  1. Would love to come but wont be in the country! Cadwell is a great track, tricky in places but just like a rollercoaster!
  2. Have you heard back from them? I was caught doing 72mph in a 60mph in a variable speed limit part of the M25 and I was offered a speed awareness course. (I don't have any idea why it was 60mph!- It was 10pm with no other cars on the road or any roadworks) Probably dropped it to 60 so they could nick you! +1, I was nicked doing 85 on the M5 - 11pm at night, nothing else on the road. but apparently even in those conditions the M5/M4 junction needs speed cameras!
  3. to be honest, hot hatchbacks getting more and more powerful leaves sports car in exactly the same place they were before - also getting more and more powerful. Yes a hot hatch of today may be faster than a sports GT of ten years ago, but compare that to a sportscar of today with some 500 horsepower and once again it is outgunned. The power race is still in full swing and pretty much every manufacturer is guilty of it - a new car has to be faster than the one it replaces, period. its no different in any other category - super saloon power levels are going through the roof, supercars are all getting near 700bhp now. ALso cars continue to get bigger and bigger - until they get so big theres room for a smaller car below it - years ago the 3 series used to be a reasonable size - now its a big as a 5 series was, the 1 series has grown from a simple hatchback to a full range of hatch, coupe and convertible.
  4. sorry dude, barely a snigger from me.
  5. I honestly think that 90% of car buying public think engine sizes only go up to 2 litres! back in the day you either had a 1600, 1800 or if you were really well off you had a 2 litre. Also, 90% of the car buying public are idiots, and try and say something to appear knowledgeable!
  6. would need to know what the pads are... its perfectly normal for a race pad to squeal at low speeds when hot.
  7. admittedly our problem isn't the cleaning so much actually... its the 'too much stuff in a small flat' problem! solution for that is rather more expensive - buy a house...
  8. yeah like most things its not to bad if you squirrel money away every month. multiple accounts is the way to do it, that way you have the money ready when all those big yearly expenses come round, like car tax, insurance, MOT, tyres... and other general stuff like TV Licence, Half yearly service charge, etc etc. Still doesn't alleviate the sting of having to pay ~£500 for the privilege of driving your car when Maureen down the street gets it for free even though she does twice as many miles, but that's a different topic...
  9. again waaay off topic, but we're seriously considering getting someone in to clean our flat every so often. cos really, neither me or wifey can be arsed, we earn enough money to pay other people to do things for us!
  10. I don't think what mileage you declare will have much effect on the premium, the fact you're a 24yo male will make more difference. Certainly any saving you make by putting the zed on a limited mileage policy wouldn't be enough to offset the additional cost of buying and insuring another car. Personally I would add it perfectly legitimately to the admiral multicar policy - that's who my zed was insured with all the time I had it, they worked out way cheaper. plus also, surely you wanna drive the zed as much as possible now you've bought it?
  11. doubt you'll get offered the course - however it doesn't hurt to request it. normally the course is only for people just over the limit, ie 33-36mph in a 30, 44-48mph in a 40 and so on. when I was nicked I was doing 85 on a motorway and was not offered a course - but I requested it and said it would be far more beneficial to my education than simply points (which it was)
  12. I think we have to keep things in perspective here... obviously a tesla will never compare to a lotus elise, or even a manual V8 BMW 6 series. However if you're in the market for something fast and near silent to waft along motorways and A roads, ie Merc E class, Audi S6, BMW 630d auto) and don't mind the range/charging issues, you'd be seriously considering a tesla, surely. If your daily commute was 60 miles up the M1 and back and you were happy enough plugging a car in to charge overnight when you get home, you'd be saving a small fortune by switching to electric.
  13. Nice little write up - I like the Tesla Model S, think it looks good, certainly goes well and a range of 250 miles would be plenty acceptable to me - I maybe do one trip a year where i'd need to do more than that, in which case i'd take another car. Obviously have to understand the limitations of an electric car, if long recharge times are a problem then its not for you. would I pick one over my 335i? not just yet, still like the noisy mechanical bits (although I have got used to the auto box :o)... but a car with equal power to a 335i, but greatly reduced running costs? its very tempting. And also I have my (considerably slower) track car for driving heel and toe redlining every gear pleasures, for simple wafting to work or seeing friends or weekends away, a Tesla would be fine (assuming its within the 250 round trip range)
  14. no can do im afraid, gotta be weekend dates for us! delay it by a fortnight and we might come along. other than that we're hoping to do oulton, snetterton and bedford before the end of the year!
  15. sounds like a good day! should have had the weather for it at least. Get some pictures up also, what are you doing on here so soon? doesn't the trackday finish at 5pm? normally the organisers have to physically drag us off the circuit at the end of the day, no going home early for us!
  16. theres a fairly recently opened Travelodge in fort William that might make a good starting meeting point, complete with esso and BP garages not far away selling super unleaded. Also, would it be possible to fit the Isle of Skye in? wouldn't feel right travelling all the way up to Scotland and not visiting Skye but regardless of anyones suggestions, just do what you want to do - you'll never please everyone. maybe have one day where we meet up with other members for a drive, but you might have to be selective with who does the whole thing, otherwise it'll get quite big and unwieldy!
  17. if you're getting something custom fab'd then make it go over the rollbar on the right, and under it on the left.
  18. Welcome along! To be honest i'm a bit concerned about my mid life crisis... since for most people that means swapping from boring sensible cars to outrageous sports cars, but since all of my cars are sports cars and most have been more powerful than the last - does this mean my midlife crisis will go the other way and be a ford focus estate diesel? Dear god I really hope not!
  19. personally i'd be considering rejecting the car - its clearly not “of a satisfactory qualityâ€, and “fit for purpose†under sale of goods act. Doesn't matter if its covered under warranty or not, as soon as there is a problem i'd be turning round and heading back to the trader for my money back.
  20. looking forward to seeing this at a future trackday! keep us posted on dates, if its a weekend date sometime after 6th October we may well come along, javelin have loads of cheap weekend days coming up! why not stretch the V8s legs at Snetterton maybe...?
  21. I'd potentially be in - been meaning to do a decent tour of Scotland for a few years, never been any further north than Fort William. I'll leave the whiskey drinking to other people but I love a good castle explore! That is assuming you don't mind a beemer coming along certainly be interested in dates and duration - think i'd probably prefer it over a weekend to minimise the amount of holiday needed, but June is a long way away yet.
  22. yeah its a mongoose... NSS004 matches up to a Nissan 350z system on their site - I think 0915 is the tip design.
  23. have to say, think I was closest with handling related and bucket seats... but engine mods sound major!

    RIP 911

what!!! I was gonna come to the defence of a flat 6 engine saying it sounded great in Darren's boxster S, but then you went too far and said you didn't like the audi/lambo V10. My feelings about V10s are clearly known!
