Easy.
Would 225/45/R17 tyres go on a set of stock 17s without setting off the CC warning / limp mode?
I don't even know if the stock (uk spec) wheels are staggered or not.. heh.
Sorry for the blatent ignorance..

On WLMG Eastcote; almost bought a car from them and it had a few niggles which i detailed and asked if they would sort out, and the technician i spoke to hadn't got a clue what he was talking about when it came to Zed stuff so i walked away. I then took my car to them (stupidly) to sort out the common window fault and after taking it apart twice and replacing a load of irrelevant stuff for me, they told me i needed a whole new mechanism and that would be £600 on top of the couple of hundred I already owed them. i looked up the problem on here, got the part off alex for half the price and fixed it myself in an hour. they also failed to spot on their free 'health check' that my NSF brake disc is warped and worn (which i already knew), and it's really obvious (even to me) without even getting the car in the air. So needless to say i'm not going anywhere near them again, and i can't recommend you do either.

Way to sh*t on my parade!!! Good thing they aren't troubleshooting then; just a normal service. Here's hoping they don't **** anything up.

Why did you randomly decide to check you had the filter in?
Not something you do on a regular basis... well caught!
Hard to explain properly... but the box was slightly ajar? The right clip wasn't attached, which seemed strange.
Popped the left one and could then see clear to the bottom of the airbox!
It was the FIO that pointed at it first.
-
I'd be worried about how long it may not have had a filter in it, before you got your car!!
Hope your next experience is a good one.
Agreed. I am. Only time will tell.
-
I would be asking back for half the cost of the service back as a sign of good gesture at least
It'd be great to post up a positive experience so I'll definitely give them the chance to do this
-
Well,
After having realised my airbox has no air filter in it!!! Whilst investigating possible upgrade paths; I've decided that I just can't risk trusting the work done by a very famous dealer based in Four Marks Hampshire.
As such the zed is in for a service tomorrow at WLMG Eastcote. 229 for an annual service. Including not replacing an air filter but fitting one.
Anything I should be aware of?
Oh god coming from the 3 series and with the zed, getting into a bloody micra or even worse possibly a pixo is NOT filling me with joy...
And on a side note. I mean FFS, what kind of monkey will hapilly shift a car without a fecking air filter. I drove home 90 miles of motorway and did the commute to work before by absolute chance, deciding to check it out.
Joe Public could well have put 9k on their car like this (Or much likely less when the engine is done inhaling bugs and grit and just grinds to a hault.)
F*cking weak.

Black cars when clean always look superb..
This is the first non black car I've had..
I'll shoot the car somewhere other than just my carpark once I've got a couple things done

Hi there. I'm quite new. I'm going to go ahead and assume here..
...
Because if this is a legit post. What are you doing on this forum?
I think you need to meet Stew before assuming anything about his driving. I fully recommend the Jockland Hoon next time around - that should give you a good indication of how he likes to drive
Tongue in cheek post from me really

Raising the speed limit is not the answer. 99% of the country needs to be educated on how to use a motorway/dual carriageway. Driving on motorways is terrible, people are not taught and they never learn and it totally winds me up.
Personally think the standard test should NOT cover motorway driving and that pass plus should be compulsory in order to drive on the motorway network.
A little education before these people become such jumped up, angry, middle lane cruising dangerous idiots - would be one hell of a thing.
I think that in addition to a limit raise would work well. Though, what to do about all the current road users? Force everyone to take a written test at the very least perhaps?

hmm, spinning the wheels in 3rd in the dry is a big worry! I'd p'haps check the pressures as well... only time I've spun wheels in third is when the turbos kicked in in my old 300zx, but that was in damp conditions and on Ling Long Happytime tyres!
Loving the plate by the way!
yep nice freebie came with the car! I've got my own personal plate but probably wont bother as I won't be keeping this tooooooo long and the transfer fees blow
-
Take it you have a fancy camera! looking good!
Just a Canon 400D with a Sigma IS 18-200 lens and a polarising filter
-
Nice pics
What tyres do you have on? You shouldn't be spinning up in third in the dry.....
Evidently rubbish ones. I'll be getting that sorted as soon as I can!
The question being: Toyo T1Sport, Falken FK-452 or "AN Other". Suggestions?
-
Yeah I have to agree the sound system won't be quite as good, the Germans do their sound systems better. My 03 A3 has a better sound system than my 07 plate 350 had. Never had a vent jobber, is that the note pad on the vent? Maybe I should get one so I can note down my money making ideas on the commute
Not at all. I'd ploughed about 5k into the sounds in the bimmer.
The bose system in the zed compared to the stock BMW business system is 50 times, 70 times better. The standard BM system is awful.
You can pay 2k for a good sound system in the bimmers, or pay 2k for the GT pack on the zed and get all the other goodies too! So the zed EASILLY wins on that front
-
It's nice mate should be in 'other cars' though. Liking the change to a Zed after it?
Whoops sure someone will sort it for me (sorry mods).
The zed is better in every way bar 3: Soundsystem (but got that great soundtrack from behind now!! ), storage (especially my cup holder which I neeeeed to get my morning commute coffee fix! Ebay vent jobber ordered but will take a week to turn up ), and the clutch. Which I can't get used to how high it is. Going to follow that clutch mod guide to lower the pedal down a couple of inches. Then she'll be perfect
-
do yourself a favor, follow the factory service manual for this and don't deviate from their specified range. If you make it too low, it will never fully release, and instead, drag, prematurely wearing the disk, pressure plate friction surface and flywheel friction surface in the process
Sure. I was thinking at most 4 rotations, and then work back a bit if needed. I expect a "good amount" of play below the bottom of the biting point still. Just not for the pedal to be 3 flippin inches higher up than the kick plate..

Well, having just posted up a topic with pics of the E90 (deposit taken Should be gone in a couple weeks ) I thought it'd be rude not to post a few of the zed!
Said BM topic: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=54264
So anyway. Here we go.
The reason I went for a 350z was.. The agenda was 8k budget, petrol, RWD, FAST. 25th birthday prompted the decision as I could finally insure something. In fact, I put the deposit for this car down on my birthday.
I consider this car "Interrim metal" and the plan is to sell it before the summer next year. but who knows As I'm falling in love at present! slowly but surely ..
First impressions of this car are positive, it's a great feeling chassis, proper solid steering. A real drivers car unlike all the electronic assist rubbish you get even on BMWs if you buy a brand new one now.
The worst point of it is the clutch biting point: I'll be adjusting that down on Thurs or at the weekend. It's very high and is fully engaged with about 80% of the travel left. I've checked the nut and it's in it's normal position: This is just how these clutches are! So I'll just adjust the pedal so it's nearer to the foot stop. I'm glad the nut isn't all the way up as that'd be sign of a shagged clutch. Fingers crossed on that one But guys please stop telling me it's shagged and let me adjust it and see how it goes. If a 1200 quid bill is on my horizon I'd rather live on in ignorance for the time being :D
The best point of it is spinning up in third with ESP off when overtaking! Eeeeeek! This car might not be biblically fast but it is massively, massively quicker than the E90 was. And at last I've got 6 cyliders. I felt somehow.. Incomplete, untill now.
In fact. I take it back. The best point of the car is the exhaust note. Oh it's doing things to me ...
So.. Literally only a couple of pics as I had the last 10mins of light before the sun dropped. Last pic with the fleet pic was very difficult to get to come out at all due to the light but I just thought it was funny! I do really need to sell one of these cars
Let me know what you think anyway. For me: For 8 grand on a 50k mileage car with this much road presence I've done well. But anyways, she's only temporary ...
And lastly... Gulp!! More of this to come!!
Cheers,
Dave

In all honesty the 80mph will just mean people cruise at 90mph.
People who are screaming at their kids in the back of the car, while applying lippy and updating their facebook status on their iphone while driving along.........
The only way it will boost economy is because the cars will be burning more fuel so lining the government pockets with the tax on fuel!
Lower the limit to 60, save the planet and relax! It's the way forward!
