  1. its remarkable, by far and away the best mileage i get is through a 50mph roadworks zone, can easily push 35mpg. or stuck behind a slow person on the A49 travelling down to Hereford. one of these days in going to drive to edinburgh and back to see just how far the car will go on a tank - my guess is 520 miles or so.
  2. best oem replacement would be a milltek, but since that's out of budget i'd go for the quieter scorpion exhaust. the cobra resonated is nice, but is a bit louder and can be a bit drony in the car around 2000rpm.
  3. ebc redstuff pads are legal, there are a few competition pads that aren't legal for road use, but I think insurance are only worried if you change the diameter of the discs, or change the calipers. brake pads are the same as tyres, and you don't declare non oem standard tyres to the insurer. (although I think you should since putting budget ditchfinders on the rear of a powerful car definitely increases your likelihood of having an accident)
  4. How old was the tyre? Regularly inspected for cuts and bulges? Good tyres don't just fail for no reason!
  5. Yep im happy with my redstuffs, No squeal and seem solid. Not used them hard though so can't comment on how well they stand up to abuse.
  6. welcome! if you fancy seeing a lot more zeds, get your name down for the Shelsley Walsh Breakfast meet, a week on sunday. you've no excuse really since its on your doorstep! http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/93944-shelsley-walsh-hill-climb-breakfast-club-sunday-08th-march/
  7. does seem to be a bit of a non story... he might miss some testing time at Barcelona, but I cant see him missing the first race, its still over two weeks away. he's either injured, or hes fine. sounds like he's fine.
  8. in, out, in, out, make up your mind man!!!
  9. the line '10/8Kg/mm' relates to the spring hardness - with a 10kg/mm spring, a load of 10kg will compress the spring 1mm. so that kit will use 10kg/mm front springs, and 8kg/mm rear springs. couldn't tell you if that was the correct spring rate for a zed though!
  10. more irritating than Ferraris god given right to be in F1!?! have to say, Ferrari last year with Alonso and Raikkonen where by far and away the most miserable team in the paddock - underperforming car, and probably the two most miserable drivers lol at least now Ferrari have some enthusiasm back in the form of Vettel, and hopefully since he's good friends with Raikkonen he might manage a smile once or twice this season. McLaren certainly have a lot of work to do, they'll be under huge pressure to perform given the reputation of the drivers, and the much publicised partnership with Honda. I hope they do well, for Honda's sake - hopefully Honda know what they're doing, and will come out fighting - same as Porsche did with Le Mans last year.
  11. I want Hamilton to be involved in a close fight, just not with Rosberg... something about him is just annoying. Also I think it would be better for the sport if it was a fight between two or three teams, rather than within the same team. why no likey the McLaren? I think they might be a dark horse, after all Hamilton had the foresight to jump ship to Mercedes and then went on to win, and Alonso has done the same to McLaren - he wouldn't sign for a team he did not think would be successful. But McLaren will be expecting results this year - two world champions, but old timer stalwarts of the sport. Agreed on Vettel and Raikkonen though - Seb had a difficult year last year, hope he does well and turns round the fortunes of Ferrari at the same time. Raikkonen i'd quite like to see retire from F1, if im honest!
  12. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens this year, the two winter tests have thrown up such varied lap times I genuinely have no idea who will be fastest come race day. I know which team will be slowest though Personally i'd like Hamilton to do it again with Mercedes, but would also like to see strong results from Ferrari, Red Bull, McLaren, Williams, even Lotus - they're all capable of podiums this year.
  13. have you heard how much they might be charging for it? up to £350,000 according to autocar: http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/jensen-name-returns-new-gt-model good luck with that!
  14. 35psi is standard. although the zeds steering is heavy anyway. and good news, the 225/45 fronts are the right size, you need 245/45 on the rear. falken have discontinued the FK452, so for a similar level of grip and price i'd probably go for Hankook V12s.
  15. lol actually, i'll shut up now... all my knowledge here is purely theoretical! listen to the guys who actually track zeds, and have done the geometry I dick around with bmws on mismatched tyres
  16. just checking, do you want a pure track setup (at the expense of tyre wear) or a compromise which will allow you to drive to and from track without buying new tyres every 500 miles? also, how do you want the car to handle? do you want a very stable setup, planted back end and a bit of understeer, or a car that darts around, has excellent turn in and a slightly more playful rear?
  17. Never give in to the MPV! Plenty of fast estates out there, and nobody needs more than 3 children!
  18. whoa whoa whoa no need for that kind of language! just move on to a BMW 335i saloon, or a 530i estate, something like that, no problems. popping a sprog is no reason to stop dropping cogs!
  19. you'd likely get TCS issues running the 245/45/18 on the front with a 275/35/19 on the rear, but you can turn the TCS off for a while I guess. A Zed needs rear tyres with a slightly larger diameter (approx. 2.5% larger) than the fronts, for the TCS to be happy. did you mention you had some 255/40/18s kicking around? if you fit them to the front it would drop the profile enough to then match up with the rears nicely. but you are correct, the right size front to go with a 275/35/19 rear would be a 245/40/18 on the front.
  20. oh yeah, also getting married this year but in my defence its not till September, which is still a long way off!
  21. ooooh gotta look forward to stuff! firstly, looking forward to spring! hate the cold and dark of winter - its getting lighter, but still cold. roll on some warmth! secondly, got holidays booked! off to centreparcs in a month, and already have a summer holiday booked with friends we've never been on holiday with before, should be awesome! oh, and after this weekends problems looking forward to having a working BMW track car again!
  22. Where did you buy the car from? Might give you an indication of who was likely used for an uprev, if its had one done. Other option, find a member whos got one that definitely isn't remapped and drive them back to back for comparison.
