  1. in answer to your questions, no, it wont fit on the standard centre pipe. either get just a cobra mid pipe, or a fabricator to make you up one. You can also decide whether you want a centre resonator in there or not. the most cost effective will be a custom straight pipe, but it will be louder if you don't put a centre resonator in. yes, it is worth changing the original centre pipe. even if it did fit, it'll be old and mild steel and very rusted. stainless will be lifetime warrantied. yes, there will be a big difference in sound by just swapping the back box. for starters, the standard back box is at least three times the size of the cobra box, and has a lot more chambers and muffling. the cobra box is basically a free flowing t junction with a bit of cladding.
  2. welcome! whereabouts in warwickshire are you based? if you fancy seeing exactly how the zed puts power down, theres a Rolling road day in Bromsgrove coming up on the 30th August - look for details in the west midlands subforum.
  3. The UK already has a policy to remove hellaflush vehicles from the roads - it's this:
  4. a turbocharged turbocharged 3.0 litre V6?!? I thought one turbocharger would be good, but turbocharging the turbocharger, brilliant plan! In all seriousness though, a 3.0 V6 turbo is the engine i'd go for, ironically its already been done 20 years ago in the Z32 300ZX.
  5. I reckon that's quite nice actually, don't mind a white wheel. If you like it go for it, there aren't enough white wheels on cars these days!
  6. using a button is cheating! real men heel and toe themselves
  7. Wow what an incredible shame that is. Very sad day indeed, RIP Robin.
  8. Quite a few of us doing one in a fortnight's time, as it happens... http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/88653-23rd-august-bedford-track-day/
  9. yep, not a problem heel and toeing in the 350z. although you may find its more left side of foot on brake, right side of foot blips the throttle. i find it a lot easier when braking hard - means the brake and throttle are more level for a start, but I find if you only brake lightly, you often get an extra lurch of brake when you try and blip the throttle. But definitely worth practising, its an invaluable skill for track driving a manual car when a botched downshift under braking can cause instability or even rear axle lock up.
  10. much jealously. was in Las Vegas for a week last year, and was easily by far and away THE BEST HOLIDAY EVER. not a day goes by without thinking how awesome it was. Florida's alright as well, i spose...
  11. not a particularly good rant if im honest... for starters, they're letting you drive their £60,000 car for the low low price of £200 - you could do that every weekend for the next 6 years before you'd paid the purchase price of the car. then they want you to pay an extra £20 to insure against a £1500 excess, which is 75 to 1... my insurance excess is something like £300, if i could pay an extra £4 on the premium to reduce it to zero, i probably would!

this might be a silly question, but do you frequently test cars up to 130+mph that might give you something to compare to? ie have you had fast cars in the past? personally I wouldn't know what a car is supposed to feel like at 130, as I've never driven that fast.
  13. bargain indeed, after all a couple elbows and straight pipe wont cost a lot from a fabricator.
  14. as said above, change the rears to 255/40/18. lots of members run lower profile tyres than usual, but keep the different widths.
  15. I think part of my dislike is that the 350z is a very curvy car, good waistline and quite fullsome. however the gtr is all broad and angular, the two styles clash in my opinion. the GTR front end looks fine on a stagea, at least in R34 form... the R35 version doesnt look quite as good though.
  16. well yeah lol... I'm quite happy with a car that's quite loose at the back end as I've no problem going sideways and gathering it up again, but in the interests of car longevity I think some more rear end stability is probably a good thing... besides, I can always provoke a slide with a dab of trail braking or a hefty dose of throttle... However we've all noticed the understeer, so want to dial that out with some toe out and camber if we can - although its also quite likely that we're overheating the tyres - after 5-6 laps they fall off a cliff in terms of grip, which caught ken out at rockingham, as it can affect either end of the car.
  17. its most definitely a no from me. if you want a car that looks like a GTR, buy a GTR.
  18. that's because most of your co-workers are idiots.
  19. from what I've heard about the bmw (not sure if this applies to a zed though) is that the standard set up is very conservative with regards to tyre wear and handling... too much toe in at the front to encourage understeer. when I get mine aligned this weekend will be going for zero toe at the front (straight ahead) to encourage front turn in, and a little bit more toe in at the rear (0.4 total, or 0.2 toe in per side) for greater rear stability. as for camber, I have heard as much as you can on the front, and then a maximum of 3degrees at the rear, although this is a full track setup and will eat through tyres very quickly. however if you run zero toe you can run greater camber as its the combination of toe and camber that drags the tyre, zero toe means the wheel is free to just roll. but generally, toe in encourages stability, vehicle reluctant to turn. toe out makes car eager to turn, but can be unstable and squirrelly under braking. so depending on how you drive, tune the front and rear accordingly - our car pushes under gentle application of power, but can be snappy at the rear if you chuck it around to much or trail brake into corners, hence why we're going for a bit less toe in at the front, and a bit more toe in at the rear.
  20. someones just bumped a standard exhaust they're selling, not sure where they're based though? http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/88320-oem-full-exhaust-done-only-21k-great-condition-200/
  21. exactly how stanced are you at the moment? wheel widths, tyre size, offset, and suspension drop would be good to know. and did you definitely get tyres with the exact same dimensions that was on before?
  22. pah that's no excuse, give her a passenger ride to let her know fully what shes marrying into! Phil that's great, will be plenty of us there!
  23. nice one, centre console looks great. a square metre goes a long way it seems, a cheap but very impactful mod!
  24. Mmmm the want is strong with this one... and that dat rear...
