Sounds like the perfect drive for a zed if i'm honest, long distance cruising it does very well. Need to drive up to Scotland again, some cracking roads and scenery. Been over two years since I was there last!

the Supra will be faster when its working properly, which will only be some of the time. The 350z will be slower, but will work all the time. 350z will also be a lot less thirsty. If it will be your only car, the 350z. if its just a weekend car, the Supra.

i got offered a number that ended 007 666... but turned it down as i'd already had my existing number for ages, didnt want to try and tell everyone i'd changed it!

2 and a half years for me so far, hoping to keep it a long longer as well

Have a great time out there, stay safe on the hairpins, try not to cook the brakes!

oh and a Scottish hoon would definitely be something I would be interested in... even staying relatively close to Glasgow and Edinburgh the roads are epic, could either do a drive out starting and finishing in Glasgow say for 3-4 days, or maybe make base at fort William and go north, south, east and west from there for 4 days. Would only cost two tanks of petrol more than the wales trip would.

you cant get rid of wales, its an institution and the great numbers each year are testament to that. Plus its such a great location, central enough that almost the whole country can get to it easily. However, I can imagine the location would get a bit samey... why not keep wales every year, but rotate the locations? theres some great driving roads on the Shropshire borders, or further south in the Brecon beacons. Doesn't have to be the same hotel and the same roads in Snowdonia every time. As for bigger/European trips the cost will put a lot of people off, but then a euro trip wouldn't work with 60 cars anyway, so I don't see the problem. Would love to do a forum trip to Le Mans though, since that's something that could work really well with a convoy of 15-20 cars heading down and watching the race.

hmmm, seems me and Bennett share the same dreams... slightly freaky... since a Porsche GT3 and RS6 rated high on my list as well! but my top picks would be: ... for when the suns shining... ...for when its not. ...for tight twisty circuits... ... for the faster more open ones. Plus a car transporter for the pagani, and then a Mercedes S63 AMG for when someone else is doing the driving!

Ah Ferrari drivers eh! rarely do I see supercars on track going quickly round corners... they're fast on the straights yes, but most are driven by fools who have no confidence to drive quickly through corners. So far I remember the beemer catching up such cars as a Aston Martin DBS, McLaren MP4-12C, and a Mercedes SLS AMG, all because they're pootling through the corners. personally I've got no problem letting through the smaller cutesy stuff... caterhams and clio race cars, they're like flies, get very annoying very quickly! far better to let them through quickly before the try a lunge up the inside

A bit of a silly question.... what speeds for what gears?

I'm using 6th from anywher much above 45 if I'm just cruising. Of course if you need to overtake then 3rd or 4th is better! -
my view is that you'd never need to turn the ESP off on the road, as you should never be pushing hard enough to notice an improvement by turning it off. if the esp light is flashing during road driving, you're pushing too hard for public roads, or your tyres need changing. On a track its a different story, but on the road keep the ESP on - why would you want to be kicking the back out on public roads?

i've been using a cassette adapter for the best part of 2 years now - no real complaints from me, certainly worth a fiver to have some music back in the car.

Save fuel, plug something in your cigarette lighter socket...

  that is hilarious... some chancer is clearly ripping off the good name of D1 Spec, and is essentially trying to sell a 2pence LED for £13 -
+1 for GT85... plus it smells chuffing gorgeous!

mine does the same, three pennies in each spring sorted it right out, one touch and lift. however, if its cold or the boot has water on it, the struts don't always hold it up...
-
three options for this: 1. take boot trim off, remove boot weight 2. stick pennies in the boot springs, or get new ones from zmanalex 3. get new gas struts, sgs engineering

not the revup one (296) since most people say that consumes oil - either DE (276) or HR (313?)

full respray? EDIT: Beaten to it!

I definitely think a 350z is destined to be a future classic. I mean, you don't see many of them on the roads as it is, imagine how rare they will be in 20 years time. I suspect now that prices are coming down they will be used and abused by a younger audience, which will inevitably see some being wrecked, or others having high mileages put on them, and modifications will start to come in. in a few years an early, non modified low mileage car in a desirable colour will be worth a lot. Especially when the big NA engine has completely died and been replaced by small displacement turbo hybrid units. Also rust will start to eat away at most Jap cars on UK shores, so a clean rust free example will be worth a lot. Its just starting to happen with 300ZXs now, there are a lot of dogs out there at the moment for sale for dirt cheap, but most are not far away from engine failure or rust. soon there will only be cherished low mileage cars left, and then they will start to appreciate as the numbers dwindle even further.

what luddite wrote that? -
if we can't get old zedley back can we have a new zed ted? Zedley the second maybe?

definitely not the brakes? I had a noise I could have sworn was my rear wheel bearing, as it only happened when turning left, never straight ahead... turns out it was badly worn brake pads and original discs, some bits of rust and so on had got on the discs and were causing a scuffing noise. definitely worth checking.

feel so bad for Porsche, really hoping they were going to break the Audi stranglehold, although all the top cars were gifted their positions when previous front runners had mechanical issues. Really chuffed for Aston Martin and GT Am, we'll take that! shame it wasnt a one-two for GT Pro as well, but really happy with the result after last year's tragedy.

unfortunately, fuel gauge and thus dte are often crappy.... unlike however, the miles done and the average mpg, assuming you reset it when you fill up. then its quite easy to work out what your range is with an 80 litre tank. i completely ignore the dte flashing '----' at me and the fuel gauge reading way below empty and the fuel light on... if i filled up when that happened i only get 57 litres in. instead i rely on mpg and miles travelled to know when to actually fill up, and using those i can normally predict to within a couple of litres how much fuel will go in. its worked for me just fine for the last year or so of driving.
