  1. yeah this time of the year is the worst for trackdays... so many racecars testing and the majority of them drive completely differently to trackday goers - in races you hardly ever overtake on straights as the cars are often identical, so the normal position is to overtake through corners. Will watch the video at lunchtime. Looking forward to kicking off our summer of trackdays soon - we've done plenty over winter so looking forward to warmer weather and not sliding around quite so much!
  2. eventually - I quite fancy a remapped 335i! maybe in a couple of months, need to get the new track car sorted first. But will start another thread save moving this one off topic.
  3. Nice car! good luck with the sale, if this was a coupe i'd have had it off you, but cant get over the styling of the saloon!
  4. have to say, through a welding mask it looks great! just peeking through the clouds now, sun is about 60% covered now. still bright daylight though!
  5. remapped bmw 335i. but im only planning on spending £10k on mine, although mileage might be up to 70k.
  6. oh dear oh dear, Chevrolet Cruze is surely the definition of bland A to B motoring! what on earth did he think when you first turned up with a 350z?
  7. how much is it? you can get perfectly fine running and driving rx8s for £1500 or so!
  8. try Kaizer Motors in Rochester, they'll be able to do it for you im sure. Also, please amend the thread title, typing 'we're' when you meant 'where' is just shocking!
  9. yup, an entirely predictable result - Hamilton first, Rosberg second, Maldonado crashing. not surprised so many lower teams finished in the points - heck, even marussia manor would have managed a point if they'd have started. it has to get better as they said, last time a F1 race had so few starters was 1958? (excluding the 2005 US grand prix fiasco) ah well, its the new world we live in... bring back the good old days I say, in my head the ideal spec for an f1 car would be a 3.5litre V8, no rev limit, no fuel limit (but no refuelling during pitstops) none of this energy recovery stuff. however I am undecided whether the cars should be naturally aspirated or turbocharged.
  10. this is true, even though the old car may be mechanically fine, the new car mentality soon sets in! sell it on ebay, someone will have that off you for sure if its got a bit of MOT left on it. heck, our BMW 330ci sold for £530 and that only had half an interior and a blown engine!
  11. Thanks for the birthday messages! Tonight there shall be steak and ribs in celebration, then home for much vodka based cocktail drinking and possible nookie
  12. they could (and in my opinion, should) introduce success ballast - doesn't have to be a lot, and it works so well in other classes of motor racing, particularly touring cars. Would be very easy to implement - the 3 highest cars in the championship going into a weekend have 20kgs, 12kgs and 8kgs added to the weight of their car during qualifying, then the weights are reset and the three highest qualifiers have the same amounts added to their weight for the race. 20kgs may not sound like a lot but when you're looking at advantages measured in fractions of a percent, making the leading car 2.8% heavier than the rest would likely mean that Hamilton would have to work hard to qualify on pole, or more likely, would qualify mid pack and would actually have to do some overtaking to win the race!
  13. at the moment, nothing... but our preferred set up is standard discs (i worry drilled or slotted discs will crack when hot), EBC yellowstuff pads and ATE Superblue racing fluid. In the 330ci the braking was consistent and immensely strong - probably helped by the fact the standard 330ci discs are 325mm in diameter!
  14. looks good, i shudder to think how quickly standard brakes would have melted if you'd have been pushing hard. and must have been a strange sight seeing a 6 series on track, very rarely do i see anything bigger than a 3 series normally.
  15. if its that bad, get thee to a garage pronto! Japex is just down the road from you, get it up on the ramps and check everything!
  16. depends on the car im buying - if I want something in good condition and spending £5k+, it'll be autotrader. however if im looking for a high mileage, slightly ropey car for under £2k, i'll go for ebay. never had much luck with PH, never even tried Gumtree or exchange&mart.
  17. i'l be honest, my zed's window doesn't work and has been jammed fully up for some time. once in a blue moon it will drop a cm when I open the door, but most times it doesn't budge. however, never bothered me, my door still opens and closes just fine, I've been without a working driver side window for 3 years now.
  18. hmmm in that case I'd suspect bushes are the culprit, and the fact it got worse with new tyres is just coincidence (although I don't believe in consequences when troubleshooting car problems) although wheel bearings are the usual thing when a car makes a noise when turning to one side, but they're normally accompanied by squealing noises!
  19. hells yeah, if I was double world champ and I wanted to wear gold chains and basketball jerseys and diamond earrings, I darn well would! i'd also be driving around in a gold wrapped, slammed McLaren Mercedes SLR (see what I did there!) If I won a third world championship, that SLR would then be diamond encrusted
  20. what tyres did you have fitted? wheels all balanced when new tyres went on? wheel nuts tight? tyre pressures? those are the easy things, then i'd move on to: wheel bearings all ok, no play? after that i'd be checking the bushes in the front suspension, and checking for play in the steering rack and tie ends. got a bit of wheel wobble in a car I've just bought, so interested to see if there are any other suggestions.
