  1. +1 on needing to depress the clutch. Also be sure you press the clutch all the way down - I find the clutch gets a little heavier in the last 10% of movement, which means I occasionally don't press it enough to be able to start the car on the first try (normally after I've been driving my fiancées car which has a very light clutch pedal)
  2. in that case he'd probably be a lot better off putting it back to stock and selling the wheels separately himself - after all, he bought them, so he'd probably know how to get good money flogging them again. But obviously selling a car that low will rather limit his market for a sale as it is! That said, as far as stanced cars go, I actually quite like it
  3. yeah but think about it... even if you didn't like the wheels or the stance, those wheels will be worth a small fortune, so swap them out, put some rays on, and readjust the toe and camber arms to suit. then you're back to a tastefully modified UK zed in the most desireable colour.
  4. hmmm, spend a weekend with someone from the forum? obvious answer would be Will and Ken, taking the track car over to Spa Francorchamps for a two day track event other than that, anyone who gets on track in shape or form, so anyone who tracks a zed, or anyone who drifts a zed. but really, I don't think theres anyone on here I wouldn't get along with for a weekend - we all love zeds and the majority of us also share a wider passion for all things automotive, so all good really!
  5. ah too bad... but winters the best time to make amends ready for next year! We've still got 3 trackdays to do this year (two already booked) to meet my ambitious target of 12 trackdays in 12 months lol, its been a busy year for our BMW(s)! looking forward to seeing videos, get them up before the weekend so we know what to expect!
  6. we've just booked snetterton for 15th November in the beemer, you should come along! its your local track isn't it (or is Brands closer?)
  7. haha had my resonated system coming up to a year now, still loving it! a little bit droney at 2-3k rpm, but above that the note really hardens to a glorious V6 howl. And I never tire of getting home from work after 20 minutes on the motorway, and just sitting there blipping the throttle in the car park, giggling like a 5 year old at the burbles, pops and bangs
  8. Me and Ken are now booked in for Snetterton on the 15th November with Javelin trackdays Still plenty of space for bookings and its only £129 for the day, bargain price for a brilliant track, probably one of the best we've driven so far. Would be awesome if a few more trackday goers could join us for some autumnal track action!
  9. weather looking dry on Saturday at the moment... hopefully will stay dry for sunday!
  10. a Passat 3.2 estate is a darn good shout - this one looks great for the money: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201410078016601/sort/default/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/quicksearch/true/page/1/radius/1500/usedcars/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l/model/passat/postcode/cv313bf/make/volkswagen?logcode=p
  11. oh I meant the V10 RS6! still rather pricy though unfortunately... one of these days im going to get a V10 lol problem with having a decent engine in a practical 3 series saloon is that you'll never get a chance to use the rwd chassis properly, as if you do you'll have wife screaming at you to slow down and children in the back throwing up... which means you'll be using the power in a straight line, in which case a diesel will be just fine with bags of mid range torque. How about a 330d if a 320d is just too humdrum for you? The fast, refined wafty tourer levels would be off the chart. or even a 530d if you need even more space.
  12. aye its got the right engine in it, but that shape BMW is just sooo bland... especially an estate in black with black leather and small wheels. if you're looking to scratch a BMW itch its got to either a slightly older M5, or a 650i. Certainly wouldn't be buying a 3 series estate with that engine - theres only one choice for an engine in a 3 series estate, which is a 2 litre diesel. obviously. someone drove past me the other day in a black Audi RS6 Saloon... the want levels went through the roof!
  13. have to say, what on earth is a 'Delinte D7'? I mean, I've heard of most brands of tyre, even the terrible ones, but have never heard of Delinte before! suggest immediate removal, especially now that cold and wet weather is coming!
  14. have you seen the tyres on it? thats the most stretch i've ever seen on a rim. talking of the wheels, bet they weigh an absolute tonne, and very much doubt the camber is good for road driving, even when raised. while i can appreciate the work thats gone into it, its not for me - faaaaaar to much negative camber when lowered, seriously compromised anyway when not!
  15. darn pit walls... always the most dangerous part of a track! will try and remember not to put a wheel on the grass when letting someone through - not so much of a problem at a wider track but at somewhere narrow like cadwell it could be an issue. But glad the 'Teg made it through the day without incident!
  16. that's an interesting place to have an accident! I would say 'that's on the straight' but we all know there are no straight bits at brands! how did he manage to do that?!?
  17. I think what he meant to say was 'Sell the 350z, take the 10grand you would have spent on the conversion and buy a Corvette http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/chevrolet/corvette/chevrolet-corvette-v8-2001/2899969
  18. black with anthracite would work well in my opinion, but i'd leave the window tints and the light tints. could do the doorhandles in the same colour as the wheels. thats exactly the beemer we've got.... 140,000 miles, £1,030, spray painted over the rust patches myself... at least ours has the proper 3.0 litre engine though!
  19. i'm personally not a fan... didn't like the beemer when it was black on black wheels with a very dark window tint... just screamed drug dealer to me. much prefer a black car to have lighter coloured wheels. and also our window tint was removable, nice to be able to see out the back again. and don't like tinted lights at all - they're designed to be seen!
  20. muchos jealous, and heres muggins stuck in work all day! looking forward to the videos!
  21. how old is the car? my original Nissan battery went after 10 years and approx. 55,000 miles - replaced with a Bosch one, all good since then.
  22. im running Ventus V12 Evos front and S1 Evo2 on the rear of my zed, haven't had any problems with them so far!
  23. aye, 225 on a 9.5" rim will have a lot of stretch - max permissible width for 225/45/18 is 8.5". have a play on willtheyfit.com - I believe the standard rays wheels are (someone more knowledgeable than me will have to confirm the offsets) Front: 225/45/R18 tyre, 8" rim, ET30 Rear: 245/45/R18 tyre, 8.5" rim, ET33
  24. man-points? he correctly identified a VW Beetle, one of the girliest cars there has ever been. hand them back!
