra look is big bonus as it looks oem until removal
-
Im willing to give it a go. But no1 has replied to any questions about how it would be done

Recently been in the same situation. Ive found sleep is purely the key. Ive had problem after problem in 2013. The past week ive read a book for an hour instead of watching tv before bed, amd put on classic fm while I sleep. This sounds silly, however, when I was younger I had concentration issues. I always used to draw instead of paying attention. Went to get some help with it and It turns out classical music increases concentration as it relaxes the brain, thus, reducing the stressful enviroment in your mind. just an idea, try it and if it doesnt work after 2 or 3 days, no loss
-
I wouldnt mind doing this to my car. Only issue is costs, durability, potential issues and can the roof fit in the boot

Best thing to do mate, is get an a4 notebook and write it all down. I think the cheapest you will get it is probably 1,5-2k for ur age. Where you live is also a big factor. Difference for living in scotland compared to london is massive. If you are lucky enough to have 2 seperate living locations, check which is cheaper. You dont need to live majority in one, but you do need to be able to justify. I.e 3montb 1 location and 3 month the other location. Again phone the company to check its okay and record the phonecall for your own insurance

Thats the photo I seen Ian. Something like that. Obviius disadvantage is the same as convertable with the sturdyness of the chassis. What are other disadvantages, and process of doing it?
-
+1, im sure its more expensive (only 50pound or so) but each month I tried it was more expensive towards the last few days
-
Nice mod fit yourself?
-
Hopefully something simple, you done anything to the car recently? Most of my faults or because ive done something and a wire gets caught
-
Im sure ive seen one on an american 350z, but never on a uk version. A hardtop convertable. What would be involved? I.e. not an electric one, but simply being able to remove your roof, like that supra? From fast and the furious (the scene "whats the retail on one of those, ferrari) As eevn I could guess, it wont just be a case of big saw and cut through the car. Could anyone give some info on how it could be done. Purely out of curiosity

The Silver roadster - she's mine!!!
ddcboyle replied to Bagz's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
Its sunny days that make me want to buy a roadster.. maybe ill just cut off my roof instead. Welcome to the forum -
Looking into something like a one place stop over. Where you can get everything done to a car in one place by the people that work there. For example. Engine out, interior refurbished, vinal wrap, add Brooklands Kent and you have race tune guys and Vortex Systems for all your fabrications. Its very doable. The fact that we have a team in place that all get on and can work with each other and independantly is a good starting place. Anyway its only in the planning stages at the moment:) Absolute awesome idea!! We worked it out that the people with the knowledge to do this all live roughly within a hundred mile radius. So instead of working against each other work together:) Buster is going to felt roof my car in a few weeks as he did such a good job on his own car including the sun visors:) +1 that black roof looks better than the random baige mesh they stuck in it

We only encouraged her as she apparently she makes exceedingly good cakes and if she gets a 350 then she (with 350) will be down with said cakes more often Your encouragement doesnt help shes already started talking about what she will do to it, ill be the one baking cakes while shes playing around in the zed Well you are in the Catering Corps are you not!! All the pongos are out to get me -
A few tips for you.. bear in mind theres some things you can fiddle with and others that will make insurance void. 1- look at putting ur mum +/or dad as named drivers. This brought mine down by 1k. But check for both, mum only, dad only and see which result is best. I say parents as their generally older, have their own car and have high ncb. 2) look at different parking locations. For me it was more expensive, to park on the driveway and cheaper to park on "a lit street". This is generally because a drive tells you which house you will find the keys in. And stealing from house for car keys does happen. Luckily I can choose drive or street as we have both, again just make sure you can justify your answer. 3) make sure your job is correct. Theres 2 titles for my job, airman and soldier. Soldier has higher insurance cost due to our "fear no death" supposedly attitude. But my actual rank in the raf ia "airman" which is cheaper. I phoned the insurance to check this was okay, and saved me 500pound. 4) up your excess. The eifference between 250pound and 750pound excess on main insurance quote is massive. The reason, if its 750pound your less likely to claim. 5) talk to them about 10 months insurance for 1 years ncb. This is cheaper and you get 1 year ncb at 10month point. All in all, details you could change and justify, change and see how the price differs. Little things you think wont matter, are the things that change insurance cost. I got mine from 2,700 to 650pound.

The clutch probably does, but sm fly makes it faster take off, just harder to make a smooth take off. I keep shooting off at the lights by mistake -

Clutch and fly now fitted at zed shed. Next on the list is to order some more green vinyl from rich (rtbiscuit) and get the missus to help wrap rear bumper again, and then the front bumper (unless im able to swap with keyser). Vinyl order should be going in on payday, and wrapped 2nd weekend of june Going to get the missus to bring her camera round, and video record us wrapping. This will be her first panel, but you will be able to see how I operate. I do wrap alot differently to most garages since im the only 1 that can wrap properly from those who help me but they are required, 2 man job More to come
