  1. Thanks for that, ill stick to vreds if their best for my current driving. On a plus note, cheapest place ive found for tyres is "Ruislip tyres", ideal for me since I live 5minutes away. Their 10pound cheaper than camskill and that includes delivery and fitting. I paid 130 for vred front tyre and included all the usual tyre change stuff EDit: turns out camskill recently put %off tyres... so ignore this post at the moment
  2. I know little about this sort of stuff but id have to agree with you. Cheap isnt always good. Had cheapo air filter on car when I got it. If I slowed down too fast it would stall my car and lost power steering etc. Im sure same applies for most. Maybe eisbach spacers are good, and hubcentric aafer option or.. better option. Not sure id rely on non branded on my wheels
  3. Just not sure if I need to spend that sort of price on a tyre I don't utilise. The same as I could buy a 300pound tyre and be happy with it, but would simply be wasting money
  4. IVe read these before, its what made me choose vred tyres. But it says vreds are mid range, potenza 040 are premium. Even though 040 have terrible reviews and majority of people are driving a ford mondeo, not quite the same. Although the link is good for getting general idea of wear and usability in rain
  5. Thanks. Im presuming theres no danger for those buying the add on spacers, its just simply a better more accurate feel if its hubcentric? looking at hubcentric 25mm rear spacers now. Already got frint from 4reLeather
  6. I understand theres mixed opiniond on tyres and I know that the cheap random brand tyres are a waste of money. But does anyone have a link or know which tyres are best for certain driving. My zed came with bridgestone potenza 040, crappy tyres I think. Replaced all with verdersrein ultrac sessentas. Good tyre I.m.o. Pilot sport 2 and 3 are supposedly the best but my friends have now switched to verdersteins as they believe they offer better grip. So, my driving is always off track, I dont race round corners on the road. The only time I really use the 3.5 is in straight lines. No use buying top of the top range tyres for this. So what are.. Good tyres for your daily driver.. good tyres for daily driver but looking to enjoy certain roads Purely pointless buying 200pound tyres if you drive like you have a 1.0 ford ka. But again, 50pound tyres arent going to grip if your in the rain on the motorway bends.
  7. I have a set of 20mm hubcentric (that what their called?) Spacers for front wheels. Looking at getting 25 for the rear. Are hubcentric better than add on spacers? And can I have normals on rear and hubcentric on front?
  8. Do check what comes with gt that you would like to keep. My gt came without rays (I hate rays anyway) but I could have sold them if I knew. But their expensive to buy if you like them. Brembos, another big one people like. Cost a fair bit to install them.
  9. I bought a 1.8 tdci focus when I was 18. 2,6k for insurance. Worst decision ever. Didnt want to get a cheapy run around with low insurance because my "pride" would be affected. Sold var after 2 years for 4k. Bought for 7,5. I lost 3,5k and wasted loads on insurance. I was a young driver so had the occasional knocks and wheel scuffs. I wish I bought a cheaper car to buy and insure, and ccoul have kept the extra money in aavings to pay for moda on my zed. Just a thought. At 18, u will have some knocks and sscufs on ur zed if u havent been driving long.
  10. If anything it should be like the step-dad situation. It isnt ur father and you can call him bob all the time. But if you truely feel like hes a good role model, you choose to call him dad. But not because a dictionary said so, but out your own choice. So id say your aunties husband would be bob, but if you felr a connection you call him uncle. Just wierd the ddictionary tells you hes your uncle, and thats generally it haha. (Im not saying dictionary is the law)
  11. I Do understand things like that though. For me, bloodline uncle is your uncle no matter what. Close family friend is known as uncle because they treat your children like their own and act like a role model. Ur aunties husband being an uncle... u didnt choose that, not is it blood related. Just random.
  12. do you think I can run the car just with the gloss splitter for a month until I get them or will it look stupid? it will be a chargespeed rear. I have a green car with silver rear bumper. Dont worry about ur car looking silly during the mod period. But no, with black skirt I think itll still look good. It will just look a better finish with the rest done, go for it I say
  13. I think side diffusers will make the car look very smart. Im also considering these. Although then you have to do somethinf with the rear. Possibly nismo spats and diffuser? Edit: personal opinion, black splitter and black side skirts would make it more aero sporty look. But u need to do rear if your going to do sides. And if front lip is gloss black, need to do sides... I prefer black lip to colour matched silver
  14. I can understand a close family friend being called uncle. I.e. id want my kids to call my best friend uncle, but thats because they would act like an uncle. Im not sure on calling them auntie or hncle simply because they are married to your family. They could be the worst uncle in the world lol. What everyone says makes sense, ill need to speak with my parents and see if our family does it ( or if they would have done if my auntie/uncles were still married)
  15. Does it actually make a difference in weight reduction by replacing seats. Id understand if seats, carpets and other cosmetics were removed. Butvseats alone wont make an impact (I presume)
  16. In all honesty. Dont buy a 350 unless your insurance is below 2grand. GEt another years no claims before jumping in the water.
  17. This isnt going well for me. I was so confused when she said a husband becomes uncle in the family. Seems normally and stated kn the dictionary. But to me it doesnt make sense, anyone up north take my view? Trying to work out if its scottish, my family, or just me. My mum and dad are the only couple still married jn my family so theres no refernce I could use as aunties and uncles are all single now.. lol.
  18. Not sure if its been mentioned. But if the doors open, theres a little rubber buttom on door frame, when its out the window comes down, when its in the window goes up. Obviously all recognised when u open the door the window moves so u can close it easier. I only found out the button was there when a mate started to play with it and I thought my wjndow motor had gone
  19. Been having an argument with the missus over who to call uncle and auntie. Im from scotland shes from reading, not sure if this is where the different view lies. My opinion : an uncle or auntie is only in the bloodline. I.e. your mothers sister, dads brother. MIssus opinion: if a woman marries her uncle, she wiuld become her auntie as she has married into the family. My Argument against that view is auntie/uncle is bloodline family which cant change. If your uncle keeps divorcing and remarrying, you have consistantly changing family. Your opinions please EDit: on a note, missus calls them by their title, I.e. uncle jim and his wife auntie jane. Where as my family would be auntie jacqueline and her husband graham. (Although j dont actually call them auntie when I see them)
  20. Get a quote and find out? The parts are the cheap bit though, it's the actual engineering to make sure it doesn't creak and leak that's the problem. Also your car is going to flex like a mofo. I dont track my car so hopefully wont be too bad. Might pop round a few garages after payday and enquire. "Okay mate how much to cut myvroof off then stick it back on...."
  21. Thats part of the charm isnt it? Nothing like arriving at work with a wet crotch and trying to explain you didn't wet yourself, it was the cars fault. I was lucky, only my passenger side leaked. Not the most popular car with the missus Atleast you could brag that the missus gets wet jn your car?
  22. Haha I just want to look cool when I drive. Not a sunny day with me covered in sweat in my coupe, aircon on and constantly hitting heated seat button when I try rest my arm. I would take the plunge into doing it; but would need a good garage behind me who are able to sort potential problems. What prices you reckon itll cost? 1k?
  23. Just checked ad, defjnetly be able to bring price down on that. I bought 54 Gt spec, silver coupe, 42k miles. Ad was 8,5 I got for 8k. I got an average deal, otgers have been alot more lucky and others didn't realise you could look at other cars and paid o.t.t. Have a good look around the car aswell for the interior. Burn marks behind the seats for example, when u throw a cigarette out the window in the zed it flies back into the car. On the driver side window pillar, if fabruc is slightly darker its because its smokers car and had dyed the colour.
  24. Clutch on a zed is generally expected to last 60k miles. But again some people changed at 40, and jm sure I read on this gorum some1 is near 100k withoit changing clutch. Changed clutch last week at 61k miles. In total 850 for clutvh, fly and labour
  25. Presuming the chassis is the same for coupe and covertable, that you could remove the roof and rear window and the chassis would hold. But if we kept the boot/rear window as it is, it may not have structural integrity to hold itself in position. I have no idea on how structures hold, just a guess
