  1. hey, i modded my zed... it had a banging cobra exhaust on, and a stubby! but then i did the ultimate mod - the whole car swap. Cost £3100 and gained an extra 100bhp, good luck getting that kind of return on your cash with a supercharger conversion
  2. Dan, you've gotta stop making these wagers... you're already at risk the cost of an MPSS tyre to someone! And i'll be honest i'd be very surprised if electric cars weren't the mainstream choice in 20 years time - I mean, look at how far engine technology and emissions have come in the last 20 years, the guidelines will only get more and more strict. once the capacity of batteries has been solved and the charging infrastructure is in place, they'll be the default choice for most commuters.
  3. I think we're getting a pretty good picture now, over 50 votes in. certainly things like a sports exhaust, remap and HFCs/decats are almost unanimous in consideration. Wheels, suspension and forced induction generally divide opinion. And then wraps, BGWs, tints and stance are a bit more out there. Still no one prepared to admit to be considering Lambo doors
  4. controversially, second most considered mod is an engine remap/uprev - which I find surprising as previous posts on here seem to be about 50/50 split between those that love it and would recommend it, and those that have tried it and don't rate it, or don't want to try it in the first place.
  5. you can fit a 255 on an 8.5" rim no worries, how much wider do you need? 255/35/18 and 285/30/18 would be a pretty sweet combination on those rims
  6. wow those are pretty wheels! someone needs to get these on a track zed and use them as they were intended!
  7. I think this question is based on no limits... but with regards to the big two modifications on the list (supercharge/turbo and major engine work/engine swap) i'd certainly consider supercharging what was previously an NA engine, but I would have to be really stinking rich to consider doing an engine swap rather than just buying the car that has that engine in in the first place. for example my hierarchy of spending would be as follows: lowest cost - standard n/a 350z moderate cost - 350z with a supercharger kit high cost - R35 GTR higher cost - Tuned R35 GTR seriously minted - 350z with a GTR engine swap ridonkulously minted - 350z with a tuned GTR engine
  8. im actually surprised that HFCs/decats are actually running almost equal with a sports exhaust - i'd pretty much always consider a sports exhaust purely for sound more than anything, but i'd only consider a HFC/decat if it was a major restriction to power - for example on a turbocharged engine. the rest of the time I just consider them to add unwanted rasp, extra complexity with o2 sensors and difficulty passing an MOT. but then again, I'm generally against tuning an N/A engine for power, but I can appreciate that if that's your bag then HFCs and a remap make sense.
  9. Added option for no mods at all - exactly as it left the factory. As I suspect there are a lot of people who like their car exactly as it is, which is absolutely fine as well!
  10. lol its mods you'd consider doing - actually forking out the cash to do them is something else altogether. I'd certainly consider a supercharger conversion, but am very unlikely to fork out my hard earned to do it.
  11. but slammed purely so it looks better? at the possible detriment of performance? I like a lowered car, but not so much that the camber, ride height and tyre rubbing compromises drivability. and yeah, I appreciate that some cars you want to keep stock, and some cars you are happy modding the heck out of, but i'll confidently say i'll never consider lambo doors on anything!
  12. Haha I know a few people who will be ticking the lambo doors and neons options!
  13. Thought it would be interesting to see the total forum consensus with regards to car modifications - important to answer with regards to actual modifications you would consider doing to your own car, the car you actually drive on a day to day basis. Obviously theoretically i'd love a lowered car, big wheels, loud exhaust, the full works, but i'd never actually make a car undrivable on our shoddy british roads (shots fired!) And also then if someone asks an opinion on a particular modification, this thread will provide a rough approximation of the number of positive and negative responses one expects to receive!
  14. this has moved in a strange direction...
  15. gonna go for no. but by all means try it and report back!
  16. have a gander on rimtuck.com, can see how different combinations of widths, tyres and offsets look on zeds. there are about 50 zeds listed running 19" front and rear wheels http://rimtuck.com/search/thumbnails&make=Nissan&model=350Z&diameterf=19&diameterr=19&sort=1
  17. nope, at the end of the day its still a ford focus hatchback. if I needed a baby carrying car it would be a BMW 435i Gran Coupe. although optioned its around £45k
  18. I've just realised with a thud that BMW no longer sell a naturally aspirated engine! the naturally asipirated straight six is dead
  19. fraid not, Nissan wheels will be 5x114.3, bmw wheels are 5x120. and that's before considering offsets and centre bores. you would be able to get adaptors to make them fit, but even then I suspect the tyre sizes will be all wrong!

    XL tyre rating

XL rated tyres have stiffer sidewalls, so will slightly increase steering precision and turn in, at the expense of ride comfort. I preferred my zed with XL tyres, non XL tyres felt a bit wobbly when cornering.
  21. it looks like you might just be able to get some pliers on the end of that and unscrew whats still left in the mount. some penetrating oil an hour or two before will help. failing that, when I snapped my cheap ebay aerial, I very carefully drilled out what was left in there, and left enough thread intact to screw in a new, better Honda RDX aerial. buy cheap buy twice and all that! on the plus side, you can't make it any worse than it is already (unless your drill bit slips and you accidentally drill a hole in your wing)
  22. personally id investigate all the possible ways for an alarm to go off, and then start unplugging sensors until the problem goes away. when my old beemer alarm started going off every 5 minutes I simply disconnected the 'bonnet open' sensor which is known to fail, and also took out the interior movement sensor. fixed the problem. but try disconnecting the interior sensor, if that fixes the problem, either leave it unplugged or swap it for a new one.
