  1. That usually results in a retort of "I'll get my price list". Which is often met with a puzzled look of utter confusion.
  2. Welcome to the fold. Good luck with the weather, I haven't discovered any useful tips for changing that yet
  3. Excellent, that save me some thinking then. PM me your address and I'll send you a Waxybox style 100ml sample of the Car Chem foam to try out.
  4. This might seem like a bit of a random question given the conversation, but bear with me briefly; how much (in ml) foam do you usually use in the bottle, roughly? I'm just trying to think something through here, which probably won't end well.
  5. Sadly you've missed the Car chem group buy on the foam now. They are now running one on Revolt - their fallout remover - but I doubt that's any good for foaming... although...
  6. Thanks bud. So many good snow foam brands I want to try now. I can now confirm that the Car Chem foam meets my very demanding standards. It cleans just as well as both Avalanche and Auto Foam. It also foams more than Avalanche, if that's important to you, but nowhere near as much as Magifoam - but I'm a firm believer in the theory that a foam needs to be liquid enough to slowly run off the panel in order to pull the dirt off, and that shaving foam-like consistency that just clings to the panel is inefficient... as demonstrated nicely by Magifoam which looks all pretty and stuff but is flippin' useless in cleaning terms. Just my opinion, of course. Doesn't smell as nice as Auto Foam though... what? That's important too!
  7. The Neverwet stuff has been about for a while, but it dries quite white so it's no good for cars... unless they're white cars. Durability-wise it's quite brittle once fully cured so tends to flake off easily if there's any movement. Nissan use "Ultra Ever Dry"... which is very much the same as Neverwet - which probably explains why they masked off anything that isn't white on the Micra. As WhackyWill would say;
  8. This ^ I normally spend 8+ hours washing/detailing my car. Yesterday I had ran out of my usual products so just gave it a quick wash and dry with some cheap turtlewax shapmoo + wax in one. It took 15 minutes and looked 95% as good as what it does when I spend the whole day on it. Dont get me wrong i love spending a day detailing the car but it get get me thinking.... 8hrs! Flirk me. Indeed. Slacker!
  9. As will any straight cut gear.
  10. Only the ones with the optional S-Tune badge.
  11. Don't know what the car is, but he's got a crap camera.
  12. There's an argument (largely from the leather experts on DW) that adding a conditioner to coated leather actually traps dirt on the surface so it's not recommended to use conditioners on modern leather as there's no benefit (other than the SMD basement flashbacks... if that's your thing ).
  13. Modern leather has a clear protective coat on top, so the colour of the leather won't make any difference. Gliptone as mentioned above, RaceGlaze leather cleaner or Auto Finesse Hide with a suitable brush and microfibre cloth to wipe away should be enough to do the job.
  14. You just need the Nilfisk/Alto option from here and some PTFE tape/Threadlock. Simply unscrew the old one and screw on the new one. Here's a very handy link for servicing your lance (clicky) - even though it says it's the AB lance, all the lances are essentially (or exactly) the same.
  15. Not cleaned mine, but I did spend the last couple of days detailing my dad's brand new car (I had to get the Z in the picture to add a bit of class ); Followed by the not so new this thing; Which I can assure you is much, much, much biggerer than it looks! I had intended to give mine a quick wash, but I'm f@#%ing exhausted after that so I'm spending today having a good sit and a few cold beers instead.
  16. Yep. On a dry panel, spray on (sparingly) and then buff off. Alternatively you can spray onto a cloth, wipe onto the dry panel and then buff with a dry cloth if you prefer.
  17. Always happy to help other people spend money. Yeah, AF are a "premium brand" which in the detailing world just means "expensive". It's worth considering if you can find a good offer on, although for some reason I've not bought any Avalanche since using the BH foam... I can't imagine why.
  18. I've lost count of the number of times I've told people this GM, for when your Demon foam runs out - Bilt Hamber AutoFoam and Auto Finesse Avalanche are the best cleaning foams I've used (and I've tried a lot!) although I've not tried Dodo's offering yet - I've just got 10litres of Car Chem foam on offer (which is being put through it's paces this weekend - initial results are positive though) so it might be a while before I need to buy more.
  19. Cerium Oxide with rayon pads will be best, however the stone chips in the windscreen (mine has the same, it drives me nuts!) may be too deep to effectively polish out.
  20. You called? Red Mist doesn't work as a drying aid, it's more a fast curing spray sealant and doesn't mix with water. But when using a water based QD then yes it would just be a case of misting over the wet panel and then towel dry.
  21. It's as simple as; On private property, you can put the number plate wherever you see fit. On public property, it should be displayed correctly (it doesn't matter if you're driving the car or not). That is not to say that by not displaying it you're guaranteed to get a ticket, but you're certainly allowing the opportunity to.
