ah, I remember the days of whacking the doorcard to get my drivers side window to operate... 3 years I went never opening the window. makes you look like a right berk when you have to open the door and squeeze a hand round the side to get a ticket at a car park!

ha, fair enough! errm, nope, cant help with your query, but thanks for the compliment

this is strange, did you get forum hacked by your wife halfway through posting?

just from that i'd say it could be legit, albeit with a low price. my first flag of a scam would be any suggestion of sending money anywhere without first viewing a car. and also, a lot of people obscure reg numbers in adverts, my first question if I was a potential buyer would be to ask for the reg number, so I can check MOT history. if they don't want to give it out, i'd go no further.

what kind of driving do you do, as that will dictate what type of pads you need. are you hoping to track the car at all? I believe the OEM pads are the cheap ones, which will be fine for everyday driving. however if you do fast road driving or trackdays i'd consider something more robust.

been in a friends GT86 having had my 350z for 3 years... much preferred my zed! the GT86 seemed quite slow, very light on torque. plus, I thought it made a horrible racket, whereas a 370z with a decent exhaust will sound magic.

nothing particularly wrong with the vette/viper section or the Ariel Nomad section, apart from that they're no different to anything that would have happened on old top gear. and the drive to blackpool challenge was pretty dire - the economy race that old top gear did from basel to blackpool was really good, this one, hmmm, wasn't. and the 4x4s up a hill, well, that's just a rehash of the off road mobility scooters section, crossed with the landrover up a mountain section, nothing new there either. and the star in a reasonably priced car section was weird... surely if you're going to ask the audience to vote on the best car, check that both your guests have had interesting cars?!? id have thought CE could do a decent interview, but clarksons interviews were a hell of a lot better. the rallycross track could have been interesting, really needed some nice sweeping corners on gravel though for maximum driftyness, otherwise they might as well just stuck with the tarmac circuit and swapped the reasonably priced car for an M4, with TCS turned off. MLB was the best bit of the show for me, actually!

if you don't have any mods, then personally I wouldn't bother. £400 is a lot for an extra 10-15hp which is what you can probably expect without mods, and 120mph limited top speed would never be a concern in this country. fuel consumption may fractionally improve, but would take many thousands of miles before the remap paid for itself in increased fuel economy. and as for the throttle responsiveness, if that's an issue id go for a D1spec throttle controller instead, for a third of the price. if it was my money, i'd spend the £400 on 5 tanks of petrol and go on a 1500mile roadtrip round Scotland.

i still don't like Chris Evans. certainly didn't like the audience participation elements, those parts felt like i was watching a 90's childrens game show with a far too overenthusiastic presenter, any show that gets an audience to cheer to vote (on pointless competitions) is a no from me. actually quite liked MLB, during features. not so good when in the studio either. the challenges felt pretty much the same as old top gear, could have easily been Clarkson and Hammond in the viper and the vette, or in the reliants and 4x4s, and it would have probably been better. as it is, i think i now prefer US top gear to UK topgear. will still keep watching though, in the hopes that CE turns down the enthusiasm a notch or three.

i wanna flock! i want to flock! I... wanna flock and roll all night... here i am... flock you like a hurricane... for those about to flock... we salute you! this doesn't help with the question. but it did amuse me, and that's what counts.

wow... that seems rather dickish! seems more of a punishment for losing it than any security issue. i mean, its clearly got all your personal information on it, and a page for next of kin details, so it wouldn't even be very hard to locate the 'owner'.

i'm just saying consider your intended usage before buying - in general day to day driving i'm sure cheap drilled discs will be fine. But having seen the effect first hand on my own car, if you like spirited driving or trackdays especially, i'd spend a bit of extra money and get something reputable.
-
if the disc is cast with holes in it then it will be fine, no weaknesses are introduced. which will be how all aston, Mercedes, BMW msport discs will be made. the problem comes when discs that are cast solid then have holes drilled into them, and are then subjected to high temps. I've seen a couple of cheap drilled discs develop cracks on track cars, so its definitely not just an internet myth.

if you want to keep things cheap, cobra resonated exhaust, plus y pipe if you have to. although i'd want to know exactly whats wrong with the system before forking out additional for a y pipe.

but isn't kinetic energy proportional to speed squared, so halve the speed to 100mph and you'd only get a quarter of the gains? ie 1.25%, which in a zed is about 3bhp. your time would be better spent checking the tyres are properly inflated and that you aren't carrying around any excess weight in the boot than trying to engineer a better airbox. perhaps on a drag strip where speeds are higher and horsepower is higher, but on a zed travelling at moderate speeds I just don't think its worth it.

Is something wrong with my brand new Invidia Gemini???
brillomaster replied to ryanbatch's topic in Exhaust
if its not what you were expecting you'd still be able to recoup most of the cost if you take the invidia off and sell it on - perhaps a K1 is what you need! -
as I say, wind pressure is there, but its very minimal. its certainly no where near as significant as boost is. reminds me of the Roadkill guys, who tried to supercharge a car using 5 leaf blowers. it did actually make a bit more power, but not much!

How much hp is too much for the road?
brillomaster replied to martybhoy's topic in Off Topic Discussion
average 1.5 tonne sports/gt car, 450bhp would be enough as a starting point. but really, how long is a piece of string? so many other factors to consider, weather conditions, car chassis, driver skill, tyres... -

the tone will change as it cokes up inside. when my cobra was brand new, it was quite loud, and a harsh, metallic noise. once it had a couple thousand miles on it it sounded a lot more mellow, which I preferred. -

might wanna consider power to weight rather than just horsepower... 600bhp in a 500bhp caterham is probably a bit much, but in a 2 tonne Bentley you might want more. anywhos, i'd have thought around 300bhp per tonne is ample. i'd say the main limitations to how much power you can have are how much grip you have - if tcs is flashing every time you put your foot down, and you can only use full throttle when you're already doing 100mph, its probably too much! -
I don't think you read it at all! it was pretty clear
-
my wife would be furious if I swapped cars as often as you did... but you're right, so many cars out there to try, so little time to try them all!
-
you could just set up some something that sprayed liquid nitrogen onto a front mount intercooler... much like the waterspray button on early impreza turbos, but a lot colder
-
mmmm liquid nitrogen is pretty darn cool... that would certainly be a good way of lowering intake temps! however there may be a limit... probably don't want ice forming
