  1. having seen a folding bike in the office the other day, yeah i'm pretty sure a Brompton would fit! sure you can find folded dimensions for many bicycles online.
  2. We have been getting through yellow stuff pads quite quickly on the front of our Beemer- seem to get 3 track days max. Goin to try switching to blue stuff, but maybe should just bite the bullet and get carbon techs, changing brake pads constantly is frustrating.

  5. In that case it isn't empty... 80litre tank!
  6. That sucks... last thing you expect to see on the road is metal signage. I'd perhaps have a word with whoever is responsible for the signs, clearly they aren't doing their job well enough if they're coming loose and blowing across the carriageway. In a way you're lucky it was on the ground rather than in the air, could easily decapitate a driver if it went through the windscreen.
  7. care to back that statement up with some evidence maybe? Looking forward to seeing a supercharged S2000, always thought it would be about the perfect drivers car - think one would make a great weekend/track car for when we get bored of BMWs.
  8. just watched it... man do i miss the sound of my zed! i could listen to that all day. And drive that road all day as well! ahhh to be in california right now...
  9. nice... will be watching this when I get home
  10. hmm, brake fade is not fun! I'd recommend ATE Type 200 for brake fluid, cheap and works really well.
  11. very little prep needed, check the amount of brake pad material and all the fluid levels when you start the day and again at lunchtime, and keep an eye on the tyre pressures. if its a dry day then the pressure will likely go up 5psi as the tyres heat up, so i'd start the day at 33psi, do a few sessions to get heat in the tyres, then drop them down to 35psi hot. Oulton is a long lap, so i'd be limiting yourself to probably at most 6 laps at a time, then come in. Also, as with every car and every trackday, make sure you do a decent cooldown lap (trying to use brakes as little as possible) at the end of every session - your car will thank you for it. And don't put the handbrake on in the pits! We're off to oulton in 3 weeks time - it'll be our second time there, hopefully weather conditions will be better this time around!
  12. its not the lower RON petrol leaving deposits in the engine that's the problem, its the pre detonation/knocking that can occur when the petrol ignites earlier than its supposed to. do you drive the car particularly hard at all? hopefully if you never take it above 4000rpm or so the substandard petrol wont cause any long term problems, but start using the good stuff from now on yeah? petrol is so cheap these days super unleaded is a lot cheaper than regular was a year or two ago.
  13. how about a 6 series? either 645 or 650, proper V8 under the bonnet. wont be as practical or as economical as a jag diesel, but high on the waftability stakes!
  14. and i think non resonated is 90db. this is assuming you havent changed the cats!
  15. thats even more vague than £50 doing 140 miles! I can make £30 last a whole month if i never drive the car, or 30 minutes if im on a trackday!
  16. I saw a Porsche go by with D4N 15 A closely followed by a BMW with 83LL3ND the other day... honest
  17. And that's still a load of hassle and a lot of money !! well, we all know the easiest way to get a faster car is... buy a faster car
  18. haha, if 100 people gave you £100 that still wouldn't be even remotely close to the cost of an NA build - way better returns on investment by going FI.
  19. A slightly more scientific approach would help here! don't even need to run to empty... brim the tank, do 100 miles, then brim the tank again. work out the exact mpg from those 100 miles. Also the average mpg readout is pretty accurate, reset it and do a 100 miles or whatever, then see what it says. when I was running a zed I could get 33mpg cruising at 70 on a motorway, and would drop to 27-28mpg average when running door to door going from home to work and back, which was 2miles at 30mph then 18 miles on motorway. I rarely saw less than 25mpg average, though I do very little town driving.
  20. make sure you do a build thread if you're considering it!
  21. welcome to the forum! At 87k i'd maybe start putting some money aside for a clutch replacement, if it hasn't had one already. other than that if its followed the service schedule it should be fine!
  22. seems reasonable - cow and pig products delivered direct to my door, whats not to like!
  23. thats true, i just would maybe prefer a little variety, but if you like the engine in the M3, why not have the same engine in your road car. considered something of the pork variety? caymans and boxsters and the like? alternatively, something like a 645 or a 650 would make a lovely wafty roadtrip car?
