  1. firstly the zed is going to be an expensive car to track - heavy car, which will be hard on tyres and brakes, and then large 18" tyres to buy. If you want to do trackdays regularly theres a reaqson why there are a lot of caterhams/elises - light cars are a lot lighter on tyres and brakes, and small 14/15/16" tyres are considerably less to buy. However, if you do track a zed (and i intend to) a second set of wheels is a must, and change them on the day - that way you have no problems with having illegal tread for the drive home. Also, part worns are the way forward - for rears especially in a standard size thetreadshop seems to be great for part worns - when i do mine im going to put some cheapo nasty ones on the back and assuming its not raining, just be going sideways everywhere... worked a treat with my old beemer at Blyton park, best day out ive had in ages when the car was so tail happy it was powersliding everywhere - absolute riot. the tread shop also, look for track days with someone like minttyres present - they change tyres for a fiver, and can provide 'drift' tyres for as little as £2.50 - so even if you go through a few each day its still well worth it. mint tyres hope this helps! Wherabouts you based by the way?
  2. People have really gotta stop looking at the car and start looking at the numberplate before making presumptions about the wealth of the owner lol Theres a whole load of very flash cars to be had from a few years ago for sensible money nowadays, especially with the price of petrol making big engined cars less desirable. I'm very much looking forward to parking mine in the sea of eco-euroboxes that make up the majority of my company car park
  3. well id have the Miura for starters. But then torn between the CLK-GTR and the Zonda F Or maybe the Koenigsegg... oh wait a minute, theres an outside!?! ...
  4. hmm, just coming back to this after a few days away... i have 5, and i have 7, but number 6 has me completely stumped! Any chance of being PM'd another hint? im nearly there, just think im missing something to pin it down!
  5. hehehe this is fun! Bring on the next clue tomorrow!
  6. BOOOO i hate this time of year. An extra hour in bed for one morning is very poor consolation for the fact it gets darker an hour earlier from now until March November is the worst month of the year IMO. clocks have just changed so its dark and cold most of the time, and christmas is still a long way away! January and Feb are fine, cos you're in the knowledge that you're past the shortest day of the year, and its next stop summer! Plus even though it can be bitterly cold in Jan and Feb, there are actually quite a few nice clear crisp mornings. If we had a brillomaster regime, clocks would change so the sun rose when i got out of bed, at 7:45 I mean honestly, who needs daylight at 6 in the morning?!?
  7. As per the title really, i just dont get it! its not like there aren't many in the country, and they can't have been that much when they were new, but the cheapest S15 on pistonheads currently is £8000, for a car thats 12 years old now! Most are hovering around the 10k mark!?! Now i know the s15 was never sold in the UK so they're all imports, but i thought that was the same with the V35/G35 sister car to the zed, but you can get a far newer one of them for far less money, even though there are far less for sale! I'm confused!
  8. ok its not a 350... but its still a zed... and it is gunmetal! Sadly i had to scrap it as the engine went back in May and it was uneconomical to repair it, but when i get my zed, it will be gunmetal again, with a burnt ti tipped exhaust, and maybe even white rays
  9. lol looks like fun! Not sure i'd particularly want to take one down the street where i lived, but for an american suburbanite makes sense to go out with your kids. Only problem is the misleading product claims... powersliding? in a front wheel drive trike? you mean lift off oversteer or a weight transfer, surely? My vote is strap a motor on it... graft on some stainless steel cojones for yourself, and take this for a spin...
  10. At the end of the day, any hot hatch is tainted by the fact its based on a mundane hatchback. A Focus ST is, at the end of the day, a Ford Focus. A Civic Type R is... well, its a Honda Civic. and an Astra VXR is... lets be honest, an Astra. Anyone can make a fast car by whacking a turbo on it - thats Fast and furious 101. however, a zed does it properly - a naturally aspirated silky smooth, torquey V6, driving the rear wheels of a 2 seater sports car.
  11. Does anything like this exist? Anyone got something on their zed thats similar? Not such a fan of the chin splitter, but the vented bonnet, skirts and wheelarches look lovely! The real racing GT4 racing version of the 370Z just doesnt do anything for me... dont like the front bumper, and desperately needs some wheelarch extensions IMO. think of the change between standard BMW Z4 and the GT3 car for what wheelarches should look like!
  12. I dont normally go for Zeds older than the Z32, and purists would be upset at all the modern parts, but i really like this - completely rebuilt engine, modern interior and carbon bits, plus a gorgeous colour Full story and more pics here: S30 Fairlady Z
  13. cream leather!!!!! WANT! Any chance you'd split the seats? No seriously though GLWTS
  14. yep watched all of these as the came out - i have no problems with them. Its not UK top gear, but its better for it. perfectly watchable imo I think the presenters work pretty well together, plus you have Tanner Foust who gets everything sideways (former Formula Drift champion) shame the celebs are all american, but i fast forward through the celeb bit on UK top gear, so not loss there.
  15. TVRs = Would love to own a TVR one day - preferably a Griffith 500 or a Cerbera. It would have to be second or third car though, as im sure it would spend most of its time in a garage (getting repaired) and would only come out maybe once a month in summer.
  16. hmm, yet to see a 370z round these parts... actually i think ive only ever seen one on the road anywhere!
  17. a zeds not 1.6 tonnes! 1.48, tops. in which case the power to weight is 186 bhp per ton. as for OP not being used to RWD, far better to learn on the track than on the public road. You could start on the very popular drift days such as those ran at Santa pod, or some other form of car control days, and then advance to airfield days - have a look at Javelin Trackdays for very reasonably priced airfield track days. Most airfields have loads of runoff even before you get to grass, and even then its generally featureless flat stuff. Couple of sessions and you'd be powersliding like a hero. s14 chassis is a good shout also - very popular in drifting circles - lightweight, powerful, rwd, limited slip diff.
  18. I ran a 328 for a year with a mate - no problems with it at all, apart from the indicators falling off. Cost us £850, and then sold for £1000 a year later. an MX5 would be nice, but to be honest they're underpowered, i think you'd get bored of it fairly quick. MR2 Turbo would be rapid and certainly within budget, but heard the handling can be a bit lairy - mid engined layout wouldnt suffer fools driving it. If it was my money i'd buy an S2000 - hard work on the road, but would be sweet having a 9k redline and vtec power on a track. plus no issues with turbo, and legendary honda reliability. although as with the MR2, early ones had a reputation for going backwards, but better suspension and tyres would help a lot. Would a westfield/dax caterham-a-like be too hardcore?
  19. oh yeah, spotted the black nismo, thats a nice car! So question is, how do we get all these cars together? Sounds like theres more than enough for a warwickshire meet! Not yet though. I need to actually get another zed first...
  20. £6k!?! now that is mighty tempting for a car with only 58000 on the clocks! GLWTS!
  21. and while we're on the topic of leamington Zeds, theres a Black Roadster with a private plate (Elisha?) in the next office over from me, and a Silver one i see around as well. Might have to put some cards out!
  22. has the 'zorst been done? if not, thats a no brainer - plenty of options for all budgets!
  23. Seen at just gone 5pm today. Very distinguishable as it had a massive german shepherd dog out the window!
  24. Would t be really be that different to drive? it'd just be the difference between the SWB and LWB ZXs of old, one was 200mm shorter, 100kgs lighter and no rear seats, which would be the 350z, and the other longer, heavier version the G35. Any chance of someone photoshopgrafting a 350z front onto a g35 body? and calling it the 350ZX?
  25. gonna get it on the old download next week when my girlfriend is away - probably not her cup of tea really. Really liked the TG tribute to Senna, so am looking forward to seeing the whole film.
