  1. 7 hours in a zed really isn't that long... kick back, put the cruise control on and chill out with some decent music.
  2. ^^^ winning! get the exhaust nice and hot and listen to the crackles!
  3. +1 if you want a high power, high revving NA engine, its got to be sell the zed and buy an M3/M5/M6. BMW have already spent millions making high power NA engines which are now well within budget of what you could sell your zed for plus £8k.
  4. Fair play to you for giving the N/A route a good go, and not going down the easy route of adding boost. interested to see how this turns out!
  5. just had the auto renewal through from admiral for the car insurance... and its within £20 of the cheapest price on comparethemeerkat (£598 for my beemer, £202 for the missus's 206) we could try ringing around and getting it a little cheaper, but considering how busy we are with other things this month (wedding and honeymoon planning) we're considering just letting it auto renew
  6. free wedding? yes please! being filmed for BBC3? no thanks. but then again, free wedding...
  7. what are you guys banging on about? i'm drawing a blank.
  8. i thought you liked things rammed down your throat And that my friends explains a lot. Pretty sure this topic is getting locked in the next minutes... That wont help! once this one is locked gangzoom will start a new one when someone sneezes and it sounds slightly like tesla Seems three things in life are certain - death, taxes and Gangzoom's Tesla threads
  9. I seem to remember a certain person posting all kinds of random stuff in the off topic discussion section... I think electric cars is a lot more valid to discuss on a car forum than, say, chickens... but off topic discussion would be a very quiet place if we could only discuss things that were actually related to 350zs or 370zs. often its the off topic stuff that makes this forum great! Lets just have one Electric cars thread, clearly labelled, and everything electric can go in there. then if you don't wanna read about the latest electric developments, its easily avoided
  10. ^ Not cool dude... yes I think a single 'electric cars/Tesla cars' thread would suffice rather than lots of separate threads, but its in the 'off topic discussion' section, and you don't have to read it!
  11. I'd hope not, that seems perfectly reasonable to me!
  12. errr yeah you have to do an awful lot of engine strip down (ie, all of it) to get at the crankshaft! You'd have to have money to burn if you were considering a stroker kit!
  13. that's always encouraging to hear!
  14. oh and P.S. I've just fitted a full set of GY Eagle F1s to my beemer, will report back in a while how they feel!
  15. you know the width of the tyre will also change its rolling diameter, as the profile is a percentage of the width? a 245/45/R18 tyre has a rolling diameter of 677.7mm a 265/45/R18 tyre has a rolling diameter of 695.2mm - which is a difference of 2.59% however, since you're changing the front as well, you shouldn't have problems with the TCS. as long as the rears are rotating at least 2.5% slower than the fronts, you'd be ok. most people have problems with the TCS when they fit a non staggered square setup - which means the rears rotate exactly the same speed as the fronts, which the TCS interprets as overspeed, or a wheel slipping.
  16. never had any problems with my ventus V12s... thought they were pretty decent! I'd suggest it was a slightly heavy right foot, or possibly a slightly abrupt gearchange.
  17. Ah that make sense. Next choice is what tyres to go with, I don't want to spend much more than £100 a corner if possible. Would love mpss but I can't afford them at such short notice. Hankooks get my vote for cheap yet decent. something like the ventus V12, worked well on the front of my zed.
  18. that actually looks pretty good... obviously the concept is going to be toned down quite a lot, but the basic shape and proportions are there, could be a cool little car.
  19. Well that hasnt gone well. came home all excited and going to fit my new wheels, but apparently not... got one wheel on. and broke a crappy bmw jacking point, which was made of a hard cheese rather than metal. so tomorrow i will drive to work with one missized wheel, then take it to a garage and get them to do fit the other three at the weekend.
  20. wheres that video of the E46 M3 fitted with a V10 engine? that's got a exhaust bypass valve if I remember correctly, and sounds sweeeet!
  21. problem is a 350z will be an expensive car to drift in, unless you have a ready supply of 18" tyres - you'll go through a set of rears in a day quite easily at somewhere like santa pod drift days. if you really want to learn to drift, buy the cheapest, rattiest BMW 3 series you can for tuppance, and weld the diff up. total outlay, maybe £500? then you can beat on it all day long and not worry about hitting cones, barrels, walls, other cars etc, breaking gearboxes, clutches, drivelines, wheels etc etc. as with drifting its not IF a part will break, but WHEN. heck, buy a cheap beemer with some mates for an even smaller outlay! but yeah, don't drift your pride and joy as you'll more than likely ruin it - same reason I have a separate track car.
  22. Exactly which Michelin Pilot sports do you mean? Cos there is: Michelin Pilot sports, replaced by Michelin Pilot sport 2s, replaced by Michelin Pilot Super Sports (or MPSS, these are the ones everyone raves about) theres also Michelin Pilot sport 3s, but these are more for economy than performance. if you genuinely mean the original Michelin Pilot Sport, that's a design that will be several years old now, would worry when then tyre was actually made, and whether its turned to plastic by now!
  23. the company im looking at make two exhausts for the 335i: http://www.designtek.eu/BMW/3-Series-E92-Coupe-07----E93-Cabrio-07-/Silencers---Mufflers/pt63_2395_-cma578-cmo1755/ I'm going to have to do something, the standard exhaust has no bass, no pops and crackles, no nothing! is so quiet you could happily drive around at 4000 rpm and not notice!
  24. nah, power comes next! but i figure i better get decent rubber first. although i have seen an exhaust with an electronically controlled bypass valve, which sounds interesting...
  25. alrighty first mod is bought and ready to go on - new wheels! will post some pics of before and after, might get time to fit them tomorrow if im feeling keen, watch this space!
